Chapter Text
While walking back to his room Pure Vanilla was going through things he needed to bring in his head, before he heard a familiar voice. “Pure Vanilla!” His sister's voice called from down the hall. He turned around to face his sister Moonflower who was currently speed walking to catch up to him.
“Hey! Sorry for shouting, you weren’t responding when I first called your name while you passed me a moment ago, so I assumed you were lost in thought.” She smiled at him “I was just wondering where you’ve been, if you’re willing to tell me of course, it is your business after all” Moonflower said, still smiling.
“Just.. meeting with a friend.” Pure Vanilla replied nonchalantly, shrugging a little, as he turned away, “Wait, a friend?” Moonflower looked at him confused for a second, before her face changed to a big smile. “I’m so happy you’re making friends!” She clasped her hands together and her silver wings fluttered behind her happily. “What's their name?” She questioned
“His name is Blueberry Milk Cookie” He replied quietly, turning back around to face Moonflower. “He is from a place called the Yogurt Village…No, he isn’t a faerie if you’re going to ask” He added. She stared at him for a moment before something seemed to click in her mind. “Is he the reason you’ve been going out every afternoon?” She smiled again. “Yeah.. so?” Pure Vanilla cookie mumbled, looking away from his sister. Moonflower’s smile brightened even more.
“Ah, I won't tease you about it… For now!” she waved her hand dismissively, still smiling.
Pure Vanilla felt his face heat up a bit before turning back to face his sister again.
“ANYWAY, I will be out for the rest of this week starting tomorrow.” He states avoiding eye contact. “Oh? Where are you going, if you don’t mind me asking?” Moonflower asks curiously.
“Blueberry Milk invited me to stay over at the Yogurt Village for a while.” He answers dismissively while Moonflower’s smile returns, but this time more of a smirk. “Hehehe! Okayyy Haaave fuuuuun!!” she replied in a sing-song tone. Feeling his face get warmer every moment he stood there, Pure Vanilla turned away from his sister and began to head towards his room again.
---------------------------------
The next day, Blueberry Milk was standing at their usual spot, waiting for Pure Vanilla. He was thinking about where the best place to show Pure Vanilla first. He should probably show him the Inn first! But, it is getting closer to winter break, so other cookies from near and far might be coming in to visit their loved ones, so there might not be many spare rooms in the two main Inns. Blueberry Milk did have a spare room, but should that be a last resort? Maybe it would be best to ask Pure Vanilla if he would prefer an Inn or his guest room?
Speaking of Pure Vanilla, Blueberry Milk felt a tap on his shoulder. When he looked up, Pure Vanilla was standing next to him. “So, are you playing solitaire again, or were you lost in thought?” He asked, adjusting the satchel around his shoulder, which Blueberry noticed was a different one than last time, this time matching the color scheme of his whole outfit, and it was also noticeably larger in size. “Ah! No solitaire match today, I’m afraid, simply thinking!” Blueberry Milk shrugged as he turned around to face the leaf covered path that would lead them to the Yogurt Village.
As the two walked, Blueberry Milk was yapping away, talking about all the interesting things that he wishes to show Pure Vanilla. Pure Vanilla was simply listening to Blueberry Milk speak as he usually did, if Blueberry Milk wasn’t so caught up in talking he might’ve noticed the slight smile that was pasted on Pure Vanilla’s face.
After about five minutes, they were about to enter the Yogurt Village, which then reminded Blueberry Milk about the dilemma he was thinking about before his friend showed up. Blueberry Milk paused his walking, and as he did, so did Pure Vanilla, right beside him.
“I have a question for you, friend.” Blueberry Milk said as he turned to face Pure Vanilla. Pure Vanilla hummed in response, signaling for him to continue. “Would you like to stay in my spare guest room during your stay, or would you prefer to stay in one of the Yogurt Village’s inns?” He questioned. Pure Vanilla thought about it for a moment. “Guest room, please.” Pure Vanilla replied simply.
