Work Text:
Rain pattered against the sidewalks, running streams through the roads as it tapped on windows and knocked at doors. Cars slid past with muffled music, and houses softened with warm dinners. A peace had fallen over the neighborhood, a silent promise of a starry night filled with nothing but grandma's pie and old 2000s music.
If only 226w6 could share the sentiment.
The witch-hatted deer sighed as they filtered out the noises of Dolor and 11808 arguing, hands clenching the edge of the bench they sat on. C00lkidd, Pr3typriincess, and Bluudud were whispering and muttering to each other like always, pressed up close to each other. Exhaustion clung to them all, yet no one dared to try and sleep.
Around five weeks ago, 22 had practically begged 808 to help them find someone to take care of Pr3ty, a failed creation — an abomination — that they could bear to kill, not when it looked so childlike. But 22 knew better, it was not a child, and neither were the creatures 808 and Dolor had found. All three had to have been shapeshifters, no robloxian would look like them.
Still, 22's parental instincts went berserk near them, hence the need to ask for help. They hadn't expected 808 to reveal that she too had found a strange creature rummaging through her trash and that Dolor had come to her earlier that day with yet another one. When they agreed to travel until they found a suitable sacrifice to deal with the tiny monsters, none had realized how long that would take.
A shiver racked through 22's body, and they cringed at the feeling of water seeping past their pants. Biting back a groan of annoyance, they sighed once again and slid off the bench, barely throwing the three things a glance as they trudged their way over to the others.
The conflict died down as the sound of hoof steps got closer, fully cutting off when 22 cleared their throat, two glaring gazes dulling — even if just barely — and snapping to the deer. That was one thing 22 could respect them for — one of the only things they could respect their ex for, the attention the two gave them even when 22's already quiet voice went quieter. It only took one snap of their fingers for the two to turn all attention to them, no matter what they were doing.
I think I discarded this because I had no idea where to go with it
