Chapter Text

Wemmbu felt his heart thrum with energy. A restlessness and a burning in his heart- Wemmbu was going to ask Flame to marry him today. It was gonna be incredibly romantic! (As romantic as he reasonably could be with out losing aura)

Wemmbu already had the day planned although it was a bit spontaneous, He had simply decided during the middle of the night that if Parrot and Wifies were married then him and Flame should be too. They were far more cooler and in love then Parrot and Wifies. Plus It had been four years since they've been together so it was about time. It would bring them closer especially since Flame had been a bit distant and awkward lately. The plan was simple; a romantic fight in the afternoon, a quick make out session and then they would walk to their shared temple when the sun was about to set and Wemmbu would get on one knee and present Flame with one of his inner feathers on a necklace. An old romantic tradition from his home land. (Of course he had also had a ring- He was caught up on the newer traditions now! He wanted people to know. Although he didn't plan to tell his followers or anyone outright) So how did it go so wrong?

Wemmbu rubbed his eyes, grumbling as he slowly got up and stretched his arms. Flame couldn’t have gotten too far. The bed was still warm. So he trudged to the kitchen where Flame was already cooking breakfast. Wemmbu snuck up behind him- or well he attempted too but before he could wrap his arms around Flame, the man had already started turning towards him. “Hey Bro. I made some grilled cheese for breakfast if you want to set the table and grab Lomedy and Egg”

Wemmbu hands fell down to his sides. A small frown on his lips from being caught before he could scare surprise Flame with a hug. Flame gave him a small sly grin as if he knew what Wemmbu had planned. Pressing a kiss to Wemmbu’s cheek right as Wemmbu opened his mouth to start complaining. Wemmbu’s mouth fell shut, he sighed. Rolling his eyes dramatically.

“Fineeeee, can I have-“ He started to say, only for Flame to cut him off again. At least he wasn't being all awkward like he had been for the past week.

“I'm cutting up some apples too” Flame cut off. Despite himself, Wemmbu felt a grin tug at his lips, he pecked Flame’s lips. He couldn't help himself, Flame had an annoying charm that only made Wemmbu fall more in love with him with each passing day and perhaps it was a reward for cutting up some of Wemmbu's favourite food. It’s the one food that hasn't changed in all the years that he had been asleep. Wemmbu hands trailed up Flame’s sides until he reached the man's hair, tugging him by his locs lightly forward. Flame let out a small huff but turned slightly to Wemmbu and leaned in. He could feel Flame smiling into the second kiss. He could feel Flame’s hand on his chest softly pushing him away.

“Bro, I'm gonna burn OUR breakfast.” He emphasised. Wemmbu could feel Flame’s gaze from underneath his blindfold watching as if Wemmbu was an enemy who was attacking and distracting him with kisses. Still Wemmbu wasn't gonna let the other god go that easily.

“Uh-huh, come on Flame just one more?” Wemmbu whined, his hands slipping down Flame’s bare torso. He felt Flame shiver under his touch. Before he could complain to the man more, another kiss cut him off. Soft and sweet, a hand around his waist tugging him forward and than slipped lower to rest on his ass. Wemmbu hummed a little pleased noise until the kiss was broken. The hands fell and Wemmbu sighed as Flame pushed him away again- The toast he had been sizzling on the stove, slightly burnt on one side now. Filling the kitchen with a smoky smell, that had him crinkling his nose.

“That one is yours!” Wemmbu called as he finally moved away from bothering Flame. The table was set quickly and Wemmbu headed to Lomedy and Egg’s room. The two had decorated it in soft yellows and egg-shell white. A mix of the godly weapons colors. Bookshelves and weapons hugged the walls. As well as hoes and fishing rods, since the two of them loved to fish. Wemmbu enjoyed joining them every now and again. Wemmbu glanced around the room finding Lomedy sprawled across the bed and on closer inspection he found Egg softly snoring from under Lomedy. Egg had the pillow thrown over him, and Lomedy was sprawled out on top of the man, his foot thrown on top of the pillow covering Egg. He didnt know how either of them were comfy- but it was rare for them to rest in their human forms. He giggled before snatching the blanket off of them.

