Chapter Text

A man dressed in a white jacket sat on a chair by a large desk, setting papers with a serious expression.
The room was empty with just the desk and the man working in silence.

The silence was broken by a light knock on the door and a female voice requesting to enter.
The man turned his head up towards the door.
“Come in”
He said with a tone like he had been waiting for a while.

A younger woman walked inside with a cold expression closing the door behind her.
They stopped to stare at each other for a while, neither of them saying anything.
The man sat in silence waiting for the other to say something.
“...”

“...”

“So? Did it succeed or is it another failure…”
The man stared straight at the woman waiting for an answer.

The woman sighed.
“We were able to start the project successfully but…”
She stopped to look outside the window in the room before continuing her speech's
“But now we have to leave it up to them…”
The man nodded in agreement.

The woman shook her head.
“Sir… is it really wise to put the fate of the entire world into the hands of children?”
The woman asked carefully not looking the man straight in the eyes.
“I mean it's all very risky for us but more for them”

“It was our only choice now its up to them”
The man said, looking at the papers he had on his desk.

“even if it means their lives will be lost in the process?”
The woman carefully turned her head back to the man.
She didn't want to hear the answer.

The man nodded.
“Yes…even if it means that”
“If i could i’d do it myself i would but its not that easy you know this”

“I understand I am sorry for questioning you”
The woman bowed her head down.

“It's okay”
The man nodded and turned his attention back to the woman in front of him.

“Hopefully they can work together and figure things out for all our sakes…”

….

A young male with dark gray hair and forest green eyes sat up on the bed yawning, he had been just woken up by his alarm screaming in his ear and it was an unpleasant reminder that summer break was over.

He looked around the familiar room while adjusting his eyes to the light.
He had weird dreams the whole night and it kept him awake for most of the night.

‘It's okay I'll survive this day without passing out’
He tried to lie to himself but was already feeling a bit dizzy.

He half fell and stumbled out of bed on the ground face first still half asleep.
‘ow’

“ASHER!”

Asher heard his mom call for him from downstairs.
“Coming!”
He yelled back, rubbing his nose while getting up from the ground.

After he somehow managed to locate both socks in his messy room.
The room wasn't that messy, there was just too much stuff in his room and no space for it all, also he had no plans on organizing he just kind of got lost and found his stuff somehow.
His mom always nagged about his lack of space but it wasn't that bad…right?
‘Yeah no my rooms fine’
He thinks while tripping over a pile of books on the ground since the shelf was full of even more stuff.
‘Yeah it's completely fine’
Asher thinks as he trips again.

He walked down stairs in one of his hoodies which he was already regretting wearing due to the weather he had checked earlier.
Maybe it wasn't hoodie season yet.

His mom was in the kitchen doing something.

“Oh honey-...”
His mom stopped to look at him for a second longer.
She laughed awkwardly.
“Dont you think you could wear something else on your first day?...”

He waved his head dismissively, smiling brightly.
“nah it's fine”

She sighed but didn't say anything, just turned back to cooking and the room was left in an awkward silence as neither of them spoke anything to each other.

Asher sat on the table and took an apple from the basket next to him.
He put the headphones on while listening to his favorite artist.

“…”

“Got any new good songs?”
His mom tried to make a conversation with him.

“Huh?”
Asher lifted his head up to look at his mom tilting his head to the side lowering the volume.
He was listening on full volume so hearing what had been said was impossible.

“...nevermind”
She turned back to her cooking.

Their relationship wasn't bad but it was just a bit awkward between them nowadays. Well it kind of always was even as a kid before dad died it was just kind of weird.
She always felt so distant and careless it wasn't like she hated him she just kind of didnt wanna take responsibility.
After his dad died she started trying to have a relationship with him. He went most of his life with a nonexistent relationship with his mom.
It's not easy to get used to new things so easily.

He checked the time on his phone, noticing it was starting to be pretty late soon.
“I’ll get going now!”
Asher jumped off from his seat.

“Wa- wait right now already?"
She looked at him surprised.

“don't wanna be late”
He said walking to the front door putting on his shoes.

“Uh, well have a good day!”
She said before Asher walked outside, closing the door behind him.

She sighed and shook her head.
“teenager’s…”

He pulled his headphones on his head again and started walking towards the school.

Walking on the side of the road in silence.
The sun shone brightly on the sky. It was one of those nicer days and in all honesty Asher was enjoying it even though it was pretty hot outside.
There also weren't any annoying flies bugging him and most people preferred taking the bus over walking so he didn't have to worry about random people seeing him tripping over air.

“ASHER!”
Speaking of annoying flies.

Asher turned towards the voice seeing a very hyper blond running his way with his arms in the air waving them around.
He wasn't gonna escape this one.

