Golf

Summary:

Starsky invites Hutch to play golf. Older guys.

Work Text:

Starsky saw the sun peering in the window and grinned. It was a perfect day to persuade the Blintz out for a round of golf. He sent a text to his friend and headed to the shower.

When he finished dressing, he checked his phone and saw that Hutch had written: "That sounds like a great idea." He smiled - full sentence answer, no thumbs up emoji for Hutch.

He went and dug out his golf clubs from the hall cupboard, said goodbye to his wife and headed out. Hutch was waiting outside his house, golf clubs at the ready. He hefted them over to Starsky's car and put them in the trunk.

"Morning," Hutch said as he climbed in. "Is it me or are the clubs getting heavier?"

"Funnily enough, I thought the same thing!"

"Perfect day for our first game of the year. Glad you suggested it."

"You sound surprised. I'm full of great ideas!"

Hutch chuckled. "So? Usual stakes?"

"Yep, lunch is on the loser...so hope you brought your wallet."

"I left it at home. Remembering how the last two rounds went, I figured lunch was on you."

"Those were glitches in my otherwise perfect record. My turn to win today."

"Perfect record?...Oh how sad, your memory is getting faulty...had to happen at our age, I suppose."

"Nothing wrong with my memory, Blintz. Though I think there might be something wrong with yours!"

"I've still got perfect recall, Gordo! Ask me who won In February last year."

"Yeah, yeah, but who won in March?"

"Ah, that one I've wiped from my memory for some reason."

Starsky chuckled. They arrived at the course and pulled into the parking lot. As Hutch retrieved their golf bags from the trunk, Starsky went and collected a buggy for them. The two of them climbed on board and set off to the first tee, bantering back and forth all the way. The golf would be good fun but the banter was the best part of the day for both of them.
