Stiles and Scott embark on a road trip together. This isn't a metaphor (except for how it is.)
“It’s okay, I’m good.”
“Yeah, you’re the best,” Scott replies automatically.
It’s one of their stock phrases, something they’ve said since childhood --- as natural to them as their ability to communicate through eyebrow-raises, their super-secret handshake and their unending loyalty to one another, but Stiles thought they’d retired it when they were fifteen, so he glances at Scott quickly.
“Sometimes I think we’ve forgotten how to be us and then you say something, or look at me a certain way, and it all comes back.”

Summary
Scott doesn't realize how colossally he's fucked up until Stiles swerves sharply onto the road shoulder and slams Roscoe into park with a lurch.
“Wait a minute. Are you jealous?” Stiles asks.
...
And then Stiles is murmuring “Fuck it,” and Scott feels something shaky roll down his spine, electric and heavy, and then it's all gangly limbs and the smell of Old Spice because Stiles is scrambling over the gear shift and crashing into Scott's lap, and he knows his hands are cold but he wraps his arms around Scott's neck anyways and kisses the shit out of him, and it's perfect.

Summary
Stiles gets very good at putting himself back together. He learns which cuts just need butterfly bandages and which need actual stitches and he knows to keep a needle threaded because trying to get everything ready when you're shaking from blood loss is fucking hard. (Not impossible though, he learns that too. There's not much that is impossible when you don't have any other options.)
Post 5A - Stiles may not be in the pack anymore, but that doesn't mean he's going to stop fighting.
