Work Text:

“Hey! Come in,” Gorgug rushed to open the door, letting Zelda in as quickly as he could.

“Sorry I’m tracking the snow in,” Zelda ducked into her hoodie as she tried to clean off her hooves from the wet snow. Her hoodie was covered in snow as well, just looking a little soggy and wet all together.

“Don’t worry about it, let me get you a towel,” Gorgug ducked into a side room with the fresh towels and grabbed the fluffiest and biggest one, one of his. Dark green with gear pattern on it, something he chose a few years ago and was his favourite. He didn’t let the fact warm his cheeks as he handed the towel to Zelda who had stripped her hoodie, left in a shirt with short sleeves.

“Uh- where can I-?” She held up her wet hoodie, and Gorgug motioned for one of the heaters near the door to throw it on there.

“Don't worry, Dad made sure that one doesn’t burst into flames anymore,”

Zelda shook her head fondly and put the hoodie on the heater, drying off her hair and arms into the towel that joined the hoodie right after. She tentatively stepped further into the tree. She had been over a few times already, but maybe not when-

“Are your parents home?” Zelda ducked her gaze away when their eyes met, and Gorgug could feel his cheeks warming up.

“Uh, not for a few hours; that’s fine, right?” Gorgug tried to catch Zelda’s gaze, wringing his hands, unsure what to do with them. She nodded, moving the hair that covered her eye behind her ear, and looked up at him with a smile.

“It’s fine, lead the way?” She tilted her head, and Gorgug was sure he was going to have heart palpitations because she looked so cute right now. Zelda rarely took off her hoodie, a thing Gorgug and she shared. But she looked nice in the shirt; it was white with flowers all over it in a small pattern. Very cute.

“Yeah, uhm- your shirt is nice; it’s cute- uh you look cute.” He settled on the last part, his hand flapping in the air when he tried to extend it to Zelda to lead the way, but also the height difference on the stairs might make it weird, and-

Zelda grabbed his hand, squeezing it slightly, and laughed. “Thank you, this way?” She moved to the stairs, and Gorgug nodded. Right. Right.

"Yeah." He breathed out and calmed down. Zelda has been over; she knows where his room is. They were just hanging out; Gorgug had to chill.

It was easier to do so when they were in his room. Gorgug looked around, hoping that he didn’t leave any of his mess around. He had spent the better part of the morning tidying up, with his mom reminding him every fifteen minutes to clean up. She never actually looked at what he was up to, simply walking past his room as she was gathering something for their trip to wherever Gorgug hadn’t actually been listening yesterday. He was secretly texting Zelda under the table. He was sure his parents knew anyway, but they said nothing, so surely it was fine.

They knew she was coming over, so it was all fine.

“Oh, these are pretty,” Zelda said, coming up to his desk that had a small vase with tin flowers in it.

“Thanks,” Gorgug reached for one and gave it to Zelda; he hoped it’s the one that had the best paint work. He had spent the better part of his last weekend painting those for no reason, which was mostly dumping the stem and flower into paint and trying to fix the air pockets with a brush. But he had big hands, and there was only so much he could do when there was winter outside.

“Thank you, it’s pretty.” She smiled, leaning over to give a kiss on Gorgug’s cheek. He blushed but pressed one back on hers. Gorgug always enjoyed the slight tingle of his lips right after.

Zelda shivered, goosebumps breaking out over her arms.

“Are you cold?” Gorgug looked at her and the heater in his room; it wasn’t turned on max because he ran hot and would overheat with it running in his room.

“Should I get the heater to run on max? The tree gets cold during the winter, so mom and dad got the heaters in every room, sometimes two. I don’t put mine on the highest though, so it’s not as warm here as in the rest of the tree.” Gorgug looked back at Zelda, who was watching him with a smile on her face.

“I mean- can I just borrow your hoodie? I’d be fine with mine, but it was wet.”

“Oh yeah, sure, you know where the closet is,” Gorgug smiled at her as she nodded and walked over to the closet, pulling it open. It wouldn’t be the first time Zelda wore his clothes; she would often grab his hoodie in the morning whenever he’d stay over for the night. Gorgug always grumbled about it because then he had nothing to wear, until he found out he could fit into Zelda's hoodies. They were a bit tight on them, but Zelda seemed to not mind much if he stretched them out, so there was that.

Gorgug lay down on the floor, watching Zelda look through his stuff, looking at the hoodies he had. Mostly the same brand and color, but she grabbed the one he wore the most and slipped it on, accidentally knocking something off the shelf. She sighed while picking it up, and Gorgug panicked.

“Hey wait-”

“Oh my god, you have the winter sweaters!” Zelda grabbed the piece of clothing that had fallen out and unfolded it. It was one of those ‘ugly’ winter sweaters his dad got for the whole family every year for the Moonar Yulenear. It had a goofy snowman pattern on it, but holding up a hand with thumbs up and a quirky line in the middle, Gorgug already forgot what it said.

“Oh gods, that one, yeah, Dad loves them for some reason.” Gorgug didn’t mind wearing them in the privacy of the tree, for the sake of his dad. But as endearing as it was, he didn’t want to be seen at school with those on, for sure.

