Wandering Domination

Summary:

Wander couldn’t help but feel bad for blowing Dominator’s ship up. It was his fault after all. He needed to check up on her. To make sure she was at least ok, but unbeknownst to him. A simple act of kindness would soften even a hardened heart wrapped in magma.

Notes:

Hello there, gentle readers! Welcome to my first Wander Over Yonder fanfic. It’s been years since the show ended, but I suddenly remembered these two goobers, so I’m writing my thoughts down. So please enjoy the story.

Chapter Text

The galaxy is at peace, everyone got their planets back, and Lord Hater was back to his usual tricks, tormenting the whole galaxy. Everything is where as it should be and Wonder felt overjoyed just thinking about all the adventures he and Silvia will get to have in the following days.

Silvia wanted to get some proper sleep in a nice and cozy hotel after all the trouble they’ve been to, and she wanted to get a spa in the morning. The day was rough on the pair, they thwarted Hater’s stupid evil plan, escaped his trap, and saved another planet. It was all in a day’s work for the two heroes, but it does take its toll, and Silvia is long overdue to a well deserved pampering.

But at the same time, Wander couldn’t get a wink of sleep as he laid his head on his soft pillow. He began to think about Dominator. "Hey, Silvia. You awake?"

"Huh? Eh, uh, what?—What do you want, Wander? Afraid to go to bathroom by yourself again?" Silvia groaned as she turned in her bed.

"Do you think Dominator is okay?"

"Why wouldn’t she be? I’m sure she’s okay. She’s a big and tough girl, remember?"

"But I sort of blowed her ship up that was also her home." Wander said in a sorry tone. "Do you think she has somewhere to stay?"

That caught Silvia’s attention. "Just wait one minute, Wander! I know where this is going. You want to make sure if she’s okay, don’t you?"

"Yeah, well, that would be the right thing—" He said sheepishly and was cut off.

"No! That’s totally a bad idea!"

"But Silvia!"

"But nothing, Wander! She’s evil and she nearly destroyed the galaxy. If anything, she deserves what she got."

"Maybe you’re right, Sil." Wander said with a sad look in his eyes as he grabbed his hat from the bedside table and put it on. "But it still doesn’t sit well with me. She may be an evil overlord, but I have to check up on her."

Silvia crossed her arms. "Look buddy, I know to always trust you with this sort of stuff like that time with Wesley, but not this time. I just don’t think Dominator deserves our concern—well, mainly your concern. I can sleep just fine not knowing if she’s okay or not."

"So you’re not coming?"

"Nope!" Silvian turned her back on Wander and covered herself with her blanket. "You’re on your own on this one, Wander. If you’re not back by tomorrow I’ll assume she has taken you hostage and I’ll come rescue you."

Wander looked at Silvia with a sad look in his eyes. He understands where she was coming at, but he knew deep in his heart that Dominator is not that evil, she just needed a friend, she didn’t deserve anything bad to happen to her. With a heavy heart, Wander got out of bed and went out to look for Dominator.

In the wreckage of her ship. Dominator managed to find the mess hall, welded it tight, and activated the artificial gravity and what was left of the room’s life support. She was cold, scorched, tired, her home was reduced to floating debris, she has no bed to lie on, and she was so hungry that her stomach grumbled. The friendship basket she stole from Wander wasn’t enough to fill her up. She looked for a corner, brought her knees close for her face, and cried. "It’s hopeless." She snarled. "I hate it, but it’s so hopeless." Exhaustion was about to overtake her, but she suddenly heard something banging by the door she welded. "What now?" She growled. As she walked towards the sealed door she heard his annoying voice.

"Dominator? Are you in there? I can see lights working, everything else around this debris field are all turned off, so I guessed—"

Dominator let out a sigh. "Yeah! I’m in here. What do you want, Wander?"

"I just wanted to check up on you."

"You blew up my ship—what do you think, Wander?" Dominator took a deep breathe. She realized she didn’t have the strength to argue with the orange weirdo right now. "Look… I’m just peachy, okay? You can leave now."

"I’m not an idiot, Dom—"

"Could’ve fooled me." She said sarcastically.

Wander chuckled. "I can read the room… Sometimes. I know you’re not okay. Everything is not okay for you right now."