“Alrighty then!” Blueberry Milk smiled.
----------------------------------
The duo entered the village, Blueberry Milk had started yapping about something else, occasionally stopping to point out something to Pure Vanilla. The walk to Blueberry Milk’s house had them passing by a very pretty looking fountain that had a couple cookies talking and enjoying each other's company. There were a few younger cookies running around and playing. One or two cookies spotted Blueberry Milk and walked up to say hello. As they did so, a young cookie with two white wings tripped over what seemed to be literally nothing and fell face first on the floor, as their friend shouted “COFFEE-”. After a short moment the young cookie got up, dusted themself off, shook off their wings, and then returned to playing what looked like a game of tag.
The two cookies that came over to say hi to Blueberry Milk left, and the duo continued walking.
It wasn't that much longer before they had arrived at Blueberry's home, it was a quaint building, it had a white exterior with a nice blue door. The roof was blue as well but it seemed to be decorated with white spots painted to look like stars. Blueberry Milk held the door open so Pure Vanilla could walk inside, “Welcome to my humble abode!” Blueberry Milk smiled cheerfully as he closed the door. “Here! Let me show you the way to the guest room!”
Pure Vanilla followed the excited cookie upstairs as he was led to the room where he would be staying in for the week. It was a very cozy room, there was a window with a spot for someone to sit and look out into the village. There was a quaint little desk with two bookshelves on either side, across from the bed that had a white rug beneath it. The bed was not made, however, the bedding was neatly folded and placed near the headboard. There was also a dresser placed at the foot of the bed, and there were two nightstands on either side of the bed.
“Do you like the room? Sorry the bed isn’t made- I didn’t know whether you would’ve preferred to stay at an inn or here so I didn’t prepare it beforehand!” Blueberry Milk said with a nervous smile on his face. “No need to worry, I can make the bed, it's okay. It is a very cozy room. Thank you for letting me stay here.” Pure Vanilla said as he placed his satchel down and went to grab the bedding. “Is there anything you need? Any extra pillows? Blankets?” Blueberry Milk questioned as he fidgeted with the hem of his sleeve. “No, not at the moment, I think.” Pure Vanilla replied “Alright then! I will let you get settled in! My room is the one two doors down from yours!” Blueberry Milk smiled. “The small door in the middle is the closet” He added “I will be downstairs if you need me!” He said as he got to the door. “Would you like your door open or closed?” He asked. “Cracked open works fine.” Pure Vanilla replied as he put the comforter on. “Okie dokie!” Blueberry Milk chimed as he left.
Pure Vanilla finished making the bed, and grabbed his satchel off the floor. Inside there were many things, a few of those things being; a few sets of clothing that all looked the same or similar enough. He liked dressing a certain way, and didn’t see a need for much variation, unless it was a special event. Some books to read, some books he thought Blueberry Milk might like, and a small journal.
------------------------------------
Pure Vanilla came downstairs and saw Blueberry Milk sitting down on the couch reading the book Pure Vanilla had given him the other day. The fact that Blueberry Milk enjoyed his gift caused him to smile as he continued down the stairs.
“So, do you like the book?” Pure Vanilla questioned as he walked over to Blueberry Milk, “Oh, and may I sit here?” Pure Vanilla asked as he stood next to the couch Blueberry Milk was on. “Pure Vanilla! Of course you can sit!” Blueberry Milk smiled as he looked up from the book. “And yes! It is very interesting! Thank you so much for the gift!” He said as his smile widened even more! “I’m glad you like it.” Pure Vanilla said, looking away from Blueberry Milk who was practically glowing.
“Oh! Yes!” Blueberry Milk spoke suddenly as he closed the book. “I wanted to show you around the Yogurt Village!” He said cheerfully as he placed the book down on the side table. “Sounds good.” Pure Vanilla said as he got up from the couch. Blueberry Milk followed soon after and the two left Blueberry Milk’s home.
