Summary
When Dean gets fatally hurt on a hunt, Cas heals him and sacrifices his grace in the process, leaving him human. Navigating guilt, anger and trauma while adapting to a new status quo is causing them both to lash out at each other. With Sam trying to help them figure everything out they slowly begin to understand and trust each other again—when something happens that terrifies Dean to his very core, and makes him realize Cas might hold a different place in his heart than he thought.

Cas hums again. "I think you already have. It's been months since everything settled. All that's left to do is...get used to it, and perhaps—" His voice stalls out, uncharacteristically, and his gaze roams Dean's face with intensity. When he speaks next, his tone is a little raw. "Perhaps what one does with peace is...whatever they want."
"What if I don't even know what that is?" Dean grumbles, arching an eyebrow in challenge. "'Cause I know damn well you don't just mean good food and a good bed and time in Baby, not simple wants like that. You mean—ya know, the big things, the wants we didn't get to have before."
"Yes," Cas agrees. "If you're not sure, figure it out."
"Easier said than done."

Ten months after a traumatic experience leaves his daughter mute, single father Castiel Novak decides to heed the advice of Claire's therapist and get out of the city for a while. Obsessed with My Little Pony, Claire begs to go to "a pony farm" and, well, Castiel will do just about anything to make his little girl smile. A quick Google search later and he's booked a three month stay at Winchester Family Farm.
Neither Castiel nor Claire knew what to expect when they arrived at the farm, but it certainly wasn't a gorgeous, green eyed cowboy who knows ASL and has a penchant for collecting orphaned animals. Nor were they expecting the entire Winchester clan to make them part of the family. But that's exactly what happens, and it isn't long before Castiel realizes that not only is Claire healing, but he is as well.

“I’ll make you a deal,” Castiel said in lieu of answering his question and laughed when Dean’s brows shot up in surprise. Clearly, his change in attitude was unexpected.
“Oh yeah?” Dean's bright green eyes held amused interest. “What kind of deal?”
“We continue on as we have been the last few months; hanging out, getting to know each other and after six months if you still feel about me the way I know I'll still feel about you, you agree to date me.”
Thirty-five-year-old Castiel Novak may be newly divorced, and newly out of the closet, but he still knows what he wants and what he wants is Dean Winchester. Now Cas just has to convince the man to take a chance on him. Shouldn't be too hard, right?
Dean would be lying if he said that the newest transplant to Angel’s Bend wasn't totally his type, not to mention insanely hot. Unfortunately, Dean has been somebody's big gay experiment before and doesn’t want to put himself through that again. But something about Castiel Novak makes him wonder if it's not worth the gamble.
