"The Child of Two Clans."

Summary:

Their first child had been completely unplanned, but they wanted it nonetheless. Kiba and Hinata Inuzuka have been married for a year, eight months, two weeks, and four days, not that they were counting.

Not only that, but they are expecting their first child with a little under a month left before the delivery following a young Hinata as she navigates career decisions, marriage, pregnancy, and the Hyuuga clan.

(Hello, everyone I'm bad at descriptions, but I thought it'd be fun to write about this pair and how life was for them at the beginning of their marriage before and after Sekiro was born.)

(Highly recommend you read the other parts before reading this one for context if you're new! Anyway, have a blessed one!)

Notes:

Hello again I still have more to write for them, and I'm so happy to everyone, who has been reading and following this series as it is an underrated pairing that I love!! :D

However, I completely understand if you aren't into this story because it is an underrated pairing or because of the themes in the story!

Warnings! Future/Past fic @-@, worrying, pregnancy, labor pains, contractions, mild bleeding, overthinking, fear of giving birth, fade to black delivery, family issues, complicated relationships, scenting, animalistic tendencies, dog-like qualities, biting, licking, concern, anxiety, time skips, overprotectiveness, and fear.

For this one, I did a bit of googling and stuff to make sure that this is an accurate portrayal of labor/childbirth!

Italics - thoughts.

Pet peeve warning! Pov will tend to flip-flop between characters!

Sekiro's name means one-armed wolf.

Hoshi's name means star.

Sumire's name means violet flower.

(I had no idea there was a Sumire in Boruto, so I was shocked that I had named an oc after a canon character ;-;)

Anyway, thank you so much for reading! Have a blessed one!! :D

Work Text:

The warmth of the blanket draped around her shoulders brought a sense of comfort as she sat on the floor of the living room folding little outfits that she had been gifted during her baby shower.

She held up a small pair of booties and giggled. Too cute! Hinata set them aside and brought a hand down to rest on her perfectly rounded abdomen.

"I wonder if you'll look like your Papa?" .A smile came to her pinky lips at the thought of their little boy looking like a carbon copy of her husband as she massaged her bump in rhythmic circles trying to encourage her son to make his presence known.

Meanwhile, Kiba busied himself in the kitchen behind her putting together a healthy nutritional snack for his wife who was eight months pregnant with their first child. "This kid's gonna be quite the mystery Hina, not only are Inuzuka genes dominant, so are the Hyuuga."

He voiced his opinion from across the cabin which Hinata quietly nodded to before making herself busy with the piles of onesies next to her.

Life was full of nothing but domestic bliss for the young married couple. They were having their first baby, and Kiba was receiving decently ranked missions. Her sister, in-laws, and friends helped in any way possible when her husband was away.

There wasn't a thing in Hinata's life that she would want to change right now.

The sound of Kiba's footsteps had her turn, albeit sluggishly, around to face him while she was sitting on the floor. Her owlish eyes met with his narrowed pair before traveling to the plate he held.

A snicker came from the young Inuzuka man as he came to kneel next to Hinata for her snatch the assortment of snacks he'd put together. "He's definitely got the stomach of an Inuzuka."

Hinata's only focus was entirely on stuffing herself. She definitely had an insatiable appetite as she found she could eat at all hours of the day, she could be in a dead sleep and wake up in want of something to satisfy her hunger.

"Indeed, I'll have to make larger meals when he grows up." .Her little boy wasn't even here yet, but she adored him so much. Kiba shifted from his spot next to her to sit behind her to have her rest against him while he could hold her.

The sun-kissed man pressed a kiss to the side of her head, while his arms wrapped around her midriff, he leaned down and nuzzled his way to the crook of her neck. "I can't grasp the fact we're having a puppy."

A breathy chuckle came from him as he placed another peck to her this time to her throat, Kiba smiled and began to scent her. This habit had become a daily thing ever since they found out she was pregnant.

Kiba seemed to always be scenting, touching, or marking her in some way as if her wedding band or rounded belly wasn't proof enough she was his. Hinata didn't mind, she enjoyed the open affection, it was something she always desired as the Hyuuga weren't the warmest of people.

She savored his gentle touches that made her feel genuine joy. I always heard of women worrying about their husband's losing interest while they were pregnant, but I don't think I've ever felt that way with Kiba.

Although Kiba had never allowed her to start overthinking whether he desired her or not. It seemed to be an Inuzuka thing as she saw other couples through the years act in similar fashions.

