Work Text:

My Mission Impawsible Valentine!

It was just Adrien Agreste’s rotten luck. The blonde had only just realised his feelings for his bluenette roommate a month ago. They had been best friends since College, and shared an apartment from his eighteenth birthday, up until they were twenty-four! Well into their adulthood, friendship going strong, and now, she was leaving!

“But why?” Is all he could manage in his moment of surprise.

“Because we’re twenty-four, Adrien. Thats almost our mid-twenties. At some point we gotta just sign off the lease and move on with our lives. Like, uhhh…ripping off a bandaid!” She answers.

“I don’t understand.” He starts, eyebrows furrowed. “I thought you liked living with me?”

“I do!”

“Then why do you want to leave? Why sign off the lease when we live so comfortably now?” He asks, desperately.

Marinette’s expression is unreadable as she sits down across from him at the dining table, reaching out compassionately with one hand to grasp in her own.

“Adrien, I’ve loved spending my time here with you, okay? So don’t get me wrong, because these past few years have been amazing with you.“ She says, stroking her thumb atop his hand to calm his unease.

Then she continues, “But…lets be honest, we’re not kids anymore, and I want a future like a grown-up: a house, a partner, kids.”

Adrien loves the sight of the mental image. “Then have that with me!” His mind urges him to say. Against his better judgement, he chooses not to interrupt, as she continues her spiel.

“You know what I’m trying to say right? Like, we’ve achieved the dream jobs, the cars, our living situation is great, and we’ve learnt all the skills we’ve needed, but now its time to move into the other stuff: comfort. Stability. The domestic life. I can’t bring a potential husband here.” She informs him.

He nods along in understanding. He knew they were going to have to grow up and live out their adulthood properly at some point but he just wasn’t expecting her to leave his like this.

He’s stuck in his own thoughts before catching the last part of her rant,“-so I guess what I’m trying to say is-“

“I get it.” He interrupts finally.

“You do?” She breathes a sigh of relief.

“You want to have your own space…and, I can’t stop you from wanting that.” He says, solemnly.

Her eyebrows furrow in concern as she reaches up her other hand to place on his cheek where his stubble was, below his glasses.

“Adrien, whats wrong?” She asks softly.

“Nothing.” He says, dismissively, moving his face from her caress. She doesn’t look convinced but still, places her hands back down on the wooden table.

“Adrien, we’re always going to be friends. Nothing’s going to change once I leave, I promise.”

Please don’t promise that. His heart pleads internally. I want more than friendship!”

“-nd swear that I’ll visit you often. Besides, we still have the month left with each other.” She smiles.

He bites down his disappointment. He knew that he couldn’t be selfish and confess for her sake. If she wanted time to figure out her future then he’d have to allow her that. This wasn’t about him.

“Yep, sounds good.” Is all he manages out, with an all-too wide smile.

“Does it?”

“It does.” He lies.

“I couldn’t imagine anyone more deserving of a peaceful life than you, Marinette. You deserve someone whose gonna give you the world.” He admits truthfully.

Her smile drops for a second but she recovers quickly, responding, ”Thats very sweet of you Adrien.”

She stands from the chair, Adrien’s hand buzzing from missing the warmth of her hand atop his. “You know whats funny though? It’ll be Valentines day once I move out, maybe I can bring a date around my new house.” She adds teasingly, turning her head to look over her shoulder, biting her finger playfully with a wink.

His face burns red at the implication of her words. She giggles at his reaction.

“Joking~” She sings, heels clicking away as she enters her bedroom. He lets out a held breathe once her bedroom is closed behind her.

———————————————————————

“I’m in love with Marinette.” Adrien says aloud, holding a whiskey neat in his hands.

It was Kim’s birthday, and most of the boys had decided to take him out to the newest bar that had opened up.

Adrien’s sitting on a stool in neat, dressy clothes, listening to the terrible sound of…singing? Coming from the karaoke section. He could tell it was Nino and Kim’s drunk, loud voices, terrible as they were at singing, he really wasn’t one to judge, especially for a guy on his birthday.

