His face did something weird when he spotted me. Kind of… Lit up? It was hard to place. He seemed happy to see me, which, let’s just say, was number three on the list of weird things that happened that morning when listed chronologically, but definitely topped the list if sorted by the degree of weirdness.
“There you are!” Dr. Gurathin’s voice sounded thick with sleep still, and it was entirely possible this was the first thing he said so far. He started to approach me, closing his eyes as he stretched, but the moment he opened his eyes back (only a few steps away, now) he drew to a stop. “Why are you in armour?”
For a person who could literally calibrate his eyes to work better, Dr. Gurathin seemed to have kept his vision in a terrible state.
