As per request, here is the Coldwave Winter Fanworks Exchange 2019!

What is a fanworks exchange?

You’ll sign up to create a Coldwave fan work (fic, art etc), and you’ll request one in return. You’ll write, draw or create your work and submit it to the AO3 collection by the 24th December. It will sit anonymously there until the 25th December, when the authors/creators are revealed. At that point you’ll be gifted your fic or other fan work in return - a Coldwave holiday surprise!

When do we need to sign up by? When do we need to post the finished works?

 You have until the 31st October 2019 to sign up. You will be posting your completed work to the AO3 collection by the 24th Dec. It will sit anonymously in the collection until all creators and giftees are revealed on 25th Dec.

Are there check-ins?

Yup - there willl three check ins during the creation period, just so we know you’re making progress and whether you’re likely to default and leave your fic incompletely. We’d rather know about this in plenty of time, so we can arrange for everyone’s prompt to be filled - so please keep us posted if anything goes wrong and you can’t finish.

Check-in dates are:

21st November

5th December (which is the very last date to default)

19th December

We’ll remind you when it’s time to check in. Please send us an email or DM coldwaveevents.tumblr.com letting us know how you’re getting along.

5th December is the very last date to tell us you won’t be able to complete your work - but please let us know before this if possible, so that we can organise a pinch hitter in plenty of time. If we can’t reach you on the 5th, we’ll assume you’ve defaulted, and we'll make alternative arrangements for your giftee.

Can I be a pinch hitter for this event?

Absolutely! We’ll need people who are able to step in for people who default and can’t complete for any reason. All you need for this is an AO3 account. Please email us detailing the kind of works you are willing to produce (fanfiction, fanart etc) and what kinds of things you are willing to do (NSFW, whump, Trans Characters, Canon only etc etc) and we’ll match you with a suitable Giftee.

Please also tell us if you’re willing to pinch hit for more than one person - it will be greatly appreciated if you are.

If a person defaults, AO3 will automatically send you out an email with 3 prompts to choose from. You only need to choose one.

How do I contact you with questions or issues?

The minimum requirements are:

Fanfic - 1,000 words
Art - Must be original
Aesthetic/moodboard - with a blurb of at least 200 words
Video - Must be at least 30 seconds long
Playlist - 30 mins + 100 word blurb

You must tag your finished works appropriately and credit any betas.

When completed, please post to the collection and gift the work to your Giftee. If you're also sharing on social media such as tumblr, then the official hashtag will be #CWX19

Life can throw us curveballs sometimes and that's fine, but please get in contact with us if you think you cannot fulfill your Giftee's wishes. No one wants to wake up on Christmas morning to no gift. We do not want to think that people taking part would not want to create their gifts, but if you produce no works and do not give us notice, then you will be banned from all future Coldwave Events.