He awaits patiently for a response from the other boys surrounding him at the bar.

“Yeah, we know.” Nath says first, from the stool beside him.

Adrien looks up at him, eyes wide.

“I’m sorry? What do you mean,’you know’? I only found out like a month ago!” He says, taking another mouthful of alcohol.

Marc lets out a chuckle from beside his red-head boyfriend. “Uh yeahh, and you’re probably the last one to find out about your own feelings. Made it pretty damn obvious in College. Sorry, Adrien.” He says with zero remorse, sipping his cocktail.

Adrien looks confused by his friends reactions and he turns to the other guy on his right asking, ”Max?”

“I was like sixty-seven percent certain that you two would’ve been together right now. We all made bets.” He says, half-listening as he’s fixing screws on Markov’s face.

Adrien slumps in his seat, hand roaming through his blond hair like it could calm his racing thoughts.

“You all knew before me.” He says aloud to noone in particular.

Marc chuckles, and Nath pats him on the back in comfort. “Yeah, you’re a little late to the party with this one.” He says, clinking his glass with Adrien’s and downing it.

“But still so very welcome. Its never too late to confess.” Marc advices him, swirling his straw in his own drink.

“I can’t. Didn’t you hear me say before that shes leaving the apartment?” Adrien asks again, slumping forward until his face slams into the flat wooden surface in front of him with a loud thud!

“Yeah, she told u-“

“WOOOH! That was fun!” Kim’s voice chimes in as he down’s Adrien’s drink at their arrival.

“Dude! You should totally come sing the next song with me!” His best friend yells loudly, placing a hand on the blonde’s shoulder. Adrien shakes off his grip, moaning, “Not right now, Nino…”

“Woahhh Buddy. Whats got you so down-in-the-dumps?” He asks, obliviously.

Not feeling like responding, Nathanael responds for him, ”Marinette’s signing off the lease in the shared apartment and Adrien has feelings for her.”

Nino lights up, tipsily, ”Ohhh! Good for you, bro!”

“No, not good, Nino! Really not good!” Adrien blows up at him, ordering another drink to ease his anxiety.

“Oh…kayyy. You need to chill out, Dude. Its not the end of the world-”

“I have a month to woo her!”

“Right! And you wiillll!” Nino drawls, watching Adrien down a few glasses of whiskey, way too fast to be healthy.

“You just gotta turn on the Adrien charm like you do for all the other girls.” He suggests, pointing to the group of ladies that were sitting at a table, watching the ex-model and giggling to each other from afar.

Adrien’s mood doesn’t change. “Marinette not ‘other girls’. Shes special.” He states, brushing Nino off.

“So what! She’s still had a crush on you before, hasn’t she?”

“She has?”

Everyone freezes. Nathan facepalms and Marc  grimaces at Nino for opening his mouth.

“…Well at least it wasn’t Ivan or Kim. I was about eighty percent sure it’d come from one of their mouths.” Max says from his side of the bar.

“Oh yeah, too bad Ivan couldn’t come. Wait. Marinette had a crush on Adrien?” Kim asks obliviously.

“I-! …fuck.” Nino sighs defeatedly, scratching his hair under his cap, nervously.

“Don’t tell Alya or she’ll kill me.” Nino pleads to his best friend.

It was only at that moment in the night where Adrien truly felt luck was on his side.

This. Changes. Everything.

———————————————————————

“Marinette, we’re going out.” Adrien claims confidently as she walks through the front door, just coming home from work.

“Well hello to you too?” She says, confused, removing her heels at the door from her work ensemble.

“I’ve made reservations at Le Cinq. We’re getting dinner, my treat.”

“Adrien, I’ve had a long day.”

“And how good would that day get if you had food at a 3 star Michelin restaurant!”

“An expensive restaurant.” She corrects, ripping off her business coat and throwing it to the floor.

