Work Text:

Alex Danvers had her Friday night planned. She would fix a sumptuous dinner for her wife, Astra…actually a big order of pizza and pot stickers…then sit down on the sofa with the love of her life, watch a couple of bad movies on streaming, then finish the night making hot, steamy love. In other words, a normal Friday night.

Which is why she was cursing the gods for the fact that she was, instead of in the kitchen getting things ready, she was sitting at a desk at the DEO, filling out forms that for some reason needed only her signature and no one else's. However, it would probably only delay things by an hour or so. Besides, what could possibly happen?

Then the phone at her desk rang, answering that question.

"Miss Danvers." Alex knew the voice too well. She and the person on the other end had tangled many times before. However, she hadn't sounded this sinister in over a decade.

"Lillian Luthor, I presume," Alex answered calmly, A part of her fearing what was about to be said.

"You know I have a long memory, Miss Danvers…of everything you and that Kryptonian sister of yours put Myself and my son through…"

This started to sound very familiar. It was thought that Lillian Luther and her son, Lex, had reformed. The Luther family had worked together with the DEO on a few cases. And the friendship between Lillian and Alex's sister, Kara…aka Supergirl…as Unlikely as it would have been, came much closer during the years, especially after the birth of daughter Alura, as well as Alex's daughter with Astra, CJ.

"What is your point, Luthor?" Alex was in no mood for games.

"Here," said Lillian. There was a brief silent moment, and then a different voice came through the receiver...

"Brave one..."

Astra just saying those two words triggered Alex into a combination of emotions: love and passion for the Kryptonian she loved with all her heart...and anger because of the possibility her love may be in danger.

"Are you alright?! Did she hurt you?!" Alex was trying to hold in her emotions when she heard Astra's voice. The General was her usual calm self, but that did not settle the General's wife. But just as that was settling in, Lillian returned to the phone: "You know the warehouse. Your girl and I will be waiting." -click-

Alex's Harley could not leave the DEO lot fast enough. It usually takes about 20 minutes to get to the NatCity warehouse district. Alex got there in eight. It was a miracle that she didn't collect a contingent from the NCPD, not only for speeding like the Flash on two wheels, but also for frantic phone calls on her cell and wireless earbuds. Kara…not home. James…on assignment in Gotham. The level of desperation exemplified by her calling her daughter and her niece…CJ and Allie are nowhere to be found. The Harley almost crashed into the wall of the warehouse building, and the only solace Alex felt was knowing that when she got in Lillian Luthor's face, she'd be the only one charged with her murder.

The Agent knew exactly where to go…she had been to that "dungeon" several times for various reasons. In more recent times, it was not as a prisoner, but for refuge. For her daughter and/or niece when they needed quiet time, or for Kara, Astra, or herself when they needed a time out. In the years since she, her wife, and her adopted sister became mothers, Lillian became less their Moriarty and more a friend and a sounding board. The four women had become very close over the years, especially Kara and Lillian. So, it escaped Alex on how Lillian had turned all villainous all of a sudden. It was that confusion mixed with blind anger that was coursing through Alex when she entered the darkened room she knew so well. And in front of her stood Lillian Luthor. And standing next to her was General Astra In-Ze, wearing a black tracksuit with a hood covering her head.

Lillian had her hair up in the style she had when Alex and Kara (in her Supergirl guise), and that severe evil schoolmarm look Alex knew so well.

"I. Want. Astra." It was all the Agent could do not to lunge.

Lillian then nodded to the General when she slowly walked over to her wife.

Alex did not know what to think as Astra moved closer. Was the love of her life and the co-parent of their daughter about to do something unthinkable? The Agent's dark brown eyes met Astra's blue-greens. The human and the Kryptonian stood in front of each other for the longest time.

And then, Astra removed the hood from her head.

And at that moment, all the hate, all the anger, all of the confusion…all of it…evaporated when Alex looked at Astra.

Gone was the straight, silky mane of jet-black hair with that distinctive white streak

from the head of the Kryptonian. In its place was a mane of long, flowing golden locks with the white streak intact. Alex stood looking at her wife, stunned in the initial moment.

Then Alex's hands grabbed Astra's head, pulled it closer to the agent's, and then the two kissed deeply and passionately.

The kiss lasted for several moments…at least until two voices broke the reverie:

"I have to admit…you were right…" Lillian Luthor admitted with a sigh.

"Why, thank you, kind lady…pay up, please!" That voice came from one snug Kara Danvers who was sitting in the darkness, watching the whole thing…

The couple broke the kiss and turned to the two women. Alex gave both her adopted sister and her adopted nemesis. Then she realized that the love of her life was in on this. The agent did not have to say a word to communicate that explanations were in order…

"The hair was my idea. I know you find me beautiful...but I wanted to do something special. I hope that you found it special…." Alex beamed as Astra gave her explanation. The General did not have to do that, but after 20 years, a daughter, and several adventures together, Alex knew her lady was full of surprises, not to mention a flair for the theatrical.

Alex gave the newly blonde Astra another kiss, then looked at Kara and Lillian: "Ok…what's your story…?"

"Look, agent," Lillian explained, "I know how much you love Astra, but I thought the first thing you'd say was 'what the hell?'"

"And I said that I knew my sister and my aunt…Alex would love Aunt Astra even if she showed up with a shaved head and a beard!"

Lillian responded with a raised eyebrow, "Do NOT give them any ideas!"

Kara continued, "Anyway, I bet I was right, and she spotted me on her thinking that you guys would have an argument…"

Lillian: "And I lost. Here…" The former villain whipped out and snapped a crisp $100 bill and gave it to Kara. Alex and Astra stared at the other women in disbelief, at which point the Luthor matriarch quipped, "Who do you think I am…Randolph and Mortimer Duke?"

"Which gives me an idea, babe," Alex said, looking at Astra with lascivious thoughts in her mind, "Let's go home and fire up 'Trading Places,' and we can free the movie at "inspiration point." Astra, Kara, and Lillian looked at each other sporting devilish grins, and a thought the three expressed in unison: "Jamie. Lee."

With that, the four women made their way to the door, with Kara and Lillian going their separate ways and Alex and Astra heading home with lust on their minds..

"By the way, Astra…just wondering…does the carpet now still match the drapes…?"

"No, Brave One…they're now just wooden planks!"

All Kara and Lillian could do was shake their heads and pinch their noses their way out the door…

Author's Comments:

It's been a minute.

Not sure if inspiration is back, but a new computer definitely helps.

The genesis of this attempt was the fact that our Astra, Laura Benanti, showed up on Colbert with golden locks, looking hotterthanhell. That was the idea. Don't worry…I don't think it's permanent.

It took me two days to write this. All I ask is that you be kind when responding. More to come. Happy New Year.