“Wake up!” He chirped loudly, watching the both of them groan from the loud noise. Egg tugged the pillow to hold it over his ear while Lomedy simply rolled off of Egg. Wemmbu watched in amusement as the two moved on autopilot. Going through their normal routine without batting an eye. Egg finally turned to him after tying his pink tie.

“When did you get here, bro?” His voice was groggy with sleep still and he slowly blinked at him, glancing over at Lomedy. Wemmbu didn’t grace him with an answer, instead laughing- Egg and Lomedy had been staying in their human forms more and more lately, it was cute- Wemmbu still couldn’t figure out what their relationship was, Egg and him cuddled a lot back in the day (When he had missed his brothers and after particular battles that had Wemmbu questioning if it was worth becoming the strongest. Those cold nights helped to have someone so close and while Wemmbu slept, Egg would keep a careful eye out, arms wrapped around protectively.) So that couldn’t be a good indicator on what their dynamic was- and Wemmbu had even asked but the answer he always received was vague- ‘Lomedy is a great fishing partner- he has the best hoes too’ It had gotten to the point the Wemmbu no longer cared, he was just happy that they were united and Egg had a friend.

“Breakfast is ready also later I'm gonna ask Flame to marry me so be prepared!” Wemmbu called out. He heard Lomedy and Egg start coughing but he had already left. He had no doubts that Egg and Lomedy could keep a secret. Egg had kept his whereabouts from his brother when he decided to sleep for 2000 years and well Lomedy liked annoying Flame. So Wemmbu assumed the man wouldn't mind holding the information until Wemmbu proposed. the smell of grilled cheese penetrating the air. Wemmbu hummed, sitting next to Flame. A bowl of sliced apple next to his plate and just like he assumed, Flame gave him a sandwich that hadn't been burnt. Their legs brushing against each other. Breakfast went over smoothly well besides the brief game of footsie under the table. Which Wemmbu won- Dont let Flame tell you otherwise the man was a liar.. Egg had been giving him glances over the table, which Wemmbu had tried to decipher but Egg kept glancing away before he could get a proper look.

“Soooo I want a rematch from the other week- You may have won, But I've been practicing with a spear and I think I could beat you with it now” Wemmbu mentioned, grabbing his now empty plate. He heard Lomedy mutter something to Egg but it was quiet enough he couldn't hear it. Flame coughed, choking on his bite as if it was strange that Wemmbu wanted a rematch. Wemmbu never knew a moment where Flame didn't want to fight.

“Sure for how long bro?” Flame tentatively asked which made Wemmbu pause. He shot him a confused look. Their fights could last for hours or even all day. It's what Wemmbu enjoyed, the constant adrenaline and actually getting tired and sore after a good fight. Although sometimes those fights got cut short when they got distracted by one another. The heated tension boiling over in the middle of a fight that instead of fist clashing against each other, it was lips hard and violent. They never put a time limit on their fights, preferring it unplanned. There were only a few instances when they planned to keep a fight short and that's when they had something planned. Wemmbu squinted and Flame shrugged.

“Did you forget dude?” Egg piped up and Wemmbu turned his head sharply to where Egg was. Egg shook his head in mock disappointment and Wemmbu nose scrunched up. He glanced at Flame and Lomedy. Flame was looking away and whistling and Lomedy was staring at Flame with exasperation. “What did I forget..?”

“You're going to Red’s cafe. They have a special event tonight” Lomedy continued. Wemmbu whipped his head back to Flame. His mouth dropped. He would have remembered if they had a date at Red’s- But maybe he had forgotten? No- He would have remembered!

“No we don't?" Red was notorious for placing papers everywhere when he had an event. Always the business man. Squiddo would have also mentioned it as well when he met up with her last week. She had seemed perfectly normal and didn't carry any of the stress that they usually get when the cafe had an event and was going to have a lot more customers.

“Bro yes you two do?? You and Flame were talking about it after you came home from the cafe last week” Egg pointed out. Which was just another lie. How bad did they think his memory was?

Wemmbu frowned, but Lomedy nodded along and Wemmbu scowled- He couldn't recall a single thing about them discussing going to that cafe. But he knew he couldn't argue against all three of them. He let out a small frustrated sigh, Flame ruffled his hair and gave him a small reassuring smile that looked just a tad bit tense. Wemmbu’s eyes narrowed but he didn't call Flame out on it. Not while Egg and Lomedy seemed to be having his back. Flame’s voice was low and pacifying, "We can spar for a little bit?”