Then she continues, “I don’t know how you got reservations so quickly and Its very sweet that you wanna do something nice for me before I leave Adrien, but this is too much.” She kisses his cheek in greeting as she walks past. His heart almost leaps out from his throat but he swallows back him excitement.

“Ah-aren’t you at least a bit curious though?” He asks, hopeful that she’ll change her answer. She turns around as her hand is on her bedroom doorknob.

“Come on, Mare. You’re always cooking dinner for the both of us, and we’re not going to be spending as much time together once you leave. So let me take you out for a change.” He suggests.

She ponders on his proposal for a beat. He waits.

Then she negotiates hesitantly, ”Only if I can find something to wear.”

Adrien practically glows from her answer.

“No need, just look whats waiting for you on your bed.

She opens the door to her room and on there laid a neatly folded dress. She held it up to see it in all its glory and she gasps at the design. It was a sparkly form-fitted dress with a slit on the left leg, a sweetheart neckline in baby pink. The material felt expensive between her fingertips.

“Adrien, where did you get this?”

“Do you like it?”

“Its beautiful, but, how?” She asks, holding it against her form in the mirror.

“My father owed me a favour. Plus it didn’t take much convincing when I brought you up.”

“Oh.” She blushes in embarrassment at that. She was always considered the teachers pet while interning at Gabriel, so much so, that he’d constantly praise her for her skill and suggest she marry into the family through his son. She’d politely refuse of course, but that did wonders for her ego and imagination as a girl of just seventeen years.

She’d missed Gabriel after going solo with her own business: MDC designs, but her popularity skyrocketed and they were real rivals in the fashion world. Gabriel himself, considered her a worthy threat. She never would’ve thought it’d be possible but it was.

“Marinette.” Adrien calls, bringing her attention from her thoughts, back to him.

“What are you waiting for?” He asks.

She practically skips over to wrap him in a tight hug, then she runs off to the bathroom to change. The grin on Adrien’s face doesn’t leave as he finds a suit from his own room to wear.

———————————————————————

“-So instead I took out the tulle, layered it, made ruffles from the shoulder to the bust—okay are you even listening to me?” She complains, dropping her hands on the table, defeatedly.

“…Yes. Ya-you were uh, talking about the dress you were making with the ruffles.” He responds to the dish in front of him, slicing the steak as a distraction, flustered.

“You could at least make eye-contact with me when I’m speaking to you so I know you’re listening.” She suggests.

“I can’t. You’re too distracting in that dress!” His mind practically screams, face glowing a hot red.

His eyes dart around the room nervously as she twirls the pasta in her own plate, taking a big bite from her fork.

“Mmmh! Its so good!” She praises.

“Worth it?” He asks, finally making eye-contact.

“Hell yeah!” She responds enthusiastically.

Adrien hesitates for a moment before suggesting, ”We should go out more.”

She looks up from her plate at his request.

“Just whilst you’re here, y’know? Might be nice.” He continues.

He watches her ponder on it for a moment, chewing her pasta before gulping it down and  responding, “You know what? Sure. Its been a while since we’ve gone out like this.”

“Lets make a deal to do it more then.” He suggests, lifting his glass of wine to clink to hers.

“Sure, if you feel like paying for everything. Be my guest.” She agrees, clinking her glass with his.

The conversation flowed naturally after that. They’d spent the night laughing, with talk of the past. School memories from their youth, career choices and future choices, weddings, children, all of which Adrien took careful note of for himself.

———————————————————————

Adrien had a problem. It had already been almost a full month of trying to woo Marinette, and nothing was working. Picnic dates, random shopping trips, nights out at the bar, trips to aquariums and zoos. Nothing was working and Valentines day was coming around, fast.

“I know Alya its just—yes! I know, you’ve told me like a million times.” Adrien catches Marinette complaining from her side of the phone conversation. He stops outside her half-opened bedroom door.

“He doesn’t like me like that!” She exclaims in her bedroom.

