Summary
It disgusted the Doctor, had always disgusted the Doctor, that they thought they were allowed to do such a thing – to profit from selling innocent lives. She had felt an intense fury the first moment she had seen them prowling the marketplace.
She could have never imagined that Yaz, a twenty-first century earthling, caught their eye.
The Doctor sacrifices herself to save Yaz. Slavers, after all, would get more money for the last Time Lord than a human.
The Master, under duress of a worried TARDIS and fam, tries his best to save her.

Summary
The Master finds himself tragically alive. He's gasping for air, face pressed to the cold floor of yet another stolen TARDIS, as Gallifrey burns one last time. The Doctor had saved him once again, albeit against her better judgement.
Before he knows it, she's gone. Their reunion cut short by the Judoon. Everything he's worked towards is gone, and all The Master knows is that he has to find her - if only to beg for forgiveness.

Summary
The offer was accepted and the arrangement was made: to save her friends from the Cybermen, the Thirteenth Doctor agreed to ten trips with the Master in his TARDIS—but before they could depart, the Doctor threw in an additional complication:
“If you’re hearing this, it means that you just realised you couldn’t open the locket. You shouldn’t leave things like Chameleon Arches lying about like that, you know. People can get up to all sorts of mischief if left alone with one. So here’s my end of the deal: the locket will open after ten trips in the TARDIS. Until then, you’re stuck with your new human companion, Jenny Smith. I’ll still be travelling with you… I just won’t have to be there for it.”
—which is when the Master added in a complication of his own:
“If you want to run from your problems and hide inside a little human costume… fine. Two can play at that game.”
Meanwhile in Bristol, the Twelfth Doctor’s decades-long routine of eccentric lecturing and vault guarding is about to be upended by the two most disruptive students St. Luke’s University has ever had: the perpetually bickering Jenny Smith and Harry Jones.

Summary
Koschei's name was drawn the year before hers, and he slaughtered almost half the tribute field personally, claiming the first victory for their District and becoming an overnight sensation. Media darling Caesar Flickerman had dubbed him The Master, a title that stuck, and he plays his part well, but as soon as the cameras are off, darkness always comes floating back towards the surface. He mentored Theta while his own pain was still fresh, and dismissed her as a lost cause as soon as the second name was drawn. The other tribute for District 3 that year was Koschei's friend, classmate, and neighbor, and Koschei all but told her that he would throw her to the wolves and focus the entirety of his attention on supporting her male counterpart.
That favoritism did not matter in the end. His friend died first, and Theta won the shortest games on record. Thirty-six hours, one meticulously engineered mass slaughter, and it was over.
Fifteen years have passed since then, and he still has not forgiven her.