Not having the same genetic make-up as her husband, some things were hard for Hinata to understand even after knowing him for over a decade. I get the whole wanting his scent on me, but the biting is a bit confusing.

The byakugan princess flushed as she thought of the times she had to wear turtle necks for nearly a week from how much Kiba had marked up her fair skin, or the time he had accidentally broken through the skin on her shoulder.

His sensitive nose and senses picked up on the nervous energy coming from her causing a whimper to escape him before he rutched more against where her scent glands would be if she were an Inuzuka.

"What are you thinking about so hard?" .Kiba's instincts at the moment and for the past eight months had been fully dedicated to Hinata and her needs. Any little complication for her had him on edge.

She squeaked in response as her fingers fiddled with the pastel yellow onesie in her grasp. "I- I was ju- just thinking of h- how different our clans show affection!"

Hinata wasn't being entirely untruthful, but she hadn't mentioned how giddy his actions made her. Meanwhile, her husband lifted his face, so he could peer into her lavender gaze.

"I'd say it's a mystery how the Hyuuga clan ever came to be so populated, given how sterile the place feels." .She gaped at her husband's crude joke which he laughed at before bumping his forehead against her's. "It doesn't matter how different our clans are we just have to make sure our kids know we love them and each other."

How does he do that!? He could be teasing one minute and romantic the next! The dark-haired woman gave a closed eye grin and tucked her head under his chin to which he began to purr.

//

A long inhale came from the small woman as she put the last stack of baby clothes in the drawer in front of her, she looked around at the walls. I should paint them.

The nursery was a soft mossy green color, it wasn't too bright, flashy, or distracting, but it also wasn't dull and boring, and it gave a background for her to paint little forests, rivers, and meadows on three of the four walls as a large window taller than herself was on the fourth.

Kiba was currently gone for a day-long mission leaving her with her mother-in-law staying with her. Speaking of Tsume, the feral woman lifted an eyebrow at the former Hyuuga, who carried art supplies to the baby's room.

She could hear the older woman's footsteps through the hallway and pause in the doorway, the young mother-to-be spun around to look at Tsume. "I'm not straining myself, promise."

Hinata went back to her work as she dipped the edges of her fan brush in the yellow ochre before dragging the bristles to make what appeared to be curved lines to Tsume, however, she soon realized it was a sunflower as her daughter-in-law added detail.

The Inuzuka matriarch simply watched closely as Hinata added life to the walls of the nursery adding flowers, trees, a river, the sun on the left side of the basinet, and the moon on the right, and in the middle, which was her grandson's name. Sekiro Inuzuka.

"Why did you and Kiba choose the name Sekiro?" .She inquired seeing as the translation of the name was one-armed wolf. Quite the interesting choice.

Hinata smiled at her mother-in-law as she finished the small white puppy that looked awfully similar to Akamaru when he had been a pup. "Well I wanted the baby to have a name that aligned with your clan, and then I thought of how dogs are descended from wolves, so Sekiro just seemed right."

The Hyuuga clan usually centered on naming children after the sky, moon, sun, stars, and times of day, and the Inuzuka had more of a nature motif that she wanted to pass to her firstborn.

Taking a step back Hinata admired her work. Her son's room was definitely lively, and she hoped he would like the art as he grew up.

"It's a strong name, Sekiro." .The mother and daughter-in-law dou grinned at each other with a sweetness and anticipation for the newest addition to their family.

//

About a week had passed since then with Hinata entering her final month of pregnancy. To say she was exhausted, sore, hormonal, and sick was an understatement to say the least.

At the moment all she could feel was the wave of nausea wrack through her body as her stomach twisted in knots. She waddled her way to the nearest restroom as she was currently out in the village market with Akamaru, Shino, and Kiba.

Her husband attempted to follow after her and she swore that if he had ears they'd be flat against his head, and his tail would be between his legs. It's cute, but I can't allow him to deal with this.

She spent a good five minutes getting herself back together, she hadn't dealt with much morning sickness in the beginning or middle of her pregnancy, but now she had it nearly any time she smelt something that didn't agree with her son.

When Hinata had came out of the crowded restroom area, Kiba rushed up to her stopping right in front of her, and taking her small hands within his calloused ones. "How are you feeling, princess? Are you sure you want to stay out?"

He peered closely to examine her features checking for any illness that remained, his narrowed gaze caught the dark circles under her eyes from fatigue giving her a raccoon appearance.

"I'm feeling okay, and I promised to see Hanabi." .Hinata couldn't miss out on a nowadays rare opportunity to spend time with her baby sister, who was the new heiress to the Hyuuga clan.

