Sion has a plan. Okay, it’s half of a plan. Okay fine, to be honest it’s just ⅓ of a plan. But he does have a goal. And that goal is none other than his best friend.
Tokuno Yushi, you will not escape this time!
It’s not like Sion tried doing it before, but he thought about it.
Sion has been planning this since last year. He calculated it, researched the best way to do this and he came to this conclusion very quickly: Valentine’s Day is the perfect day to confess his love.
Love? Yes, his love. It’s a love confession. Maybe you think that he’s being too serious about it. You only know this guy for the last six months and you’re saying you’re in love with him? Well, yes. Sion is a passionate person. He knows himself quite well, thank you. And he knows exactly what he’s feeling, what he’s doing.
Especially today. Because today is the big day.
It feels like even nature knows about his plans, because the sky is a perfect shade of blue and the sun is shining more than it did the entire week. It’s a beautiful day, the birds are singing, the flowers are blooming and Sion is feeling more confident than ever.
Until Jaehee opens his mouth.
“Ah, Sion-hyung, actually, I saw the weather forecast and it says that it’s going to rain this afternoon.”
This fucking nerd, Sion closes his eyes and let out a frustrated sigh.
“Jaehee”, Sion calls him gently.
“Yes, hyung?” Jaehee replies, looking at Sion with his adorable puppy eyes.
How can Sion say something to his friend when he’s blinking like a clueless puppy?
You know, fun fact: Sion is weak for cute things. And pretty people. Jaehee is a rare case of a handsome and extremely good person who acts like a cute puppy. He’s just trying to help, Sion tells himself. It’s not like denying a fact from nerd number one would make it less true. And his expression is too cute right now, Sion is not a monster.
Seeing Jaehee’s expression, Sion gives up on telling him to shut the fuck up and instead just says, “God, I really hope you’re wrong about this”.
Today is the confession day. Everything needs to be perfect. It cannot rain.
Sion looks up to the sky, then closes his eyes and clasps his hands together, interlacing his fingers in a gesture of supplication.
“God, if you’re listening, please, don’t let it rain when I’m talking to Yushi today”, Sion stays still for a few more seconds, then opens his eyes again, satisfied.
He doesn't believe in god, but just in case she exists, he will ask for this one favor. It’s not like he always does this. But Sakuya, his junior, always makes these dramatic requests to all the gods he knows and that kid is lucky as hell, so he might as well just give it a try. Whether it will work or not is another story.
When Sion turns to Jaehee again, there’s a little audience looking at him talking to himself. It’s Riku and Yushi with their arms intertwined, watching his little moment with god with twin curiosity.
Sion feels his cheeks get warm and he knows his face is all red right now. He may look like a clown now. In front of his crush. His nonchalant, extremely quiet crush that he doesn't know how to read from his expression right now.
Sion makes a little pause, looking at Yushi’s beautiful face. Under the sun, his scar is more prominent and it only makes him look cooler. Hot, his mind offers. Yes, hot. Yushi is the hottest man alive. Probably. Sion needs to stop himself from drooling.
Get it together, dude. It’s just Yushi. You talked to him yesterday about eating strawberries with condensed milk as a midnight snack. You saw him laugh so hard about one of Riku’s jokes that he choked on his water and splashed all of you a few days ago.Why are you so shy right now? Just because he saw you being silly? Yushi is already used to it.
Sion opens his mouth to explain why he is talking to the sky, still making eye contact with Yushi, but then Yushi shyly looks away from him with a small smile forming on his lips. And this is just not fair.
Sion’s ears are burning right now.
Cute! Yushi is so cute. He’s adorable. Sion wants to eat him. He clutches his chest, feigning pain, and squeezes his eyes shut.
Give me a break, pretty boy. Please. I have a plan for today. Stop trying to make me kiss you. We have a schedule! It’s not fair.
Okay. Maybe he should change the plan.
The plan is to wait until Yushi’s last class finishes at 3pm and take him on a walk towards home and stop at that new cat cafe that he knows Yushi wants to visit but is too shy to actually go on his own. Then he will lead them into a cute flirty conversation until he finds the perfect moment to give him a cat shaped chocolate he made by himself yesterday through that one catgirl tutorial on tiktok.
The chocolate is in his pocket. And for some reason Sion feels so aware of that, it’s like the pocket is burning. Maybe he should take a look at the chocolate again just to check if everything’s ok.
Maybe he should just take Yushi to the side of the building like a teenager and confess to him right there and give him that chocolate. Wait, that’s a good idea. Then he can ask Yushi out and they go to the cat cafe at the end of the day.
It’s perfect. But he needs to act. Right. Now. Yushi’s next class starts in 10 minutes, after this they will only see each other at 1pm for lunch.
Riku and Jaehee are aware of what day it is. He told them about all of this. Riku laughed at his face and said Sion should just pin him against a wall and make out with him, that would work just fine for a confession.
First of all, this is rude! So rude. How dare you, Riku. Yushi needs to be treated like the princess he is, not like a slut. He is not like Riku! Sion says this to Riku, who instead of getting angry about his comment just keeps laughing at him like he said the funniest joke of all time.
