Summary
After hosting their kids (and the kids’ significant others) on Christmas evening, Bob and Linda discuss how their kids have ended up where they are and reminisce on Bob’s first holiday with Linda’s family.
_____
She gave his shoulder a gentle squeeze. “My mom didn’t like you very much when she first met you. Do you remember that?”“What?” Bob’s mouth went slack. His tone was incredulous. “Y-You’re mom didn’t like me?”
“I thought you knew,” Linda said, hand on her heart.
“Obviously not!”
“Well, it’s fine now. My parents love you.” Linda gave a wave of her hand.
“No, no. Lin, you can’t just brush it off now.”
“What do you want me to say, Bobby? It’s been thirty-five years. It’s water down the sewer.”
“Water under the bridge,” Bob corrected.
“That’s what I said. Water in the sewer. Same thing.” Linda crossed her legs and bounced her ankle in the air, as if doing a tiny dance.
“Oh, my God.” Bob pinched the bridge of his nose.

Summary
“Bobby!” She shrieks, mortified. “What did you do?”
Bob groans. Except…it’s not Bob. Not really. It’s an unfamiliar, mustache-less version of her husband. Where there was once a sexy bushel of hair above his lip, there’s now nothing but a vast, vaguely unsettling abyss.
Bob experiments with his appearance, and his wife and baby don't appreciate it.