“Yeah okay” Wemmbu mumbled. He frowned, walking to the kitchen and washing the dishes while deep in thought. Perhaps it was the bad sleep getting to him? Flame had asked for space in his dream since last Monday, which Wemmbu didn't mind- He visited other dreams and imported some wise wisdom to his followers like ‘ Pangi dont eat that moldy bread that's disgusting’. Although he hoped Flame would allow him back to his dream soon- Wemmbu might actually start to miss their dream dates. They always made him feel less stressed. Even when it was just the two of them sitting and staring up at the dream version of the night sky.

The fight was nice..That’s a lie it actually went terribly. Flame lost horribly. Continuously. It wasn’t even because of Wemmbu being more skilled with a spear! It was because Flame kept getting distracted and fumbling over his feet. Wemmbu had knocked Flame off his feet more times than he could count. Flame had kept stopping to stare at him- Wemmbu was just wearing his regular sparring clothes! Wemmbu wasn't close enough to see if Flame was blushing. But he knew if he got closer he would have seen a subtle blush on Flame’s cheeks that you could only notice if you looked closely at his dark skin. Wemmbu pinched the bridge of his nose/

Wemmbu didn't know what was wrong with him- all the years Flame and Wemmbu had been together Flame had never been so distracted and off. Not even when they were mad at one another. Maybe in the first couple months of dating he had held back slightly. Which pissed Wemmbu off, he had snapped at him, but Flame assured him it wasnt because he was weak but because Flame was told by mane that he shouldnt hurt him.. Which greatly amused Wemmbu, Mane had some of the worst advice or maybe Flame was just terrible at following it. But well of course there was that one time where Flame had been distracted because he wanted to fuc-

Anyway Wemmbu was pretty sure it wasn't that. Flame was consistent mostly when he fought, he didn't hold back or get distracted like this. Something was bugging him and Wemmbu wanted to know already. It was driving him crazy being constantly left in the dark, with no answer. Not even knowing if he will even get to learn what was bothering Flame so much.

“Alright I'm calling it. I need to get ready for Red’s cafe anyway.” Wemmbu scoffed, rolling his eyes. He reached his arm out and felt Flame’s soft grip as he pulled Flame up. The downside of being a god meant you lost the hardness of your skin from fighting, the callouses that used to be there had faded. Flame frowned softly as if he knew Wemmbu was annoyed. Small traces of sweat dripped down his forehead. “Sorry, It wasn't the best fight bro. I have a lot on my mind.”

“I hadn't noticed.” Wemmbu said dryly. He leveled Flame with an unimpressed glare. Flame rolled his eyes back. Nudging him slightly with his shoulder with an amused smile. “I was picturing you all dressed up actually. Red’s cafe theme is moonlight, remember?”

“No, because we never talked about it before.” Wemmbu squinted- Egg might have been somewhat convincing but Flame would crack easily if pressured about the lie. Lomedy and Egg weren't here to distract and save Flame.

“Bro. I don't know what you mean, we did talk about it- last month- last week! Have you been sleeping alright?” Flame tilted his head and Wemmbu could see the way he easily tensed up. Wemmbu scowled, How dare this hot man ruin his plans to propose to him. Wemmbu took a deep breath. It was fine. Wemmbu was adaptable. He could adapt to this. He adapted to far more stressful situations and he wasn't annoyed at all!

“Lie all you want, Flame. But I’m onto you” Wemmbu pointed to his eyes then pointed to Flame as he walked backwards into the house. Hitting the wall and stumbling back before looking back up at Flame and continuing the motion. He could see the faint smile on Flame’s lips but he also looked incredibly tense. Suspicious..

Wemmbu ducked into their room picking some outfits to try on. He rushed over to the bathroom right as Flame was about to go in and shut the door on him quickly.

“Too slow!” Wemmbu called through the door. Wemmbu smirked- the hot water was heavenly and he took extra time to use it all up. A small act of spite for Flame being so horrendous at their fight. Wemmbu hummed softly, he even preened his wings. He spread them out around the room. Finding an inner feather- he bit his lip to muffle any pained noise and plucked it. He stared at the feather; it was a perfect proposal feather. And if the sky civilization was still alive today would praise. The feather was medium length, perhaps five inches. A deep purple that shone in the light and so clearly Wemmbu’s that anyone who knew him well would know it was his. He grabbed a gold chain, tying the feather onto it. He added the ring as well. Simple and gold with a red and purple gem.

