The flowers died on Monday

Summary:

They were here not long ago.

Notes:

This was just a drabble I wrote. No editing, please be nice.

Work Text:

The flowers died on Monday. That was 3 days ago, yet they still sit in the pot on the windowsill. Like their owner believed that with enough love they will grow strong again. The kitchen they sit in is immaculate, perfectly catalog clean, except for the fine layer of dust coating everything.

The bedroom off the kitchen is just as clean. Dust layering everything including the one sock line halfway between the bed and hamper carelessly thrown as if forgotten. The hospital corners of the bed perfect. Making one question just what the person living there was like.

The restroom of the apartment looks untouched not even a bar of soap seems to have been opened. The only proof that the room had ever been used is the watermarks on the mirror. Even the drains of the shower and sink free from any build up or mildew.

The living room seems just the same at first glance except there's a fingerprint on the windowsill and the whole handprint on the open window pane. The window is still open even with the rain that hasn't stopped for the last 2 days.

Only three points to prove that Mary and Nathaniel have been here but that was all Lola needed. All Lola needed to know that the men Nathan had sent to look for the two five days ago had scared them off instead of catching or killing them. Enough for Lola to know that someone's head is going to roll when she brings information back to him in a few hours.

"Rome get Jackson they're gone" She turns walking back out to the car taking them to the airport and home.