They walked back and passed by the fountain again, this time Pure Vanilla noticed that the children that were here earlier are not here anymore, seemingly moved on to play somewhere else. The duo walked throughout the Village this time with Blueberry Milk walking around to many locations to show them to Pure Vanilla. They stopped by a few shops and stalls, a couple cafés. The sun was slowly lowering in the sky and the duo were once again walking past the fountain as a high pitched voice suddenly called out; "PROFESSOR BLUEBERRY MILK COOKIE!!!!!!!!!” The two looked around before something collided with Blueberry Milk’s middle. “Candy Apple… Try NOT to crumble Professor Blueberry Milk please-” A second much calmer, slightly annoyed voice called after the collision. “Oh! Candy Apple! Black Sapphire! Good to see you both!” Blueberry Milk said slightly winded as he hugged back the young cookie that rammed into him a moment ago. “We saw you walking and decided to come say ‘Hi’!!!” Candy Apple said excitedly as she released Blueberry Milk. “I came to say ‘Hi’, YOU apparently came to ram into him like a goat.” Black Sapphire shrugged. The younger cookie crossed her arms and let out a “hmph!”
Black Sapphire looked up and noticed Pure Vanilla standing. “Ah, Hello there! You must be Professor Blueberry Milk Cookie’s Friend, yes? It’s a pleasure to meet you” Black Sapphire said as he held his hand out. Pure Vanilla shook his hand as he nodded. “Oh yes! Candy Apple, Black Sapphire, This is Pure Vanilla Cookie! Pure Vanilla, these are two of my best students, Candy Apple Cookie, and Black Sapphire Cookie!” Blueberry Milk smiled as he gestured from Pure Vanilla to the two young cookies. “HIII!!!” The Candy Apple waved excitedly as Black Sapphire bowed respectfully. Pure Vanilla waved back, but less aggressively than Candy Apple did.
Black Sapphire looked at the sky then looked back towards the group. “It’s getting late, Candy and I should be heading home for today. Again, It was a pleasure to meet you Pure Vanilla Cookie!” Pure Vanilla nodded “It was a pleasure to meet you too.”
The two duos parted ways, going off in two different directions. Pure Vanilla and Blueberry Milk got back to the house as the first few stars started appearing in the sky. Once they entered the house Blueberry Milk walked over to the kitchen. “Ah- it seems I forgot to buy groceries the other day, and I was so distracted showing you around, I didn’t actually buy anything.” Blueberry Milk sighed. “Well, I do have some leftover candy pasta if you would like some!” He asked as he looked back to Pure Vanilla who had followed him into the kitchen. “Sure, I’m not that hungry so could I only get a small portion?” Pure Vanilla replied. “Of course! I will go out for groceries tomorrow so I’m able to make other foods!” Blueberry Milk smiles as he portioned out some candy pasta for both him and Pure Vanilla. He put the plates in the microwave and the duo ate their meals.
After the two ate they both went upstairs. “Remember! If you need anything, I’m just down the hall!” Blueberry Milk said happily as Pure Vanilla opened the door to the guest room. “Mhm, Thank you again for letting me stay here Blueberry Milk.” Pure Vanilla Replied, his cape moved a little from his wings fluttering beneath it. “Of course!!” Blueberry Milk smiled again.
Pure Vanilla sat down on the bed as he grabbed some of the books he picked out for Blueberry Milk and smiled. He decided he would try to give the books to Blueberry Milk tomorrow if he remembered. He placed them down on one of the nightstands, then grabbed a journal and a pencil from his bag. He wasn’t feeling that tired, so he decided to draw.
After a few minutes Pure Vanilla looked at the page and noticed tiny doodles of Blueberry Milk surrounding his other drawings of things like flowers, or sheep. He felt his face heat up ever so slightly then he closed his journal and placed it in the drawer of the nightstand on his left.
He let his head sink into the pillow and the blankets engulfed him comfortably as his eyes shut slowly while he drifted off to sleep.