Wemmbu swallowed. The idea of Flame becoming his fiancee suddenly felt real. Flame- the love of his life. The man who constantly challenged him was going to be his for the rest of eternity. Now all he had to do was wait for the right moment, since they were going to Red’s cafe it wasn’t a guarantee that they would make it to the temple. But Wemmbu would be ready, he just had to trust his instincts.

With a new found excitement he got ready in the “moonlight” theme whatever that meant. He wore a white ruffled shirt, with some high waisted dark pants. Throwing on a dark purple corset and a purple coat over his shoulder. The final touch was hiding the chain in the inner pocket of his coat.

Wemmbu left the bathroom. Turning to Flame who was leaning against the wall waiting for him. Flame looked up, his eyes softened and he stared at Wemmbu with the same dumb look he had been giving Wemmbu the whole day. It made his insides flip and his heart raced whenever he saw it on Flame’s face. Wemmbu had thought that Flame might grow bored of him.. But he still looked at him like the day they first met.

“You look good.” Flame whispered quietly. Wemmbu’s breath hitch; it was like he was still a kid with his first crush and he smiled softly. His cheeks were warm and he looked away. “Yeah?”

“Yeah,” Flame agreed. Wemmbu looked back and he could see Flame lean in. His eyes fluttered shut as their lips met. The kiss was tentative, a slowness that only develops when they know that nothing is gonna interrupt them. Wemmbu could smell the sweat that still lingered on Flame’s skin, Wemmbu pulled back with a laugh, lightly pushing reminiscent of what Flame did to him in the kitchen. Nudging the other god towards the shower. “Well you stink.”

Wemmbu smiled as he watched Flame head into the bathroom, not needing much convincing. Although Wemmbu was pretty sure he saw a eyeroll. Wemmbu could forgive Flame’s strange acts for a second. Nothing was gonna stop him from proposing to the biggest annoyance and love of his life today. While Flame showered, Wemmbu headed to Egg’s room.

“You look good bro!” Egg called out immediately. Wemmbu felt his lips tug into a smile just from being in Egg’s presence. Lomedy laid on his stomach on the bed. For once not being out with his farms. Egg hands were smudged with ink. Despite his plan being ‘go with the flow’ it didnt help to have a backup plan aka his original plan ready in the event something happened. “Look Egg you know mine and Flame’s temple? The old one, I want to propose there. Can you set it up while we're at dinner?”

Egg stiffened, He glanced over to where Lomedy was reading. Lomedy gave him a helpless shrug and Egg sighed and nodded his head. “Sure bro, How do you want it set up?”

Wemmbu didn't have much time to analyze the look shared between the two godly weapons. Instead explaining how he wanted the temple set up. Wemmbu just wanted it clean with some white, red and purple flowers. The temple stayed rather clean, Flame and Wemmbu both kept up with cleaning it. It was a tradition to leave something for the other when they left to do something by themselves. Flame didn't take too long in the shower. Wemmbu could hear the door creek open and soon Flame would be coming in here to ask if Wemmbu was ready. Wemmbu stepped out, heading towards where Flame was tugging a satchel over himself.

“Ready?” Wemmbu nodded in response. Calling out to Egg and Lomedy a goodbye. The walk wouldn't be too long, an hour. It was worth the trip to come out anyway. and the tension that Flame had earlier seemed to disperse. They intertwined pinkies as they walked. Loose in case the other wanted to wander off. Wemmbu could see the faint outline of the village. The sky had darkened with clouds, it was a while till it would get truly dark. Wemmbu frowned; he didn't like the rain much, it often messed with how fast he could fly.

“Looks like it's going to rain.” He hummed. Flame shrugged, he gave a light tug on Wemmbu and pulled him closer. Letting go of Wemmbu’s hand to put his arm on his shoulder instead. “Don’t worry Bro, I’ll save you from a little rain.”

