Throwing Away His Time Instead Of His Humanity

Summary:

With many critics saying Ironwood should have wasted his time fiddling with a tiny ring, it leads to the question of just what would have happened if Ironwood actually did that instead.

Work Text:

Ironwood looked at the hardlight projection that held him in place. He could have just pulled his arm out…

But he decided that he wouldn’t throw away his humanity.

Instead, he five precious minutes fiddling with the ring that created this projection. By the time he shut it off and freed himself, he saw Watts had already made it to the main controls of Amity and…

Wait, why is there a large Grimm jellyfish attached to it?

Suddenly Salem projected herself out of the Jellyfish and, by extension, to Mantle and Atlas.

“All your base are belong to us.” She smiled.

“Ah fuck.” Ironwood said as everyone began to panic and scream, causing more Grimm to come and devour them, allowing Monstra to swan dive right onto the open patch of land and invade with even more Grimm, including one that despite causing an entire flame war just to be in, barely made an appearance.

Literally in the span of five minutes, Atlas and Mantle were lost. All because Ironwood chose to spare his humanity.

And to twist the knife, the critics who call him a fascist would say how he should have flayed his arm to stop Watts instead.