A nod came from her husband of nearly two years, but the concern he felt never wavered. Kiba kept the expecting woman close with his arm draped across her shoulders with her side pressed against his.

Shino and Akamaru walked a pace ahead of them, but held conversation with the young married couple. "In a month from now you two will be parents, it doesn't feel real."

He commented to his two oldest allies and team, Akamaru barked in agreement as he began to match his pace to his companion's. Kiba chuckled in response. "Imagine how I feel becoming a father, it's a lot, and the only thing I want is to do better than my sire."

Kiba's father hadn't been in the picture much after he had left Tsume, the last time he saw him would probably be his wedding which he hadn't even invited the old man too.

Hinata reached her hand up to take his that hung over her shoulder to give a squeeze. "I know you'll be a great father, Kiba, and I kind of understand how you feel, it's devastating for me that my mother won't be here to see her grandchild."

They both had a missing parent whether it was by choice or circumstance, and now they were able to make sure their children wouldn't have to deal with such heartache. We'll do our very best for our little Sekiro.

Her lips quirked at the corners at her husband as she felt him press a kiss against her temple. They were both anticipating the fast-approaching day when they could hold their son, and along with that parental excitement came concerns.

The walk to the Hyuuga compound was slow to put it nicely as Hinata stopped for multiple breaks to catch her breath, regain energy, or when her back and swollen ankles protested loud enough.

She would be glad to get rid of all the extra weight packed on from her pregnancy, but a part of her would miss having Sekiro with her despite how fatigued he made her.

I'll have to have Kiba lift my stomach when we get home. Hinata giggled as she thought about how scared he got when she first asked him. Kiba had been, so worried he'd hurt her and the baby, but she got her way in the end much to her relief.

An internal celebration went off in her mind when the entrance to the Hyuuga clan came into view. I wonder if father will want to visit with me. The last time she saw him had would have been six going on seven months ago and things were then left rather tense on both ends.

Hiashi hadn't been exactly thrilled when she eventually announced her pregnancy to both the Hyuuga clan and the Inuzuka clan as he suggested they were moving too quickly. At the time they had just celebrated their first anniversary before they'd conceived Sekiro on the mission they had been assigned.

She hoped her father would be present for when she would have her son. They had never been close, but Hinata loved her father nonetheless.

"Hina!" .A soft voice met her ears, catching the byakugan princess's attention. Hanabi stood in the hallway, waving hyperactively with a grin, and then quickly walked forward.

The older Hyuuga woman untangled herself from the man next to her and met her little sister halfway. She took the brunette girl's hands and smiled. "It's good to see you, Hanabi."

Kiba, Shino, and Akamaru quietly stayed back as the Hyuuga sisters converse privately with each other. "Hello there, I'm your Auntie Hanabi!"

She couldn't help, but chuckle as the Hyuuga heiress spoke in a funny voice to her baby bump. "When you get here I'm going to baby sit you, spoil you, and eat your chubby little cheeks!"

Hanabi looked to her shaking older sister as her laughter filled the space, her eyes were closed as her shoulders shuddered. "I'm sure, he'll love all those things."

Eventually, Hanabi waved over the two men and ninken, who stood a few feet away to follow her and Hinata through the Hyuuga estate. The older Hyuuga recognized everything as nothing had seemed to change since she had moved out.

Hinata paused her teeth caught her bottom lip as she realized they were approaching their father's study. I hope he'll be happy to see me. She turned to look at Kiba, who placed a hand on her shoulder with a nod of encouragement. "I'm right here."

Taking a deep breath, Hinata followed after her young sister, who opened the entrance to their father's study. An anxious feeling fluttered in her chest as she stepped into the threshold where she would see Hiashi after months of silence.

Will father be angered with my presence? She ducked her head down to look at the worn woodened floors that had been engraved in her memory.

Hinata tried to force herself to make eye contact with the older Hyuuga, however the pang of hurt in her heart made any attempts impossible. I want him to be there to meet his grandson when he's born.

"Hinata." .The sound of her father's voice sent a jolt through her body. She stiffened and straightened her posture. Her hands naturally came to wrap around her vulnerable front and rest against her rounded abdomen.

For so long I tried to make father proud, but now I just want my family to be happy. Lavender eyes met with a familiar pair. The father and daughter stared at each for a long while taking in the definite changes.

Hiashi's gaze flickered briefly to her baby bump before back to her, he brought a hand up to his face to swipe over his mouth and then to prop his chin. "You have faired well I presume?"