(Looking back, Sion should have understood the signs.)
Sion clears his throat to get the group's attention. To get Yushi’s attention. He doesn't care about Riku smirking or Jaehee’s heart eyes for that little devil.
Ugh. Their love is sickening. It’s like Jaehee cannot get enough of Riku, even though they share an apartment since December and see each other every day, afternoon and night, since they take the same classes as Biology majors and are interns at the same lab. Congratulations on your perfect life, you disgustingly in love couple.
Oh, look at me I am so in love with my boyfriend that the world bends at our will and everything works perfectly to keep us together at all times. Fuck off.
Okay, that’s a bit too much. Sorry, Jaehee and Riku. Sion is a good friend, he really is. He even helped those two get together and everything, okay? He’s just a little bitter about the fact that he and Yushi only see each other about 2 hours per day and that’s not enough Yushi. Sion needs more. He’s greedy, yes.
It’s just that yearning for months is not his style at all. When Sion has a crush, he will immediately start pursuing that person. But Yushi is just different. For the first time in his whole life, Sion cannot just do it like usually would. He will not just flirt, he needs Yushi to know he is serious, okay? It does not help the fact that Sion has a little bit of a reputation.
It’s not that he is a womanizer or something. It’s just that when he was a junior, he tried to go out with some people. About 2, 6 or maybe 10. In a short span of time. Like one week between each. Okay this is not making him look better, is it?
So what? Maybe he gave some reasons to have that reputation, but that was 2 years ago. He changed. He is a new man. Sion only had 4 dates in the last two years. And nothing else since he met Yushi six months ago and fell head over heels for him.
Sion is really in love, you need to trust him on this. He could write romantic poems for Yushi. Make a serenade. Anything. But for now, he just wants to confess his feelings and ask him out. So he ignores Riku and Jaehee being stupidly in love in front of him for no reason at all and approaches Yushi to tell him what he so desperately wants to say.
“Yushi… can we…”, Sion hesitates when those beautiful eyes fall upon him. He’s suddenly nervous again.
Yushi encourages him to continue with a nod of his head, and Sion feels his heart flutter. He’s so down bad for Yushi, even the slight movement of his head is enough to make Sion want to bash his head against a wall.
How can someone be so pretty? His beauty is unreal. Sion feels so lucky just by looking at him. Wow.
Focus, Sion. You need to focus on what really matters right now.
“Ushi, can we t-talk—” And everything is ruined when not only loud rumble of thunder echoes through the air, but as soon as Sion opens his mouth to keep talking, Yushi’s alarm starts ringing at full volume.

Who the fuck cares about Sion and his stupid crush, he should just kill himself right now.
Yushi gives Sion an apologetic look while he turns off the alarm the moment D.O finishes singing the first verse.
“Sorry, hyung. It’s my literature class. I really need to go now”, Yushi apologizes and starts leaving.
“It’s okay. We can talk during lunch!” Sion needs to say a little louder for Yushi to hear from across the entrance hall, but it is worth it, because Yushi turns around for a moment to give a big smile and a nod to him.
Sion lets himself fall against the wall, who is actually Jaehee holding him so he doesn't fall.
“That was pathetic”, Riku tells him. He is smiling again.
“Honey, please don’t say that, it’s cruel. Sion-hyung is already nervous about it.”
“Jaehee, if Yushi rejects me, can we run away together and leave that witch you call your fiancee behind?” Sion is serious about his proposal.
Let’s elope together, Jaehee, you’re the only one who understands me.
“I will be a good wife, I promise. Better than Riku.”
“No one can be better than Riku”, Jaehee properly responds.
Ugh. Too much love. Sion is suffocating. The same way Riku is now suffocating Jaehee with a million kisses on his whole face after what he said. Sion takes a step back to let the lovebirds do whatever that is.
No one even blinks an eye at that passionate demonstration of affection. This pair is already known for their shameless PDA. Sion is just one of their most frequent victims. It’s really sad to be around such a devoted couple when you’re single, yearning for one of your best friends and honestly just clueless about what to do to make Yushi see him like a potential partner.
Please, I have so much to offer. I’m a blond man that happens to be hot. That’s rare. Please pick me. Pick me. Yushi. Tokuno Yushi. Ushi, pick me.
“Stop thinking so much, I already told you the perfect way to confess. You have nothing to worry about, hyung!” Riku sounds sincere, but his smile is amused. And he is looking at Sion as if he is a stray kitten who fell into a sewer and is cute, but seriously stinky.
“I don’t know…”, Sion replies, biting the inside of his cheek. “He doesn’t look very interested in me, does he? That’s why I kept stalling.”
Riku is right, he is being pathetic, insisting on trying to pursue Yushi when he is clearly not interested in him. Maybe Sion should just jump off the nearest cliff or something.
