Summary
The tower has stained glass windows that does not let in much natural light, placed so far up that she cannot look outside. She wonders if they have built it so in the hopes that if she cannot see the outside world, she will forget about it and let all dreams of a life outside the tower go. She traces secret patterns on the stone walls and paints pictures of memories on the back of her eyelids. She creates a tiny winter in the palm of her hand, because she will never be allowed out in the real one.