Adrien knows its wrong to eavesdrop, but he couldn’t seem to move from his spot at those words, feet planted behind her door.

“Are they talking about me?”

“Alya, you of all people know how much I love him, thats why I have to leave this apartment.”

“Hold on. Is she moving out so that she can live with the guy she loves?!” His heart drops to his stomach at the thought. Head racing with questions and insecurity whilst Marinette continues on, “Yeah, okay Alya, thats enough outta you—yes, I know you think we look cute together—right.” He hears her say.

“Alright, I’m leaving now. I love you too. Mwah!” She kisses at her phone before hanging up.

Adrien stumbles away from the door and back to his own room before she notices.

Valentines day was coming up, and Adrien had officially lost all hope.

———————————————————————

When Adrien had awoken, the first thing he noticed was the pounding in his head. There was a pain there that he had no recollection of having before falling aslee-hold on. When did he go to sleep?

He looked around the environment, expecting to see his own bedroom. So tell him why he was lying on Nino’s couch?

“Finally awake, Sleeping Beauty?” Nino announces from the kitchen, mug of coffee in his hands.

“Aughn…how did I…-? Did I walk here?” He groans.

Nino approaches him with Panadol tablets and a glass of water, he takes and swallows it down instantly.

“I’m surprised you don’t remember. Especially since you broke in, cried to us and then slept like a baby on our couch until five pm this afternoon.”

“Its five pm?! Ow.” He shoots up from the couch too fast, headache still making his ears  ring.

“Least concerning part of the story, Dude.”

“Sorry…” Adrien sighs, lying back down on the couch.

Nino makes himself a sandwich in the kitchen.

“What happened last night?” Adrien asks, looking down at the empty bottle of pinot noir lying on their carpet.

“Well…” Nino starts.

Hours earlier…

Knock knock knock!

“Ughnn...whoazz thah...” Alya groans, sleepily, rubbing her eyes as her and Nino wake up to a series of raps at the door.

Knockknockknockknockknockknockknock!

”Ughhnnnnnn!” She flops back down on the sheets annoyedly, placing the pillow over her head to block out the interruption to her sleep.

“I’ll get it, Babe. You go back to sleep.” He says tiredly, as he yawns then kisses her on the temple, rubbing her back soothingly. He leans over to the bedside table for his glasses, placing them on his face and squinting at the time on his alarm clock.

“What kind of crazy person, comes here at three in the morning?”

He opens the front door, disheveled and slouching in exhaustion.

“…You’ve got a lot of explaining to do, Dude.” He says to the intruder of sleep standing before him.

Adrien’s was equally as disheveled himself, face tear-stricken, glasses hanging dangerously from the front of his shirt, as he takes another swig from the bottle of wine in his hand. He pushes past his friend, flopping onto their sofa in the living room and Nino shakes his head, before shutting the door behind him.

“Alright, tell me what happened.” Nino sighs, joining him on the couch.

Adrien sniffs, broken-heartedly, head tossed up toward the ceiling, “She wha-uh..l-likes-!” He cries in choked sobs.

Nino moves in closer to pull him into a warm embrace.

“Its alright, bro.”

“Izz not! No itz nott..!” He chokes some more. Nino pats his back soothingly in consolation.

“Sunshine, I’m going to kill you.” Alya murmurs, stumbling down the stairs. Glasses askew on the bridge of her nose and hair tousled from sleep.

“Cut him some slack, Alya. Look at him.” Nino responds, with Adrien sniffling in his arms.

Alya ignores his words, groaning as she sits down, joining the two on the couch.

“You reek of alcohol.” She says.

“I couldn’t, sniff! go back toth apartmen..” He murmurs, words slurring and voice gravelly from crying.

“Why?” Alya questions.

Theres a long pause and Alya awaits on his answer patiently. Unfortunately, she gets none because instead, they hear soft snoring coming from him.

“You’ve got to be kidding.” She groans, fingers pinching the bride of her nose, annoyedly.