Riku rolls his eyes and playfully punches Sion in the arm. It hurts. Riku doesn't know how to control his strength. He may look delicate and cute, but he is very strong and Sion caresses the spot where Riku hit him, giving him a look that could kill. But he doesn't say or try anything, because honestly he doesn't want to get beaten up by Riku's overprotective boyfriend on Valentine's Day. He only stares the wall and asks for patience to any power that might be listening to his thoughts.
“You know that’s not true. Yushi-chan lets you hug him when you are all sweaty after dance practice. If I tried that trick, he would punch me. That’s true love, Sion-hyung.”
As much as Sion loves to disagree with Riku, he can’t. Not about this. Yushi is very serious about his boundaries and he doesn't like that much physical contact, unless he is the one initiating it. But he always lets Sion hug him like a bear and he even smiles when it happens.
Maybe Riku has a point. Sion turns to Jaehee, he tries to ask it without saying out loud, just communicating with his expressions. And Jaehee understands. Or maybe it’s just that Riku pinches him at the same time.
“Ouch”, Jaehee reacts to the pinch by caressing his own arm, but he is seriously whipped and does not complain about anything Riku does. He just starts talking like nothing happened, “Riku is right, hyung. Yushi treats you differently from the rest of us. And he has known Riku since they were kids, so it’s something to do with you specifically.”
Sion ponders, maybe they are right. Two people are saying the same thing. It’s not something he made up in his head then. Right? He needs to know more.
“Different… how?”
“Are you serious now?” Riku gives him the most insane side-eye of history. “Yushi let you feed him even though he hates being babied. Trust me, he hates that. I tried multiple times because of how cute he is. But he lets you do it. And don’t forget about the time where you two slept while hugging at our couch during our movie night. Have you ever seen Yushi hug anyone else to sleep?”
That’s a lot of situations. Sion can’t deny that Yushi treats him differently. But does this really mean he likes Sion?
“It’s just that he trusts me a lot. I am his hyung, you know.” It’s Sion’s weak reply.
“Sion, I am his hyung and I have known him since he was 10.” Riku looks like he is losing his patience. “Just please kiss him the moment he leaves the classroom, before I get annoyed and decide to take matters into my own hands.”
And then he leaves, probably going to his own class with Jaehee in tow, following him like a puppy.
Sion is feeling crazy right now.
The beautiful day he had woken up to is now crumbling. The blue sky is grey and there’s rain-laden clouds everywhere. It’s winding like crazy and he is left alone to his own thoughts because Yushi is in class for the next hour and a half and Jaehee and Riku have two consecutive classes now.
The cat chocolate is still inside his pocket and he puts his hand in his pocket to look at it. It's still okay. Cute. It doesn’t even look like something he made because it’s adorable and he is just so clumsy.
Sion puts it back inside his pocket.
This cute cat shaped chocolate filled him with determination.
Lunch break. That is going to be the perfect time to confess.
When they start eating together without Jaehee or Riku, Sion will use all his charms on Yushi. Then, as soon as they finish eating, Sion will mention how it’s Valentine’s Day and offer the cat chocolate as dessert. Yushi will eat it and say how good it tastes and fall in love with Sion right away.
It’s really perfect. This new plan will work. Because after Yushi falls in love with Sion’s cooking skills, Sion will have a way to bait him into accepting going on a date with him. A dinner at his house.
Wow, Sion, you’re so smart and sexy and good at cooking.
Imagine when Yushi arrives at your house and you’re wearing an apron that says "kiss the cook". He won’t resist. Yushi will read that and kiss him. On the mouth.
Wow. This plan is really the best one yet. Sion can’t believe he didn’t think of it before.
“Kiss the cook, haha.” Sion is smirking and talking to himself now. He may not look very sane, but it’s okay love makes you crazy.
Alright.
“What are you talking about, unc?” A curious tone on a deep voice that Sion recognizes even before turning to the person saying it.
It’s Fujinaga Sakuya. The new student from the Department of Dance. Very young and mischievous. He is always glued to Ryo's hip. Hirose Ryo, who is Sion’s pupil. Kind of. He just follows Sion around and keeps asking things to him. Sakuya usually is there too, so Sion is used to his presence.
“Nothing. Don’t worry about it.”
“Yeah?” Sakuya raises an eyebrow and gives a smile that can only be described as diabolical. “But I heard you saying Yushi-hyung’s name. And something about kissing him on the lips?”
Sion freezes.
This is a nightmare, right?
All Sion wanted was to confess his feelings for Yushi today, take him on a date and maybe even kiss a little bit.
How is he in this situation now?
Sakuya honestly doesn't like him. He actually said this before in front of all their dancing group. And he is a very mischievous person. Despite Ryo being from another department, they are always making pranks together and making life hell for the entire school community.
So Sakuya knowing about his crush Yushi is not ideal.
And he is still waiting for his reply.
“Um… I think you heard it wrong, really. That’s not what I was saying”, Sion replies with a supplicating voice.
“Are you sure? You know I usually wouldn’t offer this, but Yushi is my favorite hyung and I think that for some reason he likes you. So, what about me and Ryo here” Ryo waves from behind Sakuya. “Help you get together with Yushi-hyung?"
