Summary
Akane Kuramoto is a UA graduate with a quirk that allows her to manifest the most recent nightmares of herself and those around her with a horrifying side-effect. Drawing on her own struggles in controlling her quirk that lead to debilitating mental health issues in the past, she works as a child psychologist specialising in quirk management. Hired by her old school to counsel students, she quickly bonds with the children and finds a sense of belonging she hasn't felt in a long time.
But when a case that dredges up memories best left forgotten arrives in her office, Akane must confront her own inner demons and make decisions that stretch her resolve to its' limits. Then, there's the slight problem that she's accidentally developed feelings for the taciturn homeroom teacher of Class 1-A with whom she can't seem to hold a full conversation without messing up.
Sometimes, it's hard to tell the difference between a nightmare and a dream.

Era doesn't have high hopes for her future. Truthfully, up until a few months ago there hasn't been a future; just the blurry promise of suffering to come. The journey from villain to ex-villain to vigilante has been... rough, to put it mildly. But Era can handle it. The journey from vigilante to hero-in-training? That, she has less of a grasp on. Era doesn't consider herself to be optimistic, but she is confident in her skills and her quirk, sure that her training will carry her through anything UA has to throw at her, and that in turn UA will keep her protected from the shadowy figures of her past, the threat that lurks in the corner of her eye.
If only heroes weren't so god damned nosy, stubborn, persistent. If only she could remember to keep her useless emotions in check, avoid any unnecessary attachment, save herself and others from future pain. If only her quirk would just let her die. Funny, how that would make things so much simpler.

Kayama isn’t actually bad. She first introduces herself with a pretty speech about giving their all and striving to be the best, because Plus Ultra, and then she just jumps right into their faces about needing to beat the 1-A class, the hero course, because she has a bet running.
Inspiring, truly.
(In which Shinsou Hitoshi still wants to be a hero, even if that means cleaning up an old, cluttered gym, befriending that one quiet kid in his class, taking care of kids at his foster home and fighting insomnia on a daily basis.)
