Abruptly, whatever Kokichi had been saying in another one of his relentless attempts to rile up their classmates was cut off. He stood frozen in front of them, the stillness jaring as his eyes flicked around in a way that would seem panicked if he was anyone else.
And maybe that’s really what it was, but the leader had already proved himself capable of faking emotions, so Shuichi wasn’t ruling out the possibility. The mechanical paw that came to rest on his shoulder, quickly followed by the black and white face they were all gradually beginning to despise, was enough to halt those particular musings in their tracks.
