‘You know, I’m going to be fighting them tomorrow,’ Arthur says, ‘and believe me, they will pay dearly for this.’ He touches Merlin’s sore shoulder, brief and gentle. ‘As your champion, Merlin, it’s only fitting that I should wear your token, don’t you think?’
He looks at Merlin, softly smiling, teasing, and Merlin’s cheeks are burning like fire and he can't hold Arthur's gaze.
