the last embrace.

Summary:

The Kid gasped for air, only to be dragged down into a suffocating embrace.

Maybe dying wasn't as bad as he thought.

Work Text:

The boy's heart pounded in his chest as he leaped from chair to briefcase;

So loud and fast he could hear it thumping.

If only he had stayed in bed like everyone else—

Maybe he wouldn't be in this mess,

Wouldn't be currently fearing for his life.

No.

Stay positive, RK.

He would be fine,

So long as he didn't miss a—

Splash!

Panicking, RK started paddling to the nearest surface.

He could already see the monster swimming twords him, water bubbling from its breathing.

He was almost there; just a little longer and he'd make it.

The kid suddenly felt a tug on his ankle.

His hands shot out to grab onto the suitcase in front of him.

But it didn't help.

No surface or land could help him now.

RK knew it was her—what else could it be?

The Granny pulled harder on his ankle, her grip bruising.

The kid tried to hold on, but she was much too strong.

And he was much too worn out to fight her off.

Eventually, his grip on the suitcase slackened, and he let go.

Immediately, he was yanked down into the depths below.

RK tried to swim against The Granny's grip.

The kid gasped for air.

Only water entered his lungs.

He could feel his brain start to fog from the lack of oxygen.

RK stopped flailing.

He felt calm.

Too calm, for someone about to die.

The Granny's arms wrapped around him, pulling him into a hug.

It was comforting, he thought.

The last thought he would ever have.

Maybe dying wasn't so bad after all.

Notes:

I kinda hate the last line of this fic.

Lowkey might change it later.