Dominator pinched the bridge of her barely visible nose. "Yes, yes, you’re right, but I don’t need your help! You’ve done enough "helping" already. So just go away, Wander!"

"You know I can’t do that." Wander said from behind Dominator.

"What the!" Dominator jumped before she glared at Wander. "How did you that!"

"Do what?"

"Get in here! I sealed this room shut!" She screamed at Wander

"I don’t really know?" Wander contemplated. "I just sort of find myself inside of a ship I’m trying to get into." He said as he scratched the back of his head and smiled at Dominator.

"I don’t care! Just get out!"

One look at Dominator and Wander knew he couldn’t leave her alone. She looked weak, hungry, and grumpy. She was always grumpy, but more grumpy that usual. "You hungry? I could rustle us some grub."

Dominator couldn’t ignore her hunger anymore, but she would rather starve than ask Wander for some help. "I’m fine, Wander. Just get out of here already."

"Okie-dokie! I’ll go rustle us some tasso with purple beans on a bed of star rice with fried doom dragon eggs and my homestyle khorne bread—mmmm hm! I’m starving already!" He said with glee as he headed for the kitchen and pulled an apron out of his hat and put it on.

"Oh glop, Wander! Why are you so annoying? I have no food left in the kitchen. Everything blew up!" Dominator screamed.

"Oh, don’t worry. I got it." Wander said with a smile on his face with plenty of ingredients on the kitchen counter, via magic hat delivery. "You just sit back, relax, and sit tight. This will be done in a jiff." Wander then began cooking.

Dominator has had enough. She was going to kick Wander out, but as soon as she smelled the spicy cured meat being sautéed. Her mouth began to water and her stomach grumbled. She was grumpy about it, but she sat by one of the many table in the mess hall, and waited for the food.

As Wander promised, he was done in just a few shakes, and brought their food over to the table. After a satisfying dinner. Dominator wiped her mouth with a table napkin. "Hate to admit it, but that was good eatin’, dork."

"Aww, schuks! Thanks Dom."

"So will you leave now?" Dominator said rudely.

"What’s the rush? I just got here."

Dominator rolled her eyes. "It’s late! And what are you even doing here?"

"I want to help you. I mean it." Wander said with a sincere look in his eyes.

Dominator grumbled. "For the love of—why?" She snapped. "We’re enemies remember?"

"An enemy is simply a friend—"

"Can it, dweeb! I know nothing in this galaxy is for free. What do you want from me? Power? I’m finished. Money? Without my computer I can’t access my credits and all of my paper documents are burned to ashes. So what, do you like me or something?"

"Yes, Dom! Of course, I like you."

Dominator blushed. She knows Wander meant something else. The guy has been trying to be her friend since the moment they meant. He doesn’t like her that way, but still… To hear it out loud. "Why do you want to be my friend so badly?"

"Because you look like you could use one."

"Well, you’re wrong! I don’t need one. Not then, not now, not ever!"

"Be that as it may, I would still like to stick around to help you tidy things up." Wander shot Dom his brightest and most goofiest smile. "I’m real good at fixing stuff."

"Liar!"

"Yeah! You got me." Wander laughed. "But honest to goodness, Dominator. I can help. Please let me."

"Let’s say you could, but you still can’t."

"Why not?"

"I designed and built my own ship. It is a special kind. It can repair itself even it is in this ruined state, but in order to do that we will need to crack open a planet and suck its core dry."

"That’s no problem." Wander said cheerfully, swaying his head side to side.

"What? Isn’t that the thing we were fighting about? The thing you risked your life for? The main point of the finale… Of our conflict."

"Tsk tsk tsk, I saw what you did there, Dom, but no. I know a better alternative."

"You don’t get it, Wander. My ship can’t run on ordinary fuel. It is simply not compatible—"

Wander took his hat down and showed it to Dominator. "Go on, Dom. Just think about what you need and reach in."

"And what?"

"Just do it, Dom!" Wander squealed with glee.

"Ugh, fine! But after this I want you gone."

"Okay, it is a deal."

Dominator reached to humor Wander and get him to leave. She doesn’t know what the little twerp’s game was, but she just wanted it to be over with, but to her shock, she felt something in Wander’s hat. "What the?" She pulled it out and saw in her hand a glowing orb, kinda like a miniature sun. It was even warm to the touch. "What is this?"

