Work Text:
He learns her breathing before he learns her skin,
A trembling truth beneath his calm, reserved grin.
Years of silence loosen, fall away,
As if his heart has finally found words to say.
She knows his hesitance, the weight he bears,
The way his hands confess what his mouth dares.
For once, her smile isn’t sharp or light
It softens in the hush of shared night.
They meet not in hunger, but in trust,
In the fragile bravery of “us.”
Each touch a question, gentle and slow,
Each answer something they already know.
For him, it’s awe, so quiet it aches,
A warmth he never thought he’d take.
For her, it’s wonder, laced with fear,
To be held so plainly, so sincerely near.
When dawn arrives, it finds no shame,
No regret whispered in the flame.
Just two souls, altered, learning how
To carry love in the here and now.
