Summary
After the disastrous end of his betrothal to Gwen and the regret of his offer to Princess Mithian, Arthur swears off finding a wife until he's ready to wed. When Merlin offers himself to Arthur as bedmate, Arthur suggests they hand-fast in secret for a single year of mutual pleasure without obligation. As their year together unfolds, and secrets and betrayals unravel around them, Arthur and Merlin learn there is no such thing as uncomplicated pleasure. Summary
In Camelot, everyone thinks Lancelot and Merlin are sneaking around because they're secretly in love. But really, they're teaming up to fight a dark sorcerer threatening the kingdom. They don't even know about the rumors until someone tells them. To keep Merlin's magic a secret, they play along with the gossip and accidentally start developing real feelings. While everyone is obsessed with their supposed romance, they completely miss the dark sorcerer Merlin is battling right under their noses. Lancelot is just there to support Merlin through it all.

Gwaine travels back in time and decides that the easiest solution to all of their problems is for everyone to think he’s dating Merlin. It’ll be perfect. They’re good pals, Arthur won’t grow suspicious of the tavern cover, and he can help Merlin with his super sneaky sorcery bullshit. It’d be perfect!