“Do you have more?” Zelda asked but didn’t wait for an answer, digging through his closet once more. Gorgug groaned on the ground when Zelda let out a triumphant noise.

“You have to try them on to show me!” Zelda turned around with a stack of sweaters in her hands. There were many, enough to nearly cover her whole head, but she still strode over by his side and set them on top of Gorgug’s chest. He huffed as the weight settled and Zelda looked over at the stack at him, her cheeks flushed with excitement.

“Please?” She asked, a bit quieter. Gorgug looked at her, clad in his hoodie. It was his favorite because it was a size bigger than his usual ones, and on Zelda it was more than oversize. The hood could accompany her horns, and the sleeves were well over her hands. In short, she was very cute, and Gorgug couldn’t say no to her. At all.

“Fine, but no pictures,” Gorgug huffed, pushing the stack to the ground, and pulled his hoodie off.

“Are you warm now though?” He questioned as he picked out one of the sweaters, a red one with green bows all over it. What’s with the color scheme being all wrong? He would never get it. Plus, it clashed with his skin color incredibly.

He pulled it over his head, his hair flying all over once he popped his head from the collar. Zelda giggled, and Gorgug heard a very distinct shutter of a camera going off.

“Hey!” He fought with the sleeves, trying to reach for Zelda’s crystal, but she danced out of the way and settled on his bed to watch him.

“Just this one, because you’re so cute. I need a new lockscreen,”

Gorgug ignored the heat rushing all over his face and finally got his arms into the sleeves properly. He adjusted the sweater, sweeping hair out of his face, and looked at Zelda.

“So?” He knew he looked ridiculous, but Zelda was giggling and swinging her legs in happiness looking at him so he couldn’t complain too much.

“Next one!” She pointed to the pile of the sweaters, and Gorgug sighed. He hadn’t expected to be at the mercy of his girlfriend and her need to see him in all of his winter sweaters when waking up today, but it was nice.

He tried on sweater after sweater, posing for Zelda for her to snag a picture with each other. He had relented on the pictures once she had come over and leaned into his side for a picture. It had turned out nice, the two of them. Gorgug hadn’t realized he was looking at her with such fondness, so he decided to let it slide. Instead of kissing her the next time, she leaned in for a picture. It had turned out sweet, Zelda’s eyes wide as Gorgug held her cheek gently.

“Send me that one,” he whispered once Zelda turned to look at him. She nodded, kissing him in turn, and then pulled away. Gorgug sighed, slumping against her side, unafraid to topple her over. She might be small, but she was mighty.

“Last one?” Zelda nudged his side, pulling a sweater from the pile. It was a light green one with darker checkered squares, honestly the rare one he liked quite a lot. It was a gift from his mom a year or two back, something to keep him cozy but out of his usual hoodies. His parents never said anything about him sticking to those for the most part but still got him other clothes if he wanted anything more ‘fancy’ or so his mom said. He wore it only once when going to a local show.

He pulled it on, adjusting it so it sat nicely on his frame, and smiled at Zelda.

“I like this one,” he whispered, and she nodded, pushing her crystal away and simply leaned into his side. He wrapped an arm around her shoulders and sighed.

“Sorry for making you do this.” Zelda grabbed his other arm and played with his fingers and hand. Sliding her smaller hand over his larger palm, lightly running over the few scars he had from adventuring and those few times he helped his parents around in the workshop. A few weeks back, Zelda had actually sat him down, asking him about the scars, interested in the story behind every little nick. Gorgug had always avoided looking at his palms for fear of the cut from the leaf in orc heaven being there, but Zelda unknowingly helped him get over that, mostly.

“It’s fine, was pretty fun,” Gorgug nuzzled her hair, careful of her horns and pulled her down on the ground. Zelda turned and cuddled against his side, her fingers landing on the checkers of his sweater, drawing around and along the pattern. Gorgug laughed every once in a while when she brushed against his side and over his belly, ticklish even through the layers.

“Thank you for inviting me over, Gorgug,” Zelda sat up, tucking her hair behind her ear and looked at him, still drowning in his hoodie. Gorgug sat up with her, smiling a very toothy grin that he hoped showcased everything he was feeling right now, all the warm and fuzzy feelings in his stomach because of her.

“You can come by any time-” Gorgug didn’t finish before Zelda tackled him for a hug. He leaned back with one of his hands, Zelda settling nearly on his lap and burying her head under his chin, her horns poking his cheek only a little.

“Woah, hey!” He laughed, wrapping his other arm around her to keep her close.

“What’s this?” He whispered, leaning forward to wrap his other arm around her. Zelda shrugged in his hold, simply squeezing him tighter.

“You’re really cool,” she whispered and placed a gentle kiss on his neck. Gorgug shivered and rubbed her back.

“You’re really cool too; I’m glad to have spent time with you.” The day wasn’t over still, and his parents would be away for a little while longer. And if they went outside for a little while and got into a big snowball fight that left them soaked head to toe. Rushing back in and huddling around a heater with hot chocolate and blankets all over them. No one had to know but them. But for now, Gorgug squeezed Zelda and placed a kiss on her head. His lips tingled, and he looked at the painted tin flower back on the desk and wondered if every snowy day could be as gentle and sweet as this one.