Wemmbu laughed loudly- nudging Flame with an elbow. Flame looked good- A similar but more relaxed version of what Wemmbu was wearing in blacks and reds. His locs were recently redone, Mane had come over to retwist them. He wore a satchel which Wemmbu playfully made fun of him for carrying around. Flame had simply rolled his eyes, pushing the satchel out of Wemmbu’s view. The walk was nice, They had made it before it rained. Red’s cafe was decorated in dark blues colors. The theme moonlight was spot on, stars and constellations lining the wall. Wemmbu wondered if Squiddo painted them. It seemed to be right up her alley. If Wemmbu didn't know any better, he would think they walked in the wrong place. It looked like a high class restaurant and not the small cute cafe it usually was. Squiddo greeted them, leading them to one of the tables.

“Hello! It’s nice to see you both. Ash forgot to advertise, so it'll just be you two in here.” She chirped. Wemmbu nodded to her words, his eyebrows scrunching up together. It was odd, Ash was always good at remembering and well it was surprising that Red had let it happen. Wemmbu only met the man a few times, But he knew that Red was very careful and diligent about his business. Not only that he didn't spot any of the other regulars that came. It was just them.

Wemmbu glanced at the menu- A few new specials which were very different from the typical sandwiches and treats that they usually sold in the cafe. He scanned the new items. There was a soft sound of music filling the room and glanced over to see that Ash was playing a violin almost lazily. Squiddo appeared with both Flame and Wemmbu’s drinks. Wemmbu smiled gratefully at her.

“What are you thinking of getting?” Flame voice cuts through. Wemmbu watched as the man barely looked at the menu. But considering how odd he was acting, Wemmbu decided to ignore it.

“The specials look good” Wemmbu hummed, Wemmbu almost had trouble deciding they all had items that he thoroughly enjoyed. He turned to Squiddo, chatting with her about each item before deciding on one. “Ill have the apple chicken skillet, and I’ll just steal from Flame if I don't like it”

Squiddo laughed brightly, jotting it down. Flame had rolled his eyes playfully. They talked lightly about anything and everything- Mostly it was Wemmbu making fun of him for his awful sparing skills. It was peaceful and soon their food came out. Wemmbu stole a couple bites of Flame’s food. Before pausing as he saw Flame was just starring. The same tense atmosphere from earlier coming back. Wemmbu sighed, Was this a break up? The thought struck him like lightning. It would explain Flame’s odd behavior. His hand clenched under the table.

“Whats up with you? You've been acting strange all day.” Wemmbu accused. Tired of all these weird stares and tense silences. He was done with Flame acting like someone was gonna attack him any moment. They were gods not wanted criminals! (Well they weren’t wanted at the moment) He grit his teeth watching as Flame finally stopped staring, snapping up straight in his seat.

“Wemmbu it's nothing. You're making a big deal of nothing” Flame said stiffly, his hand tightened on the fork. Again deflection. Flame’s other hand reached to pinch the fabric that covered his eyes. Wemmbu knew he wasn't making a big deal out of nothing- This behaviour had been happening all week, although not as noticeable as it was today. Each time Flame told him nothing, not even a proper explanation. Wemmbu would have been fine if Flame just simply told him he needed space, they had needed space from one another before and it wasn't a big deal since they knew they would come back together once more.

“Ive let it go all day- Also I KNOW we didn't talk about going to Red’s cafe before hand.” He stood up, hands on the table. He pointed to Flame before gesturing wildly to the decorated room. It was quiet, eerily so- Squiddo and Ash had left as soon and there was no music or quiet chatter heard from either of them that could distract Wemmbu.

“Bro- Just don't worry about it.” Flame’s dropped his fork. Standing up to be level with Wemmbu. His hands up as if to pacify him. But Wemmbu was already worked up- He thought Flame valued honesty so why was he hiding things from him? To protect him? To not hurt his feelings? Wemmbu almost laughed at the idea.

“Did I do something wrong? Is this why you kicked me out of your dreams?” His voice softened slightly. He didn't mean to sound so hurt when he said it but he couldn't contain the feeling. His stomach twisted, He saw Flame mouth drop. Wemmbu was fine with giving Flame space but.. With how he was acting Wemmbu couldn't help but think there was more to it.

“I just needed space! Nothing suspicious about that!” Flame huffed, his voice rising high and defensive. He was lying. Wemmbu shoulders dropped and he swore under his breath. He took a deep breath- A part of him wanted to scream, to fight it out. But the reasonable part held him back. He was sick and tired of this and the chain with the ring and feather felt heavy in his pocket.

