Work Text:
The darkness of the room was hard to adjust to. Jasper had barely opened his eyes as his dream ended. Even though his mind was a little hazy, Jasper wanted to tell Bunny about it. That was something he always did whenever he woke from dreams in the middle of the night. Yet, Jasper never remembered telling Bunny about them when the other man would mention the previous night's events to him the next day. “Bunny, you won't believe the dream I had.” Jasper started to roll over to face Bunny. “I was at an Oasis band camp and we were going to perform in groups.” He went to lay his arm across Bunny's torso. “And I was gonna sing “Champagne Supernova.”” When his hand hit the empty space, Jasper quickly sat up. His sleep filled eyes scanned the dark room. “Bunny?”
There was no answer. Jasper peered around the small room some more. That was when he noticed the bedroom door was open. He figured Bunny had to go to the bathroom. Jasper checked the alarm clock. It said 1:39am. They had just gone to bed about an hour ago. In Jasper's mind Bunny needing to use the bathroom so soon didn't make sense. But at the same time, he wouldn't judge. Jasper laid back down on the bed with a yawn. He would stay awake until Bunny came back to bed.

Bunny wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. He had just heaved up the dinner that he and Jasper had that evening. All Bunny knew was that if he never had veal cordon bleu again that would just be fine with him. The only reason Jasper and him even had such a meal was that they were having Valentine's Day a day late. His idea. Bunny figured the day after the prices at a restaurant wouldn't have been so ridiculously high. He was only somewhat right.
But that didn't stop Jasper and him ordering a meal neither of them had ever ate before. And the way Bunny wobbled as he stood up, he greatly regretted doing so. “Fucking next thing I'm going to chuck up is the pudding.” He flushed the toilet and stumbled out of the bathroom back to his bedroom.
*~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*
The bedroom was still and silent as Bunny reappeared at the door. He was grateful to know that Jasper was fast asleep. He crept quietly towards the bed to rejoin his boyfriend.
“Bunny?” Jasper shot up when he heard a light shuffling that was coming towards the bed. “You okay?”
Bunny mentally swore at hearing Jasper's voice. Not out of frustration that Jasper was up but more so frustrated with himself that he had seemed to wake him up. “Yeah, lovey, just fine. Had to take a piss.” Bunny could feel his stomach churn at the thought of the bathroom. “That's all.” He couldn't blame the food for how he felt; Jasper was just fine. But he refused to admit that he was sick; he rarely got sick. “M'coming.” Bunny mumbled as he shuffled back to the bed. But he stopped halfway there. His stomach had decided to protest at his moving. Bunny lightly placed his hand on his stomach and took a slow, deep breath in.
Jasper could see that Bunny was not coming back to the bed. He leaned over to turn the bedside lamp on. With the room illuminated, Jasper could fully see Bunny and anything he may have been hiding. He easily saw Bunny somewhat hunched over as he held his stomach. Jasper tilted his head. “You sure you're okay?”
The urge to bite back at Jasper, to almost snidely remark that he was fine, died within Bunny when he felt his stomach lurch at his swift movement as he tried to stand up straight. “Yeah.” He breathed out. “Why?”
Jasper vaguely shrugged his shoulders. “It's the middle of the night. Why are you up?”
“Said I had to piss.” Bunny angrily retorted.
“Mhmm.” Jasper idly nodded his head. “You went piss before we went to bed.” He crossed his arms. “Are you having stomach problems?” He gestured to Bunny's hand as it clutched his stomach. “I did warn you that veal cordon bleu wouldn't go with banoffee pie.”
Bunny was a little insulted by Jasper's assumption. At the same time he wasn't going to admit that he was more than likely sick. “No, I'm not having stomach problems.” He said a little more defensively than he would have liked. Bunny felt a slight panic crawl up his back when Jasper threw the covers off of him. “Wh-where are you going?” In his mind Jasper was going to call his bluff and go into the bathroom and immediately smell something was off.
Jasper didn't answer Bunny as he got out of the warm bed. He walked right up to his boyfriend. “Let me feel your forehead.” He reached his hand out to do just that. Bunny smacked his hand away. Jasper placed his hands on his hips. “You're sick, aren't you?”
“No. Just exhausted from the night's events.” Bunny smiled the smile he used when he tried to charm people. At least that was what he was doing in his mind. However, the way Jasper was looking at him told Bunny that he was more than likely not giving his signature grin.
“Let me feel your forehead.” Jasper repeated as he reached out his hand once more. It was batted away again but that time Jasper moved his other hand to feel Bunny's forehead. The two of them got into a small battle as Jasper tried to feel Bunny's forehead and Bunny would smack away Jasper's hands. “Stop.” Jasper took a step back. “Bunny, I know you're sick.”