Her eyes widened at the subtle gentleness that seemed to crack the stoic mask that her father had always worn. "Y- yes, father! I have been well, the baby and I are healthy."

The Hyuuga patriarch nodded his head, his eyes held a softness that left his daughters surprised before he stood up from the work desk he'd been sat behind. The two Hyuuga women remained at the front of the room as their father came around to them.

"We'll have tea in the garden." .He declared before sliding the door open and stepping out. The sister's shared a look, but held back any comments, and followed their father into the hall where her teammates were.

The sight of her husband waiting in the hallway had the nervous feeling dissipate. Father please be kind to him for me. She walked past the elder and came to stand before the Inuzuka man, taking his large hands into her own.

Kiba gave her a wide grin and stared down at her, gently massaging his thumb over the back of her knuckles. "Still feeling okay?"

Understanding the hidden double meaning behind it and nodded to the brunette in front of her. Hinata looked over her shoulder to her father, who stared at Kiba. His eyes are cold again. "Kiba, Shino, I ask that you join us in the garden."

However the way he addressed her teammates was light compared to how she thought he would've spoke to them. Kiba glanced to Hinata in shock and then back to his father-in-law. "Nice to see you coming around."

Hiashi narrowed his eyes at the informal way his son-in-law behaviored, but the smile on Hinata's face had him swallow whatever he was going to say to the Inuzuka man.

Eventually, one of the branch members lead the group to the Hyuuga gardens. Hinata looked around in awe of her mother's once treasured space. I miss coming here to feel close to you, mom.

She welcomed the warmth of what she adored to believe was her mother's comforting presence to enrapture her. Your garden always gave me, joy. Hinata gave a squeeze to Kiba's hand as she lead him around to admire the flora.

Right now are family is whole little one. The evening visit drew on with the small group speaking amongst each other. Although Hiashi was present, he rarely spoke only interjecting if to speak to Hinata or Hanabi.

Shino later excused himself about ten minutes before the rest of the party was finished, Hanabi gave her goodbyes to her sister and brother-in-law before running off to somewhere in the compound.

Now, Hiashi stood in front of the young couple and Akamaru, who'd decided to wait by the front gate for them. His gaze traveled back and forth from his daughter and son-in-law before settling on the bluenette. "I look forward to the birth of my grandson Sekiro."

A big smile found its way onto Hinata's lips as she beamed up at her father. She'd never seen him like this. "I promise to call you the moment we check in the hospital."

Kiba nodded with her statement and grinned at his up-tight father-in-law, who glanced over to meet the mischievous beastial man. The Hyuuga man studied the young Inuzuka, his eyes landed on the joined hands of Kiba and Hinata.

"Thank you for making my daughter happy." .He left no time for either to react as he walked away from the Inuzuka couple leaving them flabbergasted. Kiba stood with his jaw dropped as Hiashi's figure walked away and further into the Hyuuga compound.

Nice to know you like me after all, old man. The Inuzuka co-heir smiled, he looked down at his wife, who wore a stunned expression with wide opal eyes. All I've ever wanted is to make, Hinata, happy.

He let go of her hand, and wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her close to his side earning her attention. Kiba tilted his head at her with a cheery look as he leaned forward to press his lips against her forehead. "Well, I'd say this has been a good visit."

The former heiress nodded in agreement. He could smell and feel the relief radiate off of her, Kiba felt content knowing that she wasn't stressed about her father anymore. I hope it stays this way.

//

A tranquil breeze blew through the half-opened window of the couple's bedroom. The curtains danced in the moonlight as lavender eyes watched the rhythm intensely. I can't sleep.

It had all begun when Hinata awoke with an intense discomfort. She had slipped free from cuddling against her lover, and had tossed and turned in bed, but no matter how she adjusted herself the feeling she had along her lower abdomen and back left her unable to become at ease again.

I still have a few days before my due date. She didn't want to wake Kiba, he needed his rest and if she scared him with a false alarm, he'd never go back to sleep. He'll get worried and start fussing over me again.

Her fingers brushed against the hem of the duvet and pushed it back, she swept her legs to hang over the side of the bed as she came to sit up. Maybe, walking will help.

The young woman made her way to the large bay window a few feet away from her marital bed and reached forward to take her light robe that was draped across the window seat, she wrapped it around her sore form, fixing her long hair from out of the collar, and tying the sash.

A soft huff had her snap back around to look at her husband's silhouette. Kiba was still laid asleep, the blanket shuffled as he turned over. She stepped around the room in a silent fashion that she had been trained to perfect since childhood.

