Work Text:
Bdubs has been feeling a little down lately.
Sadly it's a little normal for him, he sometimes gets in these lows where he just feels off.
So here he is, sitting on his couch, wrapped up in a few blankets, knees pulled up to his chest, chin resting on them, watching his favorite tv show, trying to distract himself from the dull ache in his chest.
The glare hybrid had sent a text to his boyfriend, asking if he was free or not, but since he didn’t respond, Bdubs has just assumed the fox hybrid is too busy with a project to notice his communicator (which happens).
Bdubs wanted to ask one of his friends if they could hang out, or he could at least get a good long hug, but he’d rather not worry them with his current state.
He’s fine. It’s not like he’s suicidal, or a threat to himself, he’s just a little sad.
Bdubs takes a deep breath through his nose, then out, hugging his legs a little tighter, a cold wave of ache flowing through his body.
The glare hybrid hears his door creek open, then shut.
Light steps come down the hall, walking into the living room where Bdubs is.
The brunet looks over to his right just in time as someone sits down next to hims, “Hey Dubs.” Etho says, sinking into the couch next to the lump of blankets formerly known as Bdubs.
“Hey.” Bdubs says, tone low and sad, mirroring the aching feeling deep in his chest.
“Is it one of those days?” Etho asks, knowing what’s wrong with his boyfriend.
The top of the blanket lump moves as Bdubs nods his head slowly, croaking out weakly, a little strain in his voice like he is about to cry, “Yeah-” he says, voice breaking slightly at the end.
“Can I touch you?” Etho asks.
The blankets move again as Bdubs nods again.
Etho slowly peels back the three layers of blankets (two big comforters, and a big fluffy blanket Etho gave him), revealing the small hermit inside.
The fox hybrid slides under the blankets, slowly moving Bdubs legs down to the floor, taking his hand in his own, bringing them into his lap, slowly rubbing circles into the back of them.
The blankets fall back around them, Etho leaning on Bdubs, fox tail a warm presence behind Bdubs as Etho quietly holds Bdubs’ hands, the only sounds in the room being their breathing and the Bdubs’ favorite show playing on the tv in front of them.
Etho gently presses a kiss to Bdubs’ shoulder before laying his cheek on him there, closing his eyes, trying to just be a comforting presence, not really that good at things to say, or things to do for Bdubs to make him feel better, but good at just being there, loving him.
Bdubs leans his head on Etho’s, eyes on the tv, the cold, dull ache in his chest, soothed a little, not quite seeming to radiate the same lonely coldness it was, the warmth of someone beside him helping a little.
He’s really thankful for Etho right now.
