Work Text:
They were sitting on Brighton beach. It was the middle of the night, but neither of them wanted to go back to Lukey's flat.
Lukey always enjoyed the nights at the beach.
Pangi started to grow to like them. It was probably because of the company he had. As much as he wasn't a fan of staying up till midnight, he could do it as long as he had someone to talk to.
And Lukey was great for that.
They could talk for hours on end and just enjoy themselves. It felt truly amazing to have someone that just gets you.
“I am busy in the first half of July,” Lukey said. They were discussing the Brit’s industry work at the moment.
“Confirmed?” Pangi asked.
“Nothing is ever confirmed in that damn industry, Pangi. You should already know that after all the things I told you” Lukey whined and rolled his eyes, but Pangi could hear him laughing just a moment later.
“Okay, I’ll just stop asking questions,” Pangi responded. There's nothing bad about a bit of teasing.
“No, it’s okay I forgive you” they both bursted out into laughter.
Pangi looked at his friend and realised how close they truly were. There was almost no space between them, arms touching and breath mixing with one another type of way. They had a whole beach for themselves and still decided to stay as close as possible. People who watched them for a distance could’ve mistaken them for a couple.
A couple.
Pangi didn't really mind that thought.
They talked about it. They talked about it a lot actually.
Pangi has asked Lukey many times if he can wait for him to figure out who he was and how he was feeling and Lukey has been waiting.
And they were so damn close Pangi couldn't help, but feel something. He pulled Lukey into a kiss which wasn't exactly hard, because of how close they were.
“And where did that come from?” Lukey asked with his stupid grin plastered on his face.
“Oh shut up” Pangi responded. Maybe he shouldn't have done that. What if things get awkward between them now? Pangi has to bear the consequences of his damn actions. Fuck.
Lukey seemed to notice the sudden change in tension between them because he placed his hand on Pangi’s shoulder.
“Are you okay?” He looked at his friend.
“Yeah… Sorry for the…” Pangi responded.
“You’re good, don’t worry,” Lukey said and then there was this weird silence between them.
“Do you need space?” Lukey asked. Pangi quickly replied with simple:
“No” and after a short minute of silence he asked:
“You don’t hate me now, right?” Lukey smiled weakly.
“No, I don’t hate me” Pangi looked at him like a lost dog.
“You promise?” the Dutchman regretted asking that question, he knows Lukey well en-
“I promise,” The Brit said and stopped Pangi’s train of thoughts. Because Lukey doesn't make promises. He explained it to all his friends, he just doesn't promise anyone anything, so whenever he actually does use that word it feels special. And it’s not the first time he promised Pangi something either.
Maybe the Dutchman should give it some more thought, but not now. Now he is drunk and pulling Lukey into another kiss. He probably should stop before he starts to feel guilty again, but he simply doesn't want to stop. They can talk about it tomorrow, once Pangi sobers up a little bit. For now he is gonna come back to kissing his friend.
