Work Text:

Samira loved the sun, and the sun loved her. However it was an enemy to
Jack's Irish ancestry and night shift tendencies.
It's why the moment they’d arrived at the beach she slathered sunscreen on him before she even let him think of unpacking the car. She used the good kind too, spf 100.
They had a rare 24 hours off and had decided to take advantage of the good weather.
The beach was the perfect escape.
Samira missed the warmth of the sun on her face and knew her and Jack needed the vitamin D. Both having worked nights and too many doubles as of late. It would be nice to lay in the sun's warmth and each other's presence away from their apartment.
Jack sets up their spot with efficiency— beach tent, towels, cooler and even a little table for snacks.
Jack was nothing if not prepared.
It was still early in the day, the beach empty but for the seagulls and the odd runner. But perhaps that was due to it being a random Monday. Either way the beach felt like their own for the time being.
Not too eager to get in the water yet, she looked to Jack who was adjusting his water proof prosthetic. Deft fingers making sure it's attached correctly.
Although she had already applied sunscreen the idea of Jack massaging more onto her back was too tempting. She found herself staring at his hands, those large, thick capable hands that she knew could be delicate when needed. She shivered at the idea of those calloused and sure hands all over her body.
“Jack sweetheart,” she called out to him. He turned with comical speed, one stray curl falling onto his forehead, somehow both endearing and hot. The salty sea air made his hair curlier, adding a fluff she wanted to run her fingers through.
His sunglasses obscured her view of his eyes but she could feel the intensity of his gaze on her face. Even after all these months she would still find her face heating at the intensity of his gaze on her.
In answer to his unspoken question she simply raised the bottle of sunscreen she had brought for herself, the kind that left her looking shimmery. Without a moment of hesitation he moved towards her, signalling for her to lay down on her stomach. Samira was already liking this.
She gasped when he started to undo her bikini top straps.
“We don't want any tan lines do we,” he said but she could hear the mischief in his voice as he undid the knot by her neck. She couldn’t help but giggle as he moved the straps and her hair away, fingers tracing her spine in reverence.
She took a deep breath and let out a satisfied sigh as she felt Jack's hands on her skin. He was thorough, lathering the sunscreen over her shoulders, down her back, dipping into her bottoms, claiming tan lines again. Even after he was done rubbing the sunscreen in he did not stop touching her. Like he couldn't stop touching her and she didn't want him to.
His hands moved to her thighs, working in more sunscreen, kneading the muscle expertly. It was deep and the right amount of pressure, and so good that Samira couldn’t hold in a moan. She hadn't even realized how sore she was until his capable hands were kneading out the knots and stiffness that resided in her bones at this point.
Jack was thorough. Hands moving to knead her cheeks, pulling her bikini bottoms up, putting her ass on display for him. She giggled when she felt him drop a kiss on each cheek. Teasingly taking a nip at her right one.
But he was also diligent. Moving back down her legs, massaging her calves and finally her feet. Giving her legs a proper massage. She groaned at the wonderful pleasure pain of his fingers digging into the muscles. She felt her body relaxing further into the sensations as he continued, the pleasure pain morphing into a soothing touch.
Samira must have fallen asleep because the next thing she recalled was the soft tickle of Jack's stubble nuzzling into her neck.
She hummed in pleasure, a small smile formed on her lips as he dropped a peck on her cheek and nose.
Something few people knew was how affectionate Jack was. He was always seeking her out. At first he had been hesitant, almost scared to touch her too often. It wasn’t until she noticed him reach for her and stop that she asked.
After that he could scarcely go a moment without a lingering touch, a kiss or simply cuddling up into her.
It was also then that Samira realized how much she missed being held. How much she loved knowing he was there, feeling the heat of his body or the weight of his hand on her waist. She discovered they both liked it when they were draped atop one another.
They stay curled into one another for a long moment. Just breathing each other in, the sound of the waves coccoing them. It was peaceful. Samira felt so content in the moment.
Samira thinks this might be her favorite thing, the wonderful musky scent that is all Jack and the comforting scent of the sea. As the world tried to lull them again, hoping to keep them in the moment forever.
However appealing, Samira made the choice to sit up and stretch, reaching for the fruit Jack had packed. The sun was getting higher and hotter in the sky, the beach still blissfully empty.
“We can’t just sleep,” she whined softly, popping a juicy grape between her teeth. Jack took in the pout on her lips and decided to drop a kiss, and steal the juice of the grape that had spilled down her chin.
“Okay,” was all Jack had to say as he stood, pulling her with him. She couldn’t help but laugh as they raced down to the shore’s edge.
Her shriek as she toed the icy water made him laugh, a full belly sound that warmed her heart in a way nothing else did.
“Come one, let's jump in.”
“Jump in! Jack it freezing,” Samira exhaled as a wave kissed her ankle.
He scoffed, playing it brave and all but running into an oncoming wave, disappearing beneath it.
His head pops out with a loud gasp and his chest as red as a cherry from the cold sea water.
“Holy shit that's cold,” he exclaimed, shaking his hair out with that ridiculous grin gracing his face.
“Told you,” Samira yelled at him as he trudged his way back to the shore.
Samira couldn't help but ogle, the droplets of water running down his toned chest and belly, catching on the graying hair made her bite her lip.
She was shamelessly checking him out. It's when he crouches slightly, eyes narrowing that Samira freezes, suddenly feeling like prey caught in the headlights of an oncoming car.
“No,” she yelled in warning, hand up as if that could stop him. She turned and ran squealing back to their things.
But even in the sand, wet and uphill, he managed to catch up to her with ease. He catches her in a bear hug, swinging her around as she tries to flinch away from his cold body, with no success.
They fall into a heap atop their towel, laughing and Samira pretending to want to get away as Jack rubs his cold wet body on her.
“Warm me up please, I think I got hypothermia,”Jack tells her, teeth chattering as she wraps a towel around his broad shoulders. She drops a kiss on his lips, tasting the salt when he tries to deepen it.
They spent the next hours just laying around, Samira reading her book club book while Jack lounged with his head on her lap as she read to him. They dosed and ate the fruit Jack cut before deciding to call it a day as they grew hungrier.
Wonderfully content and tired from a day in the sun, they order take out and make their way back home.
They take a nice shower to wash the sand away, lathering each other, not wanting to stop holding each other.
Later they sit on the couch, letting an old movie play, wrapped in each other's arms. They kiss slowly, no hurry, letting themselves fall into sleepy territory, content to just be with each other. They fall asleep tangled, limbs intertwined on their couch.
Samira can't remember a better day off in a while.
