It's hard for Liam to turn off the part of him that learned to constantly look over his shoulder. Maybe having as many terrible brothers as he does means that he'll always be more aware.
That's why he liked the woods growing up. Liam had managed to hold his own against the Stone Candy Mountains without brute strength, hiding and disappearing into the dusk to do so.
Now he sinks into the shadows of a castle, ready to draw a bow against enemies that aren't there. Too much silence sets his nerves on edge.
Silence used to be his solace.
