Mariposa wasn’t usually the type to let down a chance to dance with a friend.
She loved it, especially when that someone was Carlos.
However, tonight, her plans were a little different.
She hummed and turned her gaze to a certain someone, her laughter unmistakable.
Carlos’s eyes widened. He nodded and nudged her, taking the rejection gracefully.
The butterfly fairy smiled in kind, happy he understood, then fluttered by.
Catania gave her a curious glance once she approached, her laughter a little quieter between Willa and Talayla's, Lord Gastrous’s cheeks red in embarrassment.
She tilted her head.
Mariposa grinned.
“May I?” she asked, one hand extended, the rest of her posture curved appropriately.
Her books had said a one ninety-degree bow was proper.
Catania’s face softened pink, her eyes twinkling in surprise.
Willa’s jaw dropped. Talayala blinked. Lord Gastrous stared.
Mariposa contained a giggle, waiting as Catania took her hand.
“Yes!” her friend beamed, already pulling her toward the dancing room, exclaiming in delight.
Mariposa smiled, delighted by her sheer joy.
Carlos’s smile was exasperated but utterly fond as he watched them go—unhinging Willa’s jaw in the process.
