"Zhongliiiii-" Venti whines, half-draped over Zhongli's shoulder as they walked along. "Let me copy your homework, please?"
"Absolutely not." He shuts down easily, and the boy deflates.
"But! This is such a golden opportunity! All these years, from kindergarten to high school, we've always ended up in the same class! It's fate telling us to copy each other's homework!" Venti smiles widely, and Zhongli looks down on the boy disapprovingly.
"I will help you with the homework. You have to at least attempt it." Venti heaves a sigh and stops hanging off Zhongli, skipping along.Zhongli meets Venti in a park in Mondstadt. Somehow, they end up meeting again in Liyue, getting into fights, saving people, and then starting a gang. Zhongli blames this on Venti.

The hell with humans. The hell with the Qixing and all the politics of their governance. Xiao didn't have to like them to protect them. They didn't have to like him, or even worship him. Humans could continue to be selfish, and arrogant as if they didn't need the adepti to protect them. But Xiao would still be here, just like Rex Lapis standing beside him.
For a thousand years, they built Liyue through thousands of wars. For a thousand years, they guided Liyue into peacetime. And for Rex Lapis, only for Rex Lapis, Xiao would continue to protect Liyue for a thousand more.