“Let him sleep it off. He’ll give us an explanation in the morning.” Nino says, gently dropping him onto the sofa and covering his body with a throw blanket.

“Damn right hes giving us an explanation! I did not wake up for him to throw a tantrum at three in the morning, then sleep in our house!”

“Shhh! Come on, lets just go back to bed.” He guides his wife with his hand planted on her back.

Present day…

“Oh…“

“Yeah, Alya was pissed.” Nino states, munching on his sandwich as the front door clicks open.

“Speak of the devil.” Nino addresses, standing to greet his wife at the front door.

“Welcome back, Beautiful. Finished work already?” He asks, giving her a quick peck on the mouth.

“Indeed I have, Handsome. Is the princess awake yet?”

“He is.”

“Good. ‘Cause he’s not leaving until he tells us what the hells going on.” She tilts past Nino to address the elephant in the room directly. Adrien guiltily scratches behind his neck and Nino and Alya join him on the couch.

“So?” Alya starts. Adrien head turns toward the floor to avoid their eyes.

“She likes someone else.” He admits.

“What?” Nino asks, confusedly.

“She’s leaving because she wants to be with the guy she really wants. I heard what she said to Alya. Thats probably why my drunk mind thought it’d be a good idea to come over so early in the morning, sorry guys..” Adrien apologises.

“I’m sorry, did I miss a chapter?” Alya asks, confused.

Adrien dismisses it mumbling under his breathe, ”I really thought I could win her over again, but I can’t.”

“I don’t understand...” Nino responds with a frown.

“Uh yeah, me neither.” Alya responds, confused without proper context.

“My dude, I really thought she liked you. I’m so sorry.”

“Yeah…”

“Um helloooo? Context please!” Alya demands, sassily.

Adrien turns to her then his eyes widen in recognition. “Alya!” He starts, sitting up straighter.

“Thats me.” She says, unsure of his next ask.

“She was on the phone to you! You can tell me who she was talking about!”

“Who?”

“The guy!”

“What are we talking about right now?!” She asks frustrated at being kept out of the loop.

“Marinette! Shes in love with someone else right? So you can just tell me who my competition is!”

“Competition?”

“Yes!”

“Wait. You’re actually in love with Marinette?”

“Yes!”

“He is.” Nino chimes in at the same time to feel included.

It takes all but two seconds before it clicks in Alya’s head like two pieces of a puzzle and she gasps loudly.

“Ho-ly shit. This is it.” She says finally, standing from the couch to make herself a much needed snack.

“Alya?” Adrien calls to her.

“Alright, this is what you’re gonna do Adrien. You’re gonna take Marinette out on Valentines Day, and you’re gonna tell her about all those feelings of yours-“

“I can’t.”

“Why not?”

“Because she likes someone else.”

Alya munches on the sandwich shes made, shaking her head muttering, “ohh, Sunshine, you oblivious little boy…”

“Haven’t you ever heard that honesty is the best policy?” She asks.

“It is a good plan. I mean, even if she likes someone else, you’ll at least know her honest feelings of you.” Nino adds again.

Adrien nods at the new directives but asks, “So what should I do? I swear I’ve already tried to woo her with every date under the sun. Nothings worked! And what are you supposed to give a woman thats: travelled the world, put on fashion shows and completed every one of her young girl fantasies?”

Alya and Nino turn to each other, both sharing the same telepathic thought.

“Well, there was this one thing she’s always wanted to do…” Alya trails.

Adrien perks up, interested.

———————————————————————

Valentines Day was officially here and Marinette felt a sense of dread wash over her as she watches all her stuff being hauled into a moving van.

The vehicle drives away from her old apartment and thats when it all felt so real. She was leaving. And Adrien—her longest lasting crush and best friend—wouldn’t be her roommate anymore. She was going to miss sharing a living space with him the most.

The day flew by in such a blur. She had packed and went to work, then she came back to her apartment one last time to say goodbye to Adrien, but he wasn’t there. Her heart sunk.