Hinata rested her palm on the front of her extended stomach, with the only she unlocked and opened the door to their bedroom to the long corridor in their log cabin home.

Toast sounds good. Or even better a grilled cheese! She carefully walked through the hall not wanting to hit any weaks spots that might creak and disturb the sleeping Inuzuka man.

The sound of the butter melting in the pan filled her ears acting as a momentarily distraction from the tenderness she felt throughout her body. Once, the bread and cheese had met her standards, she took a seat and began digging into her late night snack.

She kept one hand on her rounded front, caressing in a circular motion, the feeling of thumping against her palm brought a grin to her. "I'm glad you like it, Sekiro."

In a brief moment, she paused her chewing and brought a hand down to the edge of the table and held on for support. Hinata let out a heavy breath as a spasm rocked through her before fading out.

Nibbling at her bottom lip, the Hyuuga woman picked up her plate and discarded the small morsel left of her grilled cheese. "We have at least five days left."

She opened the cabinet next to the fridge and peered at the calender to mark down the days. We'll wait just a little longer to be sure. she marked the new possible due date with a question mark.

The minutes drew on with Hinata pacing back and forth in her kitchen, she'd filled a glass of water which she periodically sipped on. I don't want to wake Kiba, if it turns out to be nothing.

Her fingers fidgeted as she continued her fretful walking. Sekiro has shown nothing, but healthy reports for my entire pregnancy. What if something's wrong? Could something of been overlooked? While, her thoughts ran rampant with different possible scenarios of what could be wrong with her unborn child.

She suddenly felt another wave of cramping. Hinata faltered in her paces, she whimpered pitifully, and wrapped her arms around herself. That one lasted about eighty seconds. The first was sixty. Mentally, she began to time them. If I go through a fourth one then I'll wake, Kiba.

I'm thirty-nine weeks and six days along. Over the years, she had worked part-time at the hospital usually assisting Sakura. Hinata knew exactly how a healthy pregnancy, labor, delivery, and baby should be. Delivering a few days early isn't dangerous or concerning unless there's special circumstances.

Her fingers found the side of the granite countertop, she leaned against the surface, taking a deep breath as the dull sensation came again.

The indigo-haired woman shook her head and let out a long exhale. Ninety seconds. Her eyebrows furrowed in a state of uneasiness, she kept both hands firmly on top of her stomach.

Subconsciously, Hinata found herself walking back through the hallway with an urgency. Her lavender eyes blinked as she twisted the handle. The only thing she knew was that she needed Kiba.

Pushing the dark wooden door open, the expectant woman waddled over to the large mattress that her husband occupied. She reached a hand forward and placed it on his shoulder. I'm sorry for waking you, darling. She shook him til she was certain that he was in fact awake.

"W- what? What's wrong?" .His charcoal eyes blinked and fluttered before he rubbed a hand lazily over his face. Hinata smiled at his drozzy state. She sat on his side of the bed and leaned over her husband to face him. "I- it might b- be time."

Kiba tilted his head to the side with confusion at her words in a dog-like manner, he brought his hand up to scratch the top of his head. It seemed to click for him when he leaned back and slammed the back of his head as he jumped up and grabbed onto her shoulders. "Right now!? It's puppy time now!"

She gave an airy giggle with a definite nod of her head allowing her long tresses to sweep down her shoulder. Her reaction did nothing for Kiba's panic.

The bedraggled man shot out of bed and stood in front of his pregnant wife, who appeared composed, however her outward appearance didn't fool his senses. Your facade doesn't fool me in the slightest.

He could feel and smell the active anxiety spilling out of her, the discomfort she felt, but the thing that made his instincts bristle was the pain and agony. "Have you had any contractions?"

The Inuzuka man questioned as he searched around their bedroom, scavenging random things they would need from the closet, her hospital bag, towels, a duffel bag to put some of his clothes in, and then he would have get other things from the nursery.

"I've had three, there far a part, so you can relax a bit, Kiba." .She tried to coax Kiba into taking a break, but Hinata knew that once she told him there would be no getting through to him, his only thoughts were on her needs being met and ensuring that she and their son were safe.

A low growl echoed through the room, Hinata looked over to her husband, who seemed completely out of it. His narrowed black eyes seemed to dilate if that was even possible, while his clawed fingers failed in their attempt to get their belongings together.

Hinata pushed herself up from the bed and made her way over to the tanned man kneeled on the floor. Kiba turned his focus to his wife allowing a whine to escape him as he stared at her.

