He leans in, breath so hot against Hans’ ear it makes him shiver—“how many heirs will you waste down my throat before you’ll admit to yourself you like putting them there?”

“Wanting,” he whispered. Hans felt his gut coil.

”Together they walked through the dark corridor. The air smelled moist and unmoved, as if no one had been here in decades. Of course, Henry had walked this exact path just one or two hours ago, but the chill of the stones crept into his bones like long dead spirits.
Back at Trosky castle, Henry hadn’t believed the tales of demons living in the thick walls, climbing up from deep underground and stealing the innocent souls of the inhabitants. A gate to hell itself opening up under the castle. The only thing that story had been good for was to rile up Hans. There were no such legends about Maleshov and yet…
Hans was still holding his hand. Well, if any demons wanted to take him tonight, they would need to get past Henry first.”_
While trying to escape Maleshov they get discovered. So they take the tunnel.

It is the final day of the siege of Suchdol. Judgement Day, some would call it later on. The Praguers' camp had been razed to the ground by reinforcements arriving from Rattay: with Markvart dead, the rest of their forces flee.
Yet, despite being taken back, no victorious hymns echo through the fort. Mortal silence falls upon them: in the heart of the inner courtyard, Sir Hans Capon of Pirkstein kneels, unmoving, on the blood-soaked ground. No words reach him—no hands are strong enough to pull him away. Those who try to approach him cross themselves: the young lord is blind to the world.
It is only Father Godwin’s prayer that breaks through; his palms shaking, spread over Hans’ head: Pater noster, qui es in cælis, sanctificetur nomen tuum; adveniat regnum tuum. Fiat voluntas tua.
Fiat voluntas tua, he repeats, and waits.
Sicut in cælo et in terra, Hans finishes, his voice breaking. He raises his eyes for the briefest moment—as Godwin kneels down to gently pry his hands away.
Henry’s body in his arms is already cold.

Hans flinches, but he does not retreat. "I know."
A beat of silence stretches between them, and then Hans sways forward, just enough that Henry feels the invisible pull between them tug on his ribs. The urge to stand almost takes him, but he stops himself. He refuses to close the distance. Instead, he waits, breath steady and body rigid with restraint. “Then why are you?"
Or: In Rattay, it's the eve of Lord Capon's wedding. Henry counts down the hours, alone.

“Hans,” he immediately called, catching his breath and unable to keep his discovery to himself. “Hans,” urgent and even louder the second time.
“What, you dolt!? Keep yelling like that and every animal within a fifty mile radius will have cleared off by tomorrow,” came the lord’s reply in equal volume.
“Look what I’ve found,” Henry exclaimed, ignoring the biting remark, smile evident even in his tone.
Reading on, he struggled with one particular word, letters arranged in an unfamiliar way.
“This better be good,” Hans huffed as he strode toward Henry, hair still dripping wet.
“Some poor sod lost his letter,” Henry chuckled, still facing away from Hans, who had gone quiet. “Here, listen to this: ‘my heart has been full to bursting with unspeakable lust for none but you.’ Christ.”———
In which Henry finds a letter, and Hans is not happy about it.