Maybe he had to work overtime today. Her brain tried to justify.

“Or he just didn’t care.Another part of her said.

She shook off the negative thoughts.

“No. Of course he cared, he wouldn’t have been taking me out all month if he didn’t.”

She doesn’t get to dwell on it any longer when she gets a notification from her phone with a loud ding!

She pulls it out of her pocket, showcasing the glowing screen with Adrien’s name on the text notification with the words ‘Sorry! work is keeping me a bit late, meet at your new place after??” He asks.

Marinette sighs a little disappointedly, grabbing her keys, her last suitcase, and walking out the front door of her apartment one last time.

———————————————————————

Adrien awaited anxiously in the living room of her new house—spare keys used, courtesy of Alya—dressed in a crisp navy-black suit with a blue tie that matched Marinette’s eyes, and holding a bouquet of flowers in shaky hands.

He had just sent the message and now he had to wait for her. It made him antsy.

“Mrroooww!” The nasally sounding black cat on the floor cries, looking up at his new owner.

“Shhh shh shhh.”

“Mrowwww!”

“Plagg! I literally just fed you.” He complains, to ball of fur rubbing comfortably against his ankles.

Plagg was a menace, but to be fair, the worker did warn him that he was a magnet for chaos and Adrien was the one that was adamant about choosing him since he seemed so clingy to Adrien.

“Wow. Usually he’s not so friendly with others. I was going to tell you to be careful with this guy because he’s a bit of a biter and a scratcher but it looks like he’s chosen you.” The worker, Wang Fu (which he knew from the name tag attached to his shirt) had informed him as he watched Plagg nuzzle harder into his palms.

“He’s a gorgeous cat. How long’s he been here?” Adrien asks.

“Two years. We’ve had plenty of people attempt to take him before but Plagg’s a relentless little guy. He’s not exactly easy to manage and he’s not really a people person.” The old worker tells him.

Adrien couldn’t see why that was such a problem—being anti-social. He had a beautiful shiny coat, green eyes that matched his and he seemed like such a sweetheart with a ton of energy.

“He’s tried escaping on more than one occasion. We love him but if he doesn’t learn to be nice to young children especially, he might have to be transferred to a different branch or be put down if necessary.”

It seemed unfair. How could they put him down for being a free spirit? Plagg circles his body, then allows Adrien to scratch under his chin. Thats when he knew he couldn’t leave him.

“…Could I take him?” Adrien asks.

Fu hesitates, “Are you sure? I thought you were here for the main-“

“I am, but I want to give this guy a loving home too.”

Click!

He freezes at the noise of the door swinging open, forcing him out of his thoughts.

———————————————————————

When Marinette had entered her new home, the last thing she was expecting to see was rose petals littering the hall from the door. Her heart was pounding in her chest as she followed the red floral trail towards the living room area.

There stood Adrien, dressed to the nines with a bouquet of flowers held towards her—in the middle of her living room furniture.

“What the…” she trails, stepping carefully around the room like she was living in a dream.

“You set up my furniture for me?” She asks in awe of the layout he had chosen. Taking her time to absorb every decoration and placement of furniture.

“I did. Skipped out on work just to set it all up. Do you like it-”

“Like it? Are you kidding me?! Adrien, I love it!” She exclaims looking around her new house in wonder.

“Did you really do all this for me?” She asks, her feet stop as they meet the carpet, and more surprisingly, the black bombay rolling on said carpet.

“Marinette, I-“

“You got a cat!” She gasps, crouching to the ground to scratch under the cat’s chin and coo at him affectionately. He accepts it willingly.

“He likes her. Green flaggg.”

“Uh, yeah. His name is Plagg. I thought I’d need a new companion, jus-just in case this went south...”

“He’s beautiful.” She compliments, dismissing Adrien as Plagg purrs under her fingertips.

She hears him sigh, then crouch beside her, sitting cross-legged as he watches Plagg play with her—bouquet still in his hands.

“I got him today from the rescue shelter a few streets down.”