She moved her hands out of the way as he pressed his cheek against her swelled middle section. Hinata ran her fingers through his unkept hair. "It's okay, Kiba."

His only response was to bury closer against her with a snivel. Kiba couldn't even voice how excited, yet utterly terrified he currently was. She'll be in so much pain, she is right now, and I can't do anything about it.

The overwhelming sensation of taking in her feelings both emotional and physical along with his own was too much for him to bear. He knew this came with being an Inuzuka, he had known his entire life, the animalistic instincts he carried made him so much more than a primal beastman.

Ever since he was a pup, he could feel, sense, and know exactly what someone else was experiencing. The shared feeling part had an exclusivity as it mainly pertained to the Inuzuka clan, close friends, and his mate.

Kiba felt useless, his mate and pup were full of distress and he couldn't help them. "I'm scared for you and Sekiro."

He murmured against her belly that he nuzzled against and used to avoid eye contact with his wife, however he savored the gentle touch of her fingers combing through his brunette locks.

The opal-eyed woman paused her soothing motions before bending to the best of her abilities to bring her hand lower to cup the sun-kissed Inuzuka's cheek and lift his weepy gaze to meet hers. "Don't be scared for us, I know no matter what you'll keep us safe, my love."

She spoke above a whisper, her dainty fingers caressed the red fang tattoo on his cheek before wiping away the teariness in his unique feral eyes.

He nodded with a smile that allowed his fangs to poke through. Kiba pecked her clothed stomach before coming stand up, his hands found her shoulders and he leaned forward, capturing her in a slow kiss.

"I love you, Hinata." .The Hyuuga woman pulled him into an embrace, her head came to rest under his chin. "I love you too, Kiba."

After, a moment of seeking each other for comfort. The young parents-to-be found a moment of peace as Hinata helped bring their luggage to the living room of their cabin, not without a lot of fussing from Kiba and Akamaru, who had woken up and joined them.

However, the real fretting, hovering, overreacting, and protectiveness came when she experienced her fourth contraction of the night. It hadn't lasted long coming around seventy seconds, but her husband seemed to take every single second as an hour.

"We should leave right now. Hina, you should lay down, you don't need to strain yourself." .The former heiress sighed at the rare display of anxiety her husband showed compared to his usual unbothered confidence. Although, he does have a bit of an ego that gets bruised pretty easy.

She giggled remembering when they were younger and how competitive he was especially with Naruto. I wonder if he was competing for my attention back then. Well, we're on the same team, so that probably made it easier. I wonder if you'll meet the one in the academy if you end up attending.

Eventually, Kiba had gotten everything sorted with the assistance of Hinata and then Akamaru, once he had decided she had done enough.

Tsume and Hana joined them on their way to the hospital which they arrived to within possibly minutes. Hinata worked with the front desk as her mother-in-law and sister-in-law tried to get Kiba to get a grip, and Akamaru was sent to the Hyuuga district.

"You're going to end up having a heart attack by the time this pup gets here." .The Inuzuka matriarch had an impressed look to her as she guided her disarrayed son to one of the chairs in the lobby. Hana stayed with Hinata at reception as she checked herself in.

Kiba's eyes widened at his mother seeing her, Hinata, and Hana, so calm was jarring. "Could you blame me if I did!?"

She smirked at him and nodded as she quirked her head to side. He scoffed at her and leaned back in the chair he was sat in, he only began to calm down when he saw Hinata and Hana approach them along with a nurse.

"They have a room available for us." .However, Tsume and Hana couldn't prevent Kiba from latching onto his wife, who was in the very beginning of signs for labor.

Briefly, Hinata went through vitals the nurse had Kiba kept at a distance at one point after he had gotten in the way. Then, the Inuzuka clan members were brought to the private delivery room that was now assigned to Hinata. "Your doctor should be with you shortly."

The mother-to-be began to make herself comfortable in the hospital room, fluffing her pillows, and moving the blankets around. Currently, she hadn't felt any sharp pains that affected her mobility, so she was free to move around for now to the displeasure of her wayward husband.

Tsume handed her some of her personal items from home such as her own pillow, a nightgown, and a water bottle, the older woman knew all to well what childbirth was like and the joyful agony that came with it.

"How are you feeling right now?" .She asked, while helping her daughter-in-law get redressed into the lilac nightgown, she had packed. The younger woman smiled as she placed a hand on her stomach. "Good."

