“I will not keep you long, I only have one important message,” Dumbledore started. “Remus has been found out.”
Severus felt himself freeze. That couldn’t possibly be true. Remus was able to take care of himself. He had been able to survive all this time. When all the Marauders and Order members were being picked off, he was able to survive. Severus would never admit it to anyone, but he always kept an eye out for the other male. He had a soft spot for him, one that he would take with him to the grave. The thought that something might have happened to Remus, sparked a fear in him he didn’t realise was still possible.
“Did you hear anything, Severus?” Albus asked him, Severus responded with one short shake of his head.
“I haven’t. I shall return now and see what I can find,” he replied. Voice as emotionless as he could manage, not wanting to give anything away. Not of the pit in his stomach. Not of his urge to blast something to pieces. Not the fact that he cared. He saw Dumbledore nod, making him spur into action. He needed to get out of here. Away from these people, desperate for answers, for anything.