“Hello my dear friend!”
A boy his age draped an arm around his shoulders coming way too close up.
He didn't have a problem with personal space. The problem was this dude and his big ass ego that made him nauseous mad and hate life even more than he already did.

“Wanna go grab a snack, my treat!”
He said, smirking. His ego made Asher want to smash his face to the ground and then celebrate.
‘Why won't this asshole leave me alone for once?!’

“Evan how many times do i have to reject you no i dont wanna be friends no i dont wanna eat with you yes i hate you”
Asher had gotten better at controlling his anger but this piece of shit player with no concept of personal space just got his blood boiling.

“but-”
Evan tried to say something but was cut off by Asher.

“you left me alone when i was a kid and now that it's cool to keep in touch with your childhood friends you come crawling back”
He was tempted to push this brick under a car and call it an accident. He’d even fake cry at his funeral just to piss on Evan’s grave.

“It's not like that and you know that!”
Evan tried to defend himself.

“still no”

“Oh c’mon think of it you know this could be considered a date and-”
Before Evan could finish his sentence Asher had already taken off to the other side of the road dodging the cars.

“YOU!”

Asher didn't stay long enough to hear what he was yelling, most likely something about ungratefulness or a false explanation.
“Leave me alone!”
He yelled once he was sure nobody else was around and continued walking.

By the time he had arrived at school he was already tired of it and wanted to go back home and sleep the rest of the day.
If Asher could choose he’d stay home everyday, maybe show up a few times and then ditch again, but even if he was given the choice that one wouldn't be in them.

He walked into his classroom and arrived just 10 seconds before the bell rang.

It was the first class of the day and he was sitting in the back not paying attention to the lesson.

Thankfully there was none he knew in the class even then making friends would be hopeless.
What do you mean he was supposed to go talk to them?
He’d rather stay alone than go talk to random ass people.
He didnt wanna come off as Evan type to anyone who was like that was weird to him.

He’d rather have other people do the talking or not talk at all as long as they weren't a self-centered brick with no concept of the word no.

A kid ahead of him took a water bottle from his backpack. It was so hot that the teacher didn't mind even Asher had taken the hoodie off earlier because he was roasting inside it.
‘I need something to cool down with’

The rest of the class went fastly by, and before he could even move the bell rang and the other kids were leaving.

As he was walking down the halls, other people were chatting with their friends or playing around.
He didn't pay much attention to what was happening around him.
So he almost didn't catch Evan walking with his buddies towards him.
Thankfully Asher hasn't yet to be noticed by the blond.

Before he could see Asher he dashed towards the men's bathroom to hide in hitting his head on the wall.
“god why cant he leave me alone for one second god damnit!”

‘I need my summer break back like right now’

He signed walking over to the sink and turned it on.
Thankfully nobody else was there so he didn't have to explain why he had thrown himself inside the bathroom head first.

It was so hot he needed something to cool himself off.
He took a handful of cold water and splashed it on his face.

“i’ll get through this day”
He told himself half lying.

The second he raised his head from the sink he started to feel dizzy and had to hold on to the sink for support.
“Whats happening?”
he could feel himself falling back as everything went black.

“wh what the?”
When he finally opened his eyes he was underneath wooden blanks.
‘What, had the building collapsed?’
‘How did this happen? Why didn't he remember the building shaking?’

He looked around panicking, but thankfully he saw he wasn't that far from the top and could maybe climb up if he moved carefully.

‘Oh thank god no time to panic’
He let out a sigh of relief, but how had this happened in the first place?

He could hear movement around him.

“Is anyone there?!”
He asked loudly looking around the fallen pieces of the building.

“yeah underneath you there is!”
He could hear a female voice underneath him.

He looked down and saw a white haired girl with red eyes just a little bit further from him.

“i am also here!”
A male voice yelled out from the top.

“Where are we?!”
A panicked female voice yelled from somewhere.

“okay how many!”
The female underneath him yelled out.
“I am here and there's a dude also here!”
She yelled out while waiting for an answer.

“Uh me and a girl somewhere close by and another one just next to me but she isn't speaking!”
The male voice yelled out

“could she be mute?!”
Asher yelled.

“oh right yeah i think!”
The male voice yelled out.

‘Dumbass’
He rolled his eyes.
The white haired girl saw but didn't say anything.

“I am also here!”
A cold male voice yelled from the above somewhere.

“Can y'all try to move closer to each other?!"
Asher yelled looking around.

“Why should we trust you? We don't even know you!”
One of the male voices yelled out.

“Got any better ideas asshole?!”
The white haired one yelled out.

“we are all gonna die”
The female voice rang in the ruins.

“Can you all quiet down!”
The cold male voice yelled.

“But we might die!”
The other male voice said.

“Shut up, shut up, SHUT UP!”
Asher was fed up, he just wanted to get out and go home now he was stuck under a fallen building with a bunch of confused and scared teenagers, himself included.
He took a long breath to calm himself down.

