Chapter Text
Amanises finally killed the last remaining remnant of the outer gods, making the last echoing chitter dissappear amongst to the endless expanse of the cosmos.
"Finally the last one" a murmur echoed from her mouth, the first actual word she uttered in a long time amongst the endless fighting.
"Finally. . . damn, this makes me want to go to a hotpot to celebrate" Roselle laughed, "Seriously how did we all survive?"
"You can thank Klein for that" Amanises shook her head smiling as she did so. She looked around the battlefield. Many angels and gods were finally allowed to collect themselves. And she could see followers of Steam packing up their machines, a few Amons picking up dead clones to recycle, and her own group looking for any injured in their ranks.
She moved to check up on Klein's group, as newcomers to the scene she still felt a little worry for the start up church. They didn't have nearly as much resources that her church had
She walked, well as much as one can walk in the astral plane anyway. Her long cloak dragged behind her, and the star embroidered dress made movements that somewhat suggested the owner was walking.
"Wait!" She turned to see Roselle running after her "You are going there to check up on Xiao Zhou right? I'll go too. We can then crash at his house and get him to cook and bring out some historical projections and celebrate like the old days"
This made Amanises laugh a bit. Klein would probably balk at that and refuse until he's bribed with money. Maybe she should get her church to donate some to his. . . but that's for later.
"Adam, are you joining?" She said aloud to no one, it's not polite to not invite him too.
"I can make it work" both gods blinked and Adam was beside them, joining their leisurely pace.
Amanises scanned the area she last saw Klein's followers gathering and picked out a few tiny dots in the distance frantically running around. Were they injured? All three shared a look and nodded.
And just a few seconds later they were already at the scene.
"Is everything alright?" Amanises said in a hurry and she saw a brown haired girl, the Magician if she recalled correctly teleporting around. The woman stopped at her question and looked up at her with that same terrified expression she had the last five times Amanises had seen her. She turned to the goddess awkwardly.
"Ye- Yes mad- no- Yes your high- Yes! Everything is alright. No casualties. It's just that we can't find Mr.Fool . . ."
"He is. . . ?" Amanises quickly called Klein's honorific name and sighed in relief when she got a response. He probably hasn't fallen then. The Magician continued after she saw Amanises's response.
"Yes, Mr.Fool shouldn't have fallen yet nor is he probably near falling. We confirned that several times. We think he's fallen unconscious" Amanises nodded
"When was the last time you saw him?" She stayed quiet for a moment, thinking.
"A few days ago. One of his tentacles blocked an attack for the injured group I was leading back. But he looked fine then! well at least his tentacle" Amanises nodded.
"Adam, get your son here." The man looked at her and nodded in understanding.
"I see, using beyonder convergence will make searching for him much easier. Amon, come here" A young, black haired man wearing a monocle appeared beside them, causing the Magician to go a bit pale and retreat a bit.
"So Mr.Fool has dissappeared?" Amon was smiling, curiously tilting his head "How interesting!"
Amanises frowned at that but let the two lead them in a direction. They passed by corpses of outer gods and their followers, some seeming to have died of old age, some blown up, some turned into puppets while others just looked to be simply crushed to death.
They were all frozen at the time of death as if decay and rot did not exist for them. As they continued to walk they saw a big empty space left behind and in the middle was Klein.
The old days trio couldn't help but laugh when they saw him. They were really worried for nothing. The man was sleeping there in the middle of all the corpses he left behind as if nothing in the world mattered.
"It seems like he got tired and fell asleep on the spot when the battle ended " Amanises commented as she left a small blessing of a good dream on to her cat like friend.
"So should we drag him back into his castle or. . " Roselle scratched his head. Amanises nodded, almost laughing so loud-
Then almost in a comical way a man they had never seen before simply ran past them, picked up Klein and kept running. Wait what? Everyone there, angels and even the gods just stood there at the sheer absurdity of the situation.
"Did that white haired man just kidnap Klein?" Amanises voiced her question out loud "Wait, that white haired man just kidnapped Klein!"
At her shout, very quickly everyone let out their mythical creature forms, giving chase. Amanises in her eight legged wolf form ran quickly after the man but the man surprisingly ran quite fast.
"What the fuck is that?" Roselle shouted as he struggled to follow behind.
"That's a foreign god. I have no idea why they would be here of all places" Adam answered in return. The followed the man closely, nipping at his heels. They almost caught him several times but the man would always use a little bit of power to barely escape.
Finally at the end of the universe, he jumped and disappeared. Out of the universe. Amanises frowned.
"Adam, you know about their kind? What was he? He had authority over death but it felt foreign. It's like he had full control but I could easily override it." Adam sighed
"I found out their existence in the third epoch. Since they were also on the side of humanity, I wanted to try and recruit their help in dealing with the outer gods" Adam explained to quench their curiosity. Roselle having registered the information, looked at Amanises weirdly.
"Why didn't you stop him?" Amanises frowned
"He was using an artifact containing the authority of space to move. Why didn't you do anything about it? Shouldn't you have twisted the rules?" Roselle raised his hands in defense and indignation.
"Look, I tried doing that but it felt like I was trying to use a computer but everything was in Greek and all the symbols were switched with random ass numbers okay?" Roselle looked at the barrier between universes.
"So does that mean the king of space and time got kidnapped to another universe? What do we do now?" they all shared a look.
"We rest for a bit and regroup? I don't think it's wise to run into enemy territory unprepared. " Roselle frowned at Amanises's words.
"But what about Xiao Zhou! We just can't wait aroun-"
"I am with Amanises. We should take a moment to think. Though. . ." Adam interjected "No matter how many people we gather, we'll always be outnumbered and outpowered. It's probably best if we take the stealth approach, quietly find Klein and escape"
---
Klein frowned as the sunlight hit him in the face and the damn bed remained much too firm under him.
"Auceses, get your fucking sun out of my face or I'll go and deliver rest of your characteristics to Adam" he muttered, rolling a bit in an attempt to find a pillow to bury his face in. He felt around a bit, only to be met with nothing.
Wait, wasn't he fighting outer gods? Klein jumped up, looking around to judge his surroundings.
He was no longer in the abstract battlefield near the barried but in a forest that seemed to stretch on endlessly.
"What the fuck?" Klein blinked a few times, did he accidentally fall into a forest? He attempted to jump back into sefirah castle, only to not feel the ascent he had gotten. used to. Realizing this, he checked on himself, he couldn't do anything!
His heart went thump thump thump, for the first time in a long while, actually showing physiological symptoms. He could still felt the mist under his skin and the authority as lord of the mysteries humming but the world did not yield to him.
He tried to steal the distance between him and home, open a doorway to the spirit realm, pulling a historical projection of someone he knew, nothing! He couldn't even access most of the powers not pertaining to godhood. Instinctually as someone who held authority over seals, he could feel a seal placed on his body but . . . he just could not twist and break out of it.
It felt much weaker, and logically he should have been able to destroy it. But nothing, everything he did just seemed to slide off. He tried to break it several times again, but this time something in him twisted and he couldn't help but puke to the side.
"Damn it" Klein decided to pronounce the honorific names of everyone he knew, whether they liked him or not that didn't matter. But he got no response, not even an automatic one.
Where the fuck was he to be like this? Klein got up, attempting to explore a bit since he couldn't do anything else, only to fall narrowly missing his own puke.
. . .
Klein was somewhat thankful that nobody he knew was here. He gotten used to just gliding around everywhere. He closed his eyes in shame, think about the humanity you're gaining Klein. Don't think too much about it.
Klein sighed, realizing that he probably had to get used to walking again.