Hinata worked her leggings off that she had worn to bed. Tsume perked and sensed one thing before Hinata. Blood Then a strong sourness and fear permitted throughout the enclosed space as the opal-eyed woman stared down at her lap.

The first thing, Tsume immediately thought to do was snap, Hinata out of the daze she was in. She carefully touched the inexperienced woman's arm and gently led her to sit on the toilet seat. A soft shushing and whimpering came from her. "It's normal, your safe, Sekiro is safe, if you stress yourself out that won't be good for either of you right now."

Hinata's soft sobs filled the room. She was scared and she couldn't think rationally as the sight of crimson consumd her. A snapping sound had her look up to the feral woman in front of her. "Breath in and out. It's okay, I know it's scary the first time you see that, but by the second, you'll understand."

She sniffled, her shoulders sagged, and she leaned back into the comforting strokes that Tsume brushed against her back to soothe the young woman.

Once, The Inuzuka matriarch was sure her rather fragile daughter-in-law was calm, she helped slip the nightgown over her head, while Hinata did the rest of the work. Her tears had tried and her voice was even as she followed the older woman out of the bathroom.

However, the stench of distress and blood clung onto them especially Hinata. It almost gave her whip-lash from how fast Kiba had appeared in front of her. His arms drew her close as he shoved his face in the crook of her neck and began scenting his mate, while voicing his concerns. "Why do you smell like blood? What happened?"

She could tell he was trying to remain calm and collected, he didn't want to cause her any stress in the state she was currently in.

"We're okay, your mom said it's natural." .She brought a hand to his head and gently combed his impossible to keep well groomed hair.

Eventually, Tsunade came in with a clipboard and ushered Hinata back to the hospital bed, she had the pregnant woman prop her legs up on the stirrups, so she could examine her. "Depending on how dilated you are it might be show time."

Hinata nodded and brought her legs up, while her in-laws looked away and Kiba came to stand beside where her head rested. A hum came from the blonde woman and she stood up from her chair. "Your about two centimeters dilated, so we still might have a long night ahead us."

I can't believe in possibly a couple hours, I'll finally get to hold you. She stayed laid back in the bed and allowed a yawn to escape her. It was probably a smart idea to rest, while she could after all they still had a while before Sekiro would make his arrival.

//

For about two hours, Hinata slept soundly, and Kiba also had taken the time to rest on the couch, while Tsume and Hana greeted Hiashi and Hanabi, who quietly came into the room.

"How is she doing?" .The Hyuuga patriarch stared at his unconscious daughter, while his youngest went to sit next to Hana.

Tsume turned her focus to where her daughter-in-law laid, she smiled and crossed her arms before looking back to Hiashi. "She's doing great, she got a scare earlier, but I was there to reassure her that spotting can occur during labor."

Silence was the response from the Hyuuga elder, but Tsume could tell that Hiashi was worried about Hinata. His oldest was becoming a mother and her youngest a father.

Half an hour had passed since the Hyuuga leader and heiress's arrival when Hinata began to stir, her face scrunched up before her eyes blinked and looked around the sanitary space. Byakugan eyes swept over the room and over Hiashi before darting back to him, and a big smile bloomed on her face.

"Father, you made it! Please come over and sit." .She beckoned her father over to the chair beside the hospital bed she was lying on. Father, actually came! Hanabi's here too!

The white-haired man left his place standing next to Tsume, he gracefully made his way across the room, and came to be seated perfectly in the waiting chair. Hiashi analyzed his bluenette daughter's condition, she had a saline lock attached to her, but she looked healthy. "I'm glad to know they have taken good care of you, Hinata. How far apart have your contractions been?"

It felt surreal for her father to speak so softly to her compared to the usual passive aggressiveness embedded in his words, or his disappointment she had experienced for the majority of her life.

"The last one I had was around sixteen minutes from the one before that, so we're going steadily." .Her father only responded with a nod as a comfortable silence fell between the Hyuuga pair.

Not long after, Tsunade stopped by and performed another examination on Hinata's dilation progression. She scribbled on the clipboard adding the new information, her nurse came back with a cup of chipped ice for Hinata. "You have gotten to four and half centimeters, I wouldn't count on the baby being born within the next six hours, we're looking around possibly later tonight if not tomorrow morning. Remember, I'm always here if anything happens."

The elder thought to herself and looked to Tsume and Hana. "I want you to walk with her for a few minutes."

Hanabi's mouth dropped as she listened to Tsunade explain that it might take over twenty-four hours before Hinata finally delivers the baby and how moving around could help lead to an early birth.