“Whatever. I'm heading home.” He muttered. He walked out of the room, leaving some gold coins on the counter for Squiddo. As soon as he was outside he could feel the cold wind blow. The light drizzle of rain dropped down and Wemmbu ignored Flame’s outraged protest. Wemmbu took a shuddering breath and flew. He could feel his anger dissipate into the wind as he flew. He had no set direction, just soaring through the sky. Unfortunately it started to rain harder. So he flew close to the ground, finding that small dingy temple. Of course he would end up here.

“Hey Egg,” He called softly. The old temple was decorated in flowers just like Wemmbu asked. The cracks in the roof dripped water, but it was better than staying out in the heavy rain. Wemmbu could feel a chill go down his spine. He shook his hair feeling the water drip down. He glanced over at the altar, a collection of Flame’s sculpture and Wemmbu’s trinkets he left for Flame, He tugged on the bond for Egg, summoning the weapon to him. “Bro I was right here you didn’t-“

Egg blinked- the godly weapon tilting his large eye in confusion. Back in his angel like form, which Wemmbu found more comforting. Egg scanning Wemmbu with his huge eye and pulled him into a hug. Wemmbu didn't hesitate to reach up and wrap his arms around the weapon. “We fought”

“Oh you idiot,” Egg mumbled under his breath, he patted Wemmbu back and Wemmbu took a step back. He huffed and gave Egg an annoyed glare. He swallowed the lump in his throat, the doubt crawling in, when he saw Flame would he admit to wanting to break up?

“Hey” Wemmbu protested, the blank look Egg conveyed shut him up. But he couldn’t hold back the annoyed glare he gave Egg, Egg quickly added on ”It true isn't it? Your an idiot now. Come on, tell me what happened.”

Wemmbu explained and he felt himself wilt under Egg’s gaze like the man knew Wemmbu hadn’t heard Flame out and simply jumped to conclusion. He felt the wound up feeling fading away leaving nothing but a wisp of regret and guilt for jumping to conclusion. Although it wasn't entirely his fault, Egg reminded him of the fact.

“You both suck at communicating but it's okay you're both growing and will learn more on how to communicate, we can't all be like me and Lomedy.” Egg said in a wise voice. The kind that made him laugh at how he was being lectured but also made him think about what was being said. He lightly punched Egg’s shoulders and let out a simple “D’Alrighttttt”

“Flame has a lot on his mind from what Lomedy told me.” Egg muttered vaguely. Wemmbu sighed, he decided to drop asking questions that he knew Egg wouldn’t answer. There was no way Egg knew if Flame was breaking up with him.

A steady quiet filled the air, broken only by the sound of steps. Wemmbu sighed he knew Flame would catch up. He always did. Wemmbu stepped out of the temple and into the rain. Seeing Flame’s blurry figure approach, they walk inside and he glances seeing that Egg had transformed probably to give the semblance of privacy but also remain near and comforting.

“Hey” Flame is quiet as he enters, Fragger on his hip glimmering in the night. No doubt that Flame had summoned Lomedy to talk too. Wemmbu is quiet, but he steps back further to add some more space in between then, if Flame wanted space Wemmbu would give it to him. Wemmbu waves, a small frown on his lips.

“Sorry about earlier. It was a mess.” Wemmbu raises an eyebrow at Flame’s words but before he could question Flame he stops himself, Egg’s words echoing in the back of his mind ‘Flame has a lot on his mind, give him some wiggle room’ or something along those lines. He sighed and gestured for him to continue. It was obvious that Lomedy had talked to him about this.

“Ive been acting odd because I've been stressed out planning this night out and wanted to keep it a surprise and also..” Flame trailed off and Wemmbu adjusted his posture to be less stand offish. Oh. That made sense. Flame hadn’t wanted Wemmbu to catch on. He almost felt dumb at the revelation. It all made sense and he felt bad for ruining it, an apology tumbling off his tongue.

“Being Immortal is a huge adjustment. I'm still not used to it even after all these years and I really appreciate you being by my side. You've been a huge part of my life and you always manage to piss- challenge me.” Wemmbu felt himself softened at Flame's words. Wemmbu knew the difficulty that Flame felt. He would see Flame stare as a wound heals quicker than normal, or how Flame’s mind would twist some nights and bring them into a nightmare of when he almost died. Even after all this time he still found it offputting.

