Chapter Text
Marinette Dupain-Cheng have finished exiting the airplane that took her and her only child to Paris, France. The woman in her forties had her luggage with her, her long blue hair bangs hit her shoulders as she walks out of the airplane with her son named Maverick, who followed behind her with his stuff, knowing damn well that his mother seriously wants to stay back in New York City but she had to come to visit her parents and it will only be temporary, at least Maverick will get the chance to visit his grandparents. Maverick followed his mother inside the airport, saying as he catches up to his mother "Mom, wait up."
Marinette looked back at her only child, who looks a lot like his father, smiled as she slowed down "Sorry sweetie, you know how I can be sometimes on occasions like these." She apologized, Maverick nodded as he said "It's alright mom, just slow down and we'll find grandma and grandpa." Marinette nodded before the two made their way out of the airport and once the two were outside of the airport, Marinette looked around the area in a little bit of surprise. Man, it has been thirty years since she was last here, she misses New York City already, including her late husband, who passed away in a car accident last year before their son's 16th birthday and it was very devastating for the both of them.
"Wow, I haven't been here since I left more than ever before." Marinette told herself, her son heard what she said and reassured her "Mom... I understand what happened to you but don't worry, if you need to talk to me, I'll be here for you." Marinette looked at her son, smiling warmly at him as she said "That's my son. You're just like your father, understanding and very kind to everyone. I do miss your father so much." Maverick can understand that, he also misses his dad, the father who taught him how to play soccer and baseball, the father who cared about him, and the father who loved his mother so much until the day he passed away.
"I miss dad too," Maverick understands "I wish he was here... but at least he's with Aunt Selina now."
"Your aunt was very nice to me when I met her, she is the reason how I met your father actually. I told you the story already." Marinette stated, giggling at the end of her sentence.
"I know that mom." Maverick said, smiling at his mother "Should we get a cab or should we walk where grandma and grandpa are?"
Marinette just suggested "Let's walk to your grandparents' shop, they still live there." Maverick nodded, the two started heading to Marinette's parents' home where she grew up in.
It took some time to find the place before she and Maverick looked at the building in question, seeing that the business is still going surprisingly but whatever, she thought to herself without saying a word out loud. Marinette knocked on the door and her dad opened it.
When Marinette saw her father Tom Dupain, she was surprised to see him again, she had only voice called and leave him messages while she was away but now, he's old. Still alive and very healthy, she smiled as she waved her hand at her father, saying "Hi dad."
"My daughter!" Tom Dupain said in nostalgia, hugging her only daughter after not seeing her in person for thirty years, Marinette hugged her dad back and said "Nice to see you again dad." Maverick stared at the reunion of his mother and the grandfather that he finally got to meet for the first time in his life. Maverick smiled, loving the moment before someone else came in, it was his grandmother Sabine Cheng, who most of her hair are now gray with some highlights still in her original color, and he said to his grandmother "Hi grandma."
"Is this my grandson!?" Sabine asked in pure surprise but she was happy to see her grandson for the first time in her life, Tom let go of his daughter to give Marinette a chance to say to her mother "Yes. That's your grandson, Maverick."
Sabine hugged her daughter, saying with happiness all over her voice "I'm so happy to see you again! It has been 30 years since we last saw you! You're a grown woman now!" Marinette giggled, responding to her mom's happiness "Thanks mom. I'm glad to see you again."
The mother and daughter let go of the hug, with Sabine saying to her daughter and her only grandchild "Come on in. We have a lot of things to catch up with." The family walked inside the house to catch up on a few things.