“Luckyyy. There was this one cat I wanted from there a little while back. A white, fluffy Maine coon with blue eyes. Her name was Tikki.” She tells him with a smile.

“Maine coons are expensive.”

“Yeah, I know. I never got to adopt her. I never really had the time. Hell, she was a beautiful cat, shes probably not even up for grabs anymore that its been a couple months.” She admits.

Adrien places the forgotten flowers on the ground between them, scratching behind the back of his neck in a nervous tic.

“Marinette.”

“Yes?”

“What would you say if I told you I got you the cat.”

“what?”

She looks up at him, eyebrows furrowed in confusion. He only gestures towards the staircase that led up towards her bedroom. She hesitates, then breaks out into a grin, pulling him up by the arm to drag him along.

She was beautiful. Just the way she remembered seeing her. Except now she was napping on her bed calmly—the complete opposite of Adrien’s energetic cat.

Marinette’s heart melts, approaching the bed soundlessly, as she scratches Tikki between her ears. Tikki nuzzles into the touch, purring amongst her fingers. Marinette almost cries in joy.

“How did you know I wanted her?” She asks.

“Alya and Nino gave me the hint.”

Tears streak down her face and she chuckles in delight.

“I love her.” She states, then she turns to Adrien.

“I love you.” She emphasises, Adrien doesn’t even get to prepare a response before she latches onto him, lips moving over his chastely. Its over before he even has a chance to respond in kind.

“Marinette…” he starts, wrapping his arms around her in a more comfortable hug.

“Thank you for my Valentines gifts. You’ve always been the most amazing friend. Even when I selfishly wanted more from you…” She praises.

Adrien’s eyes widen at her confession. He pushes her form off of his to look her in the eyes as he asks desperately, “Wait. ‘More?’ Marinette are you in love with me too?”

Her eyes widen in surprise at his sudden confession. “‘Too?’” She highlights.

They freeze, then burst out into laughter.

“I am such an idiot.” Marinette admits.

“‘You?’ Marinette, I’m such an idiot that I thought you liked someone else and wanted to live with them!”

“What? No! I moved to get away from you, Dummy!”

“Get away from me?”

“Yes, because I knew that if I lived with you any longer, I wouldn’t have been able to keep my feelings hidden.”

“I don’t want you to keep your feelings hidden.”

“Well I know that now.” She responds calmly.

They both hold each other in their arms, hands coming up to cup each others cheeks softly.

“Adrien.”

“Yeah?”

“I know its a little fast but, how would you feel about moving in here with me?”

Adrien seizes the moment by peppering kissing to each of her temples, then her nose, a kiss to her left eyelid, on the corner of her mouth. He stops as he reaches her mouth directly.

“I’d love to, because I love you so much.” He breathes.

Marinette leans in, giving him a light peck to the lips again, this time Adrien chases after them as they pull back though. Short and sweet.

Its only when she gets a moment of breathe when she responds, “I love you too. I never wanted to be apart from you, trust me, I just—I never considered you ever liking me b-”

Her sentence is cut off by more lip-smacking, toe-curling kisses, that were sweet and languid—not fast or lust-filled. These kisses were a message to the both of them that there would be more to come. A promise of a new start. It was love at its purest.

They break apart when Adrien’s cat, Plagg, nuzzles into their legs, whining for more food. Adrien breaks apart with a groan and Marinette giggles in amusement.

“I could get used to this..” she whispers between puffs of breathe. She latches onto his tie, giving it a nice tug, pulling him closer so that they’re nose to nose.

“We have to catch up on a lot of lost time huh?” She asks, seductively.

Adrien grabs her other hand that was hanging near the nape of his neck. He brings up the back of it to his lips, giving her hand a small peck.

“Just say the word and I’ll ask you to marry me already.” He says with seriousness. “I’ll give you whatever you want.”

Marinette shakes her head in amusement. “Lets try actually dating first.” She giggles.

“Whatever you want.”