“All listen to me I can climb to the top if am i careful”
“While I do that, try to find a way up!”
He finally got the other people to quiet down and listen to him.

“Okay fine but be fast!”
The male voice yelled out.

As he carefully reached up over to the wooden blank up from him he could feel the whole place crumbling even more.
If he wasn't fast enough the whole place would come down on top of them and they all would die here.
‘Great just great’

He looked down to the girl beneath him.
“Hey you! Can you climb up after me?”

“Well i kind of messed up my leg but i’ll be fine”
She said reaching up to climb higher.
She had a stick piercing her right foot but it didn't seem to bother her that much.
Though it seemed to be pretty deep.
Sometimes he didn't understand other people.
Okay a lot of times but that was besides the point.

As both of them got higher he could feel the nervousness of the others.
It was making him uneasy.

He and the girl got up over time and he helped to pull her up to the surface.
She flinched as she stepped on the ground.
He knew that it wasn't that ‘okay’ but stayed quiet.

He fell on his knees on the ground.
“Oh thank god no more dust and spider’s”

“Quit fooling around!”
The white haired girl said sitting down on the ground.
“Go help them!”

He got up and walked towards the fallen building.
“You okay?”
He turned towards the white haired girl.

“Yeah I am fine, no go help the other idiot!”
She grabbed the stick and pulled it out forcefully.
‘Disgusting’
He could never.

He didn't stay to see the end of it.
He ran over to the hole they had climbed out of.

“We got out!”
He yelled out inside to the others hoping it wasn't too late.

“Thats great can you help us now”
The male voice yelled out.
“We are pretty much stuck here!”

“Yeah coming!”
He one by one went down to help the rest up to the surface.

The male that had been yelling had red hair and golden yellow eyes.
He looked relieved once he got out.
Thanking him repeatedly.

A girl with a nervous tone had mint green hair, purple eyes and glasses.
He started to calm down the second she was out.

The mute girl had silver hair and green eyes.
She seemed a bit emotionless but offered him a polite smile.
She sat next to the white haired girl offering to help her with her leg.

And the colder male had black hair and icy blue eyes.
He didn't say anything, just thanked him politely once he got out.
They all sat on the ground exhausted.

“So how did the school even come crashing down?”
Asher looked at the rest and they all looked like he was out of his mind.
“What?”
They all said at the same time.

“School I was at a mall…”
The red haired male said confused looking around at the others.

“...i was at my house still”
The black haired male said looking around confused.

The green haired girl who looked like she was on the verge of tears.
“I was at a river and now I am here. What is happening?!”
The red head patted her shoulder to calm her down even though he looked even more nervous.

“I was also at school…”
The white haired girl said.

How was this possible that they were all in a different place and then all appeared underneath a fallen building out of nowhere.
Neither did the building look anything like his school did.
Was this a prank who was pulling his leg?

They all looked at each other confused.

“Okay what the hell is happening here?!”
The red haired boy said standing up.

“...”
They all stayed quiet for a minute or two not saying anything.

“Okey lets calm down”
The white haired girl said, pointing to herself.
“My name's Gwendolyn nice to meet you all”
She nodded to the rest.
‘Smart move’

“Oh yeah sorry”
The red haired man said apologetically, calming down.
“I am Rylan”

The green haired girl calmed down a little bit.
“I am sophie”

Asher nodded.
“my name is Asher”

The mute girl wrote the words on the ground’Evelyn’

They all turned to look at the black haired boy.
“Ajax”

“So what now?”
Gwendolyn asked after a moment of silence.

“Donno wifi doesnt work not even the time is moving”
Asher waved his phone around. He had tried opening it before but there was no signal.

The people fell to another silence as they seemed to be lost in thought.

Asher couldn't think of anything.
This didn't make sense. Was this just a dream or more like a nightmare?
He looked around it was a ruined city with a spooky vibe to it.
He felt uneasy and he wasn't the only one, the other people seemed to be also as nervous as he was.

There was something really wrong with this whole situation.
And he didn't like it one bit.

He heard a crack behind them and they all turned to look to where the noise had come from.
“Uh guys”
Sophie whispered quietly.

Gwendolyn slowly got up from the ground.
Trying not to fall over.

And the rest stared forward ready to bolt if something threatening came out.

Slowly from the shadows emerged a monstrous looking figure.

It was like a floating dark void but its legs were ripped off as it bleed black ink to the ground.
Its teeth were huge and sharp like they could bite a head off no problem and it was at least 3
Three times bigger than any of them were.

“Uhh guys what in the world is that?!”
Gwendolyn was able to say before the creature lunged at them with its jaws open.

‘Okay this is gonna be fun…’
Asher prepared himself to run away.
