Work Text:
Another day another shift. Tom finished his wurstl and started heading back home. Stopped short to see a familiar figure on the bridge, started waving but her attention was wholly focused on someone else. Someone who was smiling very intently at Dr Wallner. Tom raised his eyebrows. Dr Wallner was certainly not complaining. He had never seen the woman flirt before, not even with her husband. The husband that had dumped her on their 20th wedding anniversary. Bastard. He’d run around naked for a week on a workshop, thought he had found enlightenment and all of a sudden cut his wife loose like baggage. Not that she was crying over him now. She looked happy. Really happy. He tried lip reading what she was saying but he was too far away. He thought he got the gist of it. Whoever this woman was, she knew how to flatter, Marie Theres had the starry-eyed look of someone who was the only person that mattered at that moment. He gasped as the other woman pulled her forward by the coat lapels. Marie Theres had her hand on the other woman’s cheek, no talking anymore.
Now he saw why Marie Theres kept going back to the Pussycat bar like a homing pigeon. It wasn’t just her need to find new friends. It was the charms of this long legged dark eyed specimen that she was currently snogging the face off in the corner.
Tom was enchanted. His friend had confessed that she had met someone and what a woman she had met. She was like Bambi taking her first steps into a new world. He grinned and exited stage left. He couldn’t wait to hear about it on the weekend.