Meanwhile, the Inuzuka women assisted Hinata with getting out of bed and on her feet. Tsunade led the small group out of their assigned room and into the hallway. "If you have a contradiction just hold onto the rails, we'll be right here if you need us."

Hinata found it wasn't that bad getting a chance to stretch her legs. She hadn't felt any pain, yet aside from the pressure on her lower back. This isn't so bad. Sometime went on with a small contradiction here and there, but they were only teasers for what was to come.

The clock on the wall read five o'clock in the afternoon meaning they had been in the hospital for sixteen hours, Hinata was now back in her bed, machines were hooked up, Kiba had woken up after her walk, Hanabi had returned from training, and Tsume, Hiashi, and Hana were sitting on the couch now.

Tsunada tapped her leg a quiet gesture for her to recheck her. The last update had been at seven centimeters. Hinata wanted it to end, she was over the whole swooning aspect.

"Alright, your at nine, Hinata, any moment now and it's baby time!" .A long sigh came from the exhausted woman, who laid her head back. She stiffened and clenched the bars on either side of her as a spasm ran through her.

The pained yelp had Kiba anxiously pacing back and forth as his nerves were shot from hearing that same gut-wrenching sound for the past few hours. He had held her hand through a few, but Hinata worried about hurting him.

He shook his head at the notion, but settled with knowing he would get to bring her some kind of support when she would truly need it.

The group sat on the couch were waiting patiently for when Tsunade announced it was time. In the meantime, the Inuzuka matriarch and Hyuuga patriarch reminisced on old times, family, and loss.

Hana and Hanabi shared an agreement that the two elders were definitely acting strange as Tsume and Hiashi rarely ever showed any kind of emotional vulnerability.

Another hour came and went with fruiful results as Hinata was finally fully dilated. Tsunade had called Sakura to come in and had everyone, but the father leave the delivery room.

"Kiba, your only job is to hold her hand, shower her with praise, and whatever you do don't look over here." .Sakura glared at him, pointing her fingers to her eyes and then to his. It can't be that bad, right? I'm seen worse than the miracle of life in action.

On the other hand, Hinata was experiencing the brute end of carrying a new life and bringing it into the world. She was terrified. What if I can't do it? Her hand found the warmth of her husband's, and she shifted her gaze to him.

Inky feral eyes peered down at her, the slightest bit of tension could be seen in his clenched jaw. Kiba's, just as scared as I am, but he believes in me. She laced her fingers through his and held tight onto him.

"You'll do amazing, princess." .He leaned down close to her and used his free hand to smooth out her bed head before his eyes locked back with her own. "I don't think I could ever grow tired of staring into those eyes."

Kiba pecked her nose before lifting back up, he didn't fix his posture, but he wasn't leaning over her now. Tsunade, sat in the chair at the end of the bed with Sakura standing nearby, her hand came to rest on Hinata's stomach and the other on her knee. "When you feel a contraction, I want you to bear down and push."

The delivery had dragged on over an hour. Hinata had screamed, wailed, panted like she had run a marathon, and contemplated passing out only for her husband to almost beat her to it.

Sakura had exclaimed something about seeing the head, and that their son had a head full of dark hair. Hearing this Kiba had gotten excited and went to see for himself which led to him nearly meeting the floor.

Long and drawn out. Would be the way, Hinata would describe her son's birth. However, her agony hadn't been in vain. Not when his little cry filled the room and the subtle weight was placed on her chest.

She couldn't believe that the small, red, squirmy infant was actually hers. Hinata refused to look away from him, she had fallen in love. Your finally here, Sekiro.

The cries of their child had worked to snap the new father out of the shock he had experienced. Hinata's fingers carefully felt the wet, sticky hair of her son, while Tsunade beckoned Kiba over to cut the cord and laughed at the fearful look in the young man's eyes.

Eventually, he was taken away to be cleaned, examined, and dressed. Despite how exhausted his mother was she watched closely as Sakura carried him away. She only relaxed when her tiny bundle was brought back and placed in the safety of her arms.

The new parent's went breathless as their son lazily opened his eyes, while he nursed. He has the byakugan. Hinata cooed at the infant, who was content with being held and fed.

Kiba and Hinata were left alone with him to bask in the domestic bliss of welcoming their first child into the world as the Inuzuka began to scent Hinata and Sekiro.

Sekiro Neji Inuzuka was born on November sixteenth, weighing six pounds and fourteen ounces, and nineteen inches long. He was the first and only child to be born half Inuzuka and half Hyuuga. Sekiro was the child of two clans.
