Harry had been raised like a pig for slaughter. And he died like one. Or so everyone thought. The day he was meant to face Voldemort, he vanished. No trace, no last words.
In truth he was headed to confront the Dark Lord, but when he found the Resurrection Stone, instead of seeing the dead, he was struck by an ancient curse. Magic shredded through time and left him in the dark forest half a century in the past. Will he be able to get back home? Will he survive the 7th year with the demonically handsome and irritating Tom Riddle?

He got even more than he bargained for because Magic always has a price.
Harry wasn't Harry anymore. But he finally had a happy childhood. Mostly. He also had a mission to accomplish: to make his parents work together, to find and tame a very special child, and to win the lost war. Or else...

Summary
Harry is removed from the Dursley family when he is eight years old, and enters the wizarding world a few years younger and a lot wiser. He discovers a surprising dark heritage, and develops goals that do not involve vanquishing a certain Dark Lord or becoming the Chosen One. Adopted into the Black family, Harry will fight against the expectation that he is to defeat the Dark Lord and instead dedicates himself to protecting the dark legacy that has been left to him.