“M'fine, Jasey Lovey.” Bunny lied. His stomach was starting to have that familiar pain that woke him from his slumber a good half hour ago. “I just need to go back to bed. Sleep. So that I can go to work tomorrow.”
Jasper shook his head. “Yeah, no. You're not going to work tomorrow. I'll call the boutique in the morning and let them know you're dreadfully ill.”
Bunny could feel the bile as it wanted to rise up from his stomach. “Won't need,” He took a deep breath in as he tried to will the feeling away. “to do that. I–”
Jasper stared down at Bunny. “I can either call them tomorrow and say you're ill or that you have diarrhea. Your choice.”
Bunny's mood soured more than it already was. “You wouldn't dare.”
Once again Jasper crossed his arms. But that time there was an air of superiority, a challenge in his stance as he looked down at Bunny. “Wouldn't I?”
There was a mini standoff between Bunny and Jasper. Bunny refused to crack first. Unfortunately, his stomach had other ideas. He could feel the rest of the veal cordon bleu and the banoffee pie rise up his esophagus. “Fuck.” Bunny threw his hand up to his mouth to try and stop it. A little vomit hit his hand before he ran as fast as he could to the bathroom.
Jasper sighed as he heard Bunny vomit. He walked out of the bedroom towards the bathroom. He turned the hallway light on as he made his way to in the bathroom's doorway. Once there he turned on the bathroom's light. “So, what do you want me to tell your work? That you're sick or that you have diarrhea?” Bunny lifted his head and lolled it to the side as he looked up at him. The tiny bit of superiority that Jasper was able to build, crumbled when he saw just how pathetic Bunny looked. “Bunny Boy,” He softly said as he walked into the bathroom. He sat down on the floor beside Bunny. “why didn't you just admit you were sick?” Jasper picked up the toilet paper roll, pulled some squares off, and handed them to Bunny.
“Dunno.” Bunny took the squares and wiped his mouth. “Didn't want to be a bother.” He rose up on his knees and heaved into the toilet again.
“A bother?” Jasper gently asked. “You would be no such thing.” He started to rub Bunny's back. “I'm going to take care of you. Tell me what you want.”
Bunny moved away from the toilet and Jasper so that he could sit back on the floor. “Promise.”
Jasper sweetly smiled. “Yes. Anything you need–”
“No.” Bunny very lightly shook his head. “You promise you'll take care of me?”
“Absolutely.” Jasper moved close to Bunny and started to rub his back once more. “Do you want me to make you some ginger tea?” Jasper started to get up from the floor.
Bunny barely shook his head. He reached out to grab a hold of Jasper's arm. “Right now, all I really want you to do is just sit with me.” When Jasper sat back down, Bunny let go of him. “Just keep me company.” He swallowed with a grimace. “I'm probably going to throw up again, I can feel it.”
Jasper could only nod his head. “Well, if that happens, I'll be right here.” Bunny moved to rest his head on Jasper's chest. “Should we go to the bed where you'd be much more comfortable?”
“I don't know if I'd make it.”
“Alright. One moment.” Jasper moved Bunny away from him. He then stood up. “I'll be right back.” Jasper left the bathroom.
Bunny rested his head on the toilet. It wasn't exactly comfortable or something he even wanted to do, he was just too exhausted to care. He closed his eyes to rest them only for a moment. They snapped back open when he heard the toilet flush. Above him stood Jasper with a soft smile. Bunny noticed a couple pillows under Jasper's left arm. As well as a blanket–the one from the bed–on the floor.
“Here.” Jasper handed Bunny his pillow. “We'll just camp out in the bathroom until you're feeling well enough to make it back to bed.” He covered up Bunny with the blanket before he sat down on the floor and leaned up against the wall opposite of the toilet. Bunny instantly moved to place the pillow on Jasper's legs and lie down upon it. Jasper waited until Bunny stopped moving. “Comfy?”
“As much as I can be considering how I feel.” Bunny groused. A hum of contentment came from him when he felt Jasper card his fingers through his hair. “Keep doing that.”
“I will until you tell me to stop.”
Bunny closed his eyes. “Will you sing to me?”
“You know I will. Do you have a song in mind?”
“You know what song.”
“Yeah, I do.” Jasper agreed with a soft smile. He took a quiet breath in. “Wise men say, only fools rush in, but I can't help falling in love with you.” Jasper began to sing “Can't Help Falling in Love”. It was one the first song that Bunny ever heard him sing. Since then, in a way, it became their song when Bunny was at a low point and needed that little reassurance.
“Thank you, Jasey Lovey.” Bunny whispered.
Jasper smiled down at Bunny. “Anytime, Bunny Boy.” He continued on to sing the song that brought Bunny comfort.