“I guess what im trying to say-” Wemmbu barely heard Flame’s words, his heart thumping heavily in his chest. Wemmbu loves this man- Even when he acts stupid. He couldn't imagine spending eternity without him anymore. He couldn't help but blurt out what he was holding in the whole day.

“Flame, will you marry me?”

“Wemmbu, will you marry me?”

They stared at each other in awkward silence, Wemmbu cracked first and he burst out laughing. But he sees the competitive look in Flame eyes and at the same time they both scramble to get on one knee. Wemmbu lurches forward, hand halfway grabbing the necklace and Flame does too, Wemmbu feels the dull pain as he falls onto the floor. They wrestle around, and Wemmbu is almost on top, before flame is pinning him down beneath him. Flame halfway grabbing something out the satchel. Wemmbu shoves the chain over Flame’s head. Just as Flame places something down on him. Wemmbu feels a wide grin spread across his lips. Flame is straddling him with an annoyed competitive smirk.

”Bro seriously?” He huffs and Wemmbu laughs in response. He reaches up and drags the thing off his head. His breath catches, warmth blooms in his stomach. Bubbling up and consuming him, it's a tiara. Delicate and intricate but the gems are durable and there’s a faint glimmer that Wemmbu knows that it's enchanted. He looks up to see Flame glancing down at the chain. Flame looks back to him and Wemmbu smiles softly. Flame knows the importance of the feather. It signifies everlasting loyalty to someone, that even in death Wemmbu wouldn’t move on.

“I won, I said it first,” Wemmbu declares. Flame looks down at him with an expression that radiates disbelief and annoyance. “Bro there is no way you said it first”

Wemmbu shuts Flame up with a kiss. It’s warm and deliberate, they’re both soaked to the bone. But Flame is radiating off heat and Wemmbu bites at his bottom lip. His hands reached up to tug him closer.

”I love you” Flame whispers, pulling back barely. Before hes diving back in for another kiss. Wemmbu takes a moment to catch his breath when Flame finally gives him room to breathe “I know”

“Let's get married already” Wemmbu hums. Flame’s mask has fallen off sometime in between the kisses, dragged down awkwardly over his nose. Flame reaches up to pull it off completely. Wemmbu smiles at the sight, the two toned eyes, one looking like caramel and the other a deep rich black. It's beautiful and Wemmbu finds himself lost in them.

“Youre impossible princess we just got engaged” Flame laughs and Wemmbu can fell his breath against his skin. He gives Flame an annoyed glare at the awful nickname. Deciding to tease him Flame for it. “oh my god I almost gagged, can we call off the wedding?”

Flame is moving off of him. He quickly sits up to whine about the loss and that he was only joking. But he can see that annoyed and smitten look on Flame’s face. He pulls Wemmbu up along with him.

“Come on, let's get married already. Lomedy can officiate” On cue both weapons transform. Egg and Lomedy both look ready to say something. But they pause. They can see the way that Flame is looking at Wemmbu like he hung up the stars and that he was the reason that humans dreamt in the first place. But Wemmbu was no different, a soft look only reserved for Flame; it spoke of violence. I would kill for you, I would fight with you and I will challenge you. But also love.

All complaints were swallowed. In the temple just for two, two hearts that belonged together, bound both by fate and love were finally one. They had wound back at Red’s cafe and had the other join them in the celebration and at the end of the night after partying took place. Three words left Flame and Wemmbu’s lips.

I love you

End note
Hellloooo! So lots of things happened which hinder me from making this. (Procrastination, college and my cat is very sick and I’m across the world) But i’m happy to finally finish this chapter. Lots of tangle refs unintentionally but hey it's cute. There are a lot of references to many fairy tales in this story. (My inspiration for sleeping god was sleeping beauty)The maneishere chapter is probably gonna take a while because I want to make it long and more focused on developing their relationship and then have an epilogue of their wedding? Also I'm not sure exactly what the plot will be. These chapters are mostly them getting engage. >.< I might be re-editing the sleeping god chapter soon/ but no promises if that will happen!! And the vigilante chapter is coming but like I said I got stuff going on so it's a slow process but im gonna try to make it 10,000 words to make up for it! Lots of love <3