"It is what you need."

"I don’t even know what it is?"

"Dominator, Dominator, Dominator." Wander said with a smug look on his face. "I thought you were very smart?"

"What is that suppose to mean?" Dominator snarled.

"What were you talking about earlier?"

"My ship can’t run on normal fuel?"

"What do you have there now?"

"This is not a planet’s core?" Dominator held the orb to her face.

"No, it is something better—or at least I think it is?" Wander patted his hat. "My hat gives you what you need, not what you want. Let’s just try slotting it in! What can go wrong?"

Dominator was hesitant and annoyed. "Oh, fine! It is not like anything can get any worse."

Wander and Dominator traveled to the debris of her engine room via space bubble.

Dominator busted through a wall with a magma fist and Wander safely steered them inside. "I highly doubt this little thing can power my ship up." Dominator threw the orb into her engine with hardly any enthusiasm and didn’t wait or something to happen. "You can leave now, Wander. I played your little game. I just want to get some sleep." She said with a sigh

"Reserve energy accumulated." An automated voice suddenly said. "Energy levels steadily rising. Beginning auto-recharge. Ship integrity: zero. Initiating self-repairs. Please standby."

"What the what?" Dominator said in shock.

"Awww, Dominator!" Wander cheered as she dove into Dominator and gave her a big ol’ hug. "It works! I told you it would work. I’m so happy for you."

Dominator couldn’t believe her eyes. Her ship fixed itself in a matter of minutes and a couple minutes more her ship began producing drones, and the life support and artificial gravity suddenly kicked in.

"All systems are online, power levels are all high with no signs of dropping, and the orb I got from you is snuggly nestled in my core container. Clean perpetual energy." Dominator gasped as he fiddled around with the computer in her engine room. "Why did you help me, Wander?"

Wander smiled at Dominator and wrapped his arms around her waist and hugged her. "I know you’re not so bad. I couldn’t leave you without a home."

Dominator blushed and she felt super embarrassed. "But why? I destroyed planets, I terrorized people, and I hunted you down like an animal." She said as she placed her hands on Wander’s shoulders. "I’m the bad guy, you’re the hero—so act like it!"

"I never said that?" Wander looked up at Dominator. "I’m no hero. I’m just someone who likes to help. Plus, that is what friends are for." Wander made another bubble. "Welp, happy to help Dom. So I’ll leave you to it."

Dominator was watching Wander about to leave. She scratched her arm and scratched the back of her head. She made up her mind and stomped her left foot hard on the floor. "Hey Wander!" She shouted.

"Hm?" Wander turned around as he was about to blow a bubble.

"It’s really late. You can sleep here if you want." Dominator said shyly.

"You don’t mind?"

"I’m offering, aren’t I?"

Wander squealed with delight. "I would love to, Dom!"

She didn’t know what came over her. Why did she invite Wander in for the night? It was puzzling her as she had three of her drones ready a guest room before she retreated to her own room, but there was only one problem. "Why are you in my bed with me?" She growled at Wander.

"You told me you’ve never had a friend before and that means you’ve never had a slumber party before! You’re really missin’ out."

Dominator let out an irritated sigh. "You’re lucky I’m indebted to you or my fist would’ve kissed your face by now."

"So what do you want to do? Play cards or watch a horror movie." Wander gasped. "How about we gossip? Oh! I know a good story or two that’ll make your jaw drop. Wanna hear something about commander Peepers? Or how about Emperor Awesome? Did you know he still sleeps with a nightlight on."

Dominator sighed. "Look Wander, I’m full and I’m tired. Let’s just watch a movie and fall asleep to it, okay?"

"Sure thing, Dom." Wander yawned. "I’m sleepy too." He said as he snuggled with Dominator in her sheets.

Oddly enough, Dominator did not mind having the little twerp around. Thinking nothing of it, she placed a hand on Wander’s shoulder, grabbed the remote beside her, and turned on the huge TV in front of her bed. She put on a horror movie she has watched a million times and set the volume to bare minimum. She didn’t know how. She didn’t know when, but she and Wander suddenly fell as sleep.
