Anabella, however, has different plans for him... As he's done with delegations in the past, Clive is assigned the task of seducing the King Barnabas Tharmr to help solidify Rosarian-Waloed relations. It's a job he's done before, one that he's good at, no matter how much he might hate himself for it. After all, if his mother is to be believed, Joshua's safety depends on it.
Imagine his surprise, then, when he approaches the King's chambers and finds not the King, but the Lord Commander instead...

It's typical enough banter for them that Cid doesn't think any further on it. He assumes Clive doesn't, either.
That is, until he walks into his solar a few nights later and finds Clive kneeling on the floor in a real corset, with panties, stockings, and garters to match. The whole damn ensemble.
Clive is gracious enough to give him a full minute or two to gawk before he clears his throat to get Cid's eyes back up to his face. To the insufferable smirk that lingers there. "Seemed like you could use a lesson on what a corset actually is," he explains smugly. It's unfair how damn calm he seems, kneeling there with his relaxed hands resting on his knees and not the slightest hint of shame.
