Summary
Will has been a slave before he even had a chance to finish school. He is doing his best surviving the life of torture and abuse, justifying his masters cruelties, and finding the small pleasures whenever he can. Everything to keep his mind intact, which proves to be a bigger challenge, as his enhanced empathy makes it hard for him to ignore the swarm of people's emotions around him. During one of his master's yearly parties he feels the emptiness in the constant noise of feelings floating through the space, someone whose mind he can't feel, like the man doesn't have any feelings at all. It terrifies him, and it draws him all the same.
