Florian, after weeks of bearing the brunt of Kieran’s cold shoulder to the world, is used to that. He’s used to lack of eye contact in transient hallways, used to unfinished sentences and the way Kieran presumably still spits Florian’s name from his lips like it’s something bitter on his tongue when Florian’s not around to witness.

Kieran, after approximately a week and a half of coy smiles and little touches that mean the world to him and nothing to Florian, begins avoiding him for the sake of his rapidly declining sanity.

Bunting was strung up across the storefronts and zig-zagged above the road, each individual piece of cloth material shaped like a heart. Valentines decorations; seemingly, Medali took it seriously? That's what Kieran could assume, at least.
He'd never really felt much about the holiday himself. At most, people in Kitakami would give loved ones flowers and hand-made gifts, and Kieran had never had a reason to celebrate it.
He still didn't, no matter how much he wished he did; especially when Florian seemed to like the holiday a lot. Kieran wanted him to be happy.
