Summary
The chill of the cement at his back wakes him a little before dawn. He starts to shift to relieve some of the soreness in his limbs but freezes when he registers a warm weight across his shoulders and along his side. It seems that sometime during the night Jack threw his arm over Bitty’s shoulders and pulled him close. Bitty can feel every rise and fall of Jack’s chest beneath his cheek.
As part of Bitty freaks out about the amount of contact they have right now, the other part of Bitty wonders.

Summary
Shitty is Jack’s best friend. And Jack knows that means different things to different people, but to him it means that Shitty is the strongest person he’s ever known. Shitty holds him together, and, even though Jack knows he doesn’t need it anymore, there is still a part of him that Shitty knows better than anyone. Even Bitty.
Maybe that’s why this is so terrifying.
As Jack starts playing in the NHL, he hears from Shitty less and less. Which is wrong, of course. When Jack realizes, he sets about fixing it.

Eventually Jack came back to himself, as he always did, shaky and exhausted but alive, and Shitty wrapped up his rambling story. “Anyway, man, that’s why if you ever have kids you shouldn’t make bets with your hedge fund buddies on their names. You’ll end up with a son named Barnaby Sylvester Knight, and trust me, that is no way to start a father-son relationship.”
“That’s a pretty awful name,” Jack whispered. “Thanks, man.”
Shitty just squeezed him tighter and didn’t protest at all when Jack finally drifted off, drooling a little on his pillow.
