Comment on What We're Doing for #IFD2026

  1. Would inserting a character from another series into the canon of a series be enough of a change to mark it as an AU? Because I have this fic where one of the important characters from the main fandom is actually the MC of an entirely different fandom…

(Also, are we allowed to retroactively add the tag to one of our fics, or do we need to make an entirely new work for the event?)

    1. That is a crossover, what you're describing, and yes, it does technically count as an AU.

I'm not sure if it needs to be a new work; I might assume so but I don’t think it would hurt to add the tag. People might correct me but meh whatever haha. Just be sure to add the IFD tag!

      1. Ah, I see, tysm!! ^.^

Little side note, I find it ironic that your pfp is TP Ganondorf, cuz he’s technically the reason why the crossover shenanigans happen in the first place in the fic I’m talking about about XD

        1. Hahaha that's cool! I love Ganondorf, and TP is my favorite, so it was only fitting for the Demon King to be my pfp 😁 Even more ironic, my IFD fic is Zelda, too 🤭

Glad I could help! AUs really aren't that complicated once you learn more about them. Always happy to educate fandom peeps 🤗

      Hi,

Chiming in here to say, that yes, crossovers between fandoms can be counted as AUs, and also that it's absolutely fine to retroactively tag one of your works for IFD!

        1. Sorry for disturbing you. I can't reply to the other guy since he seems to have blocked me. I'm posting here in case he can see it.

Did I come across as rude? That wasn't my intention. I was trying to have a discussion. Also what do you mean "good try"?

          1. Alright, you want a discussion, let's have one. Also, its she, not he 🙂

Yeah, it did come off as rude. Text doesn't translate well, but it sounded that way. All in all, it was a misunderstanding. My bad. But this really isn't the place to be talking about a block. 🤷‍♀️

            1. My thinking with that is that if I see someone talking about something, I assume they know what they're talking about. So when the initial explanation didn't make sense to me, it was like raising my hand to the teacher from my perspective.

About the gender thing, I have a tendency to fill in the blanks from myself whenever I read about something or someone. Every doctor I hear about on tv is male, every main character I read from is male... and so on. Not because they are. More because I am unable to break this habit.

Anyways, the original topic is pretty fleshed out in the other replies as well... So... Uh. Good day.
