Summary
Moritz has lost hope for his future after failing yet again. As he is in the midst of writing a farewell note to the one person he truly loved, his roomate Melchior interrupts him and convinces him that the world can be kind if he gives it a chance. The two confess their deepest feelings towards each other, and Melchior comforts Moritz, ensuring that Moritz knows that he is deeply cared for.
