Chapter Text
Slingshot was awoken by the sound of his alarm beeping, the sound was aggravating and loud. He tapped the button on top to silence the alarm, it stopped it's horrendous beeping. He then got up and went to the kitchen to start making breakfast for the 3 of them.
Vine Staff was the first to wake up to the aroma of bacon and eggs in the air. "Morning Sling! You cooking bacon and eggs?" Vine Staff asked Slingshot with a smile on her face.
"Of course! I know it's one of your favorites, so I thought might as well make it since we have eggs and bacon." Slingshot replied to Vine Staff while cooking diligently.
"Alright, I think I'm going to do a load of laundry and wake up Shuri if he doesn't get up soon." Vine Staff said walking away towards the laundry room.
Slingshot continued cooking and put the bacon on a plate, he then returned to cooking the eggs. He quickly flipped the egg off the pan creating an astonishing egg. Then he cracked open 3 eggs above a bowl then beat the eggs with a whisk, adding in some fresh Rosemary and salt. Then he poured the mixture into the pan he used to cook the other 2 eggs. He grabbed some diced onions and sprinkled them on to the egg, adding some shredded cheese on it too. He then left it there allowing it to cook for 8 minutes before folding it over and setting it on a plate.
Shuriken walked into the kitchen as Slingshot was plating the eggs and bacon. "Hi Sling, what's for breakfast?" Shuriken asked Slingshot sleepily while rubbing his eyes.
"Eggs and bacon, go ahead and sit down at the table since I'm almost done plating it." Slingshot said then added something on. "Oh and go get Vine."
"Alrighty then." Shuriken said walking toward the laundry room where Vine Staff told him she'd be.
Vine Staff was taking a load of laundry out of the dryer that she had forgotten to take out the other night, when Shuriken stumbled into the laundry room. "Vine breakfast is almost ready." Shuriken told Vine Staff.
"Oh, okay I'm coming just let me finish this really quick." Vine Staff said setting down the laundry basket on the floor.
Shuriken the walked out of the laundry room to find breakfast set out on the table. He went to go sit down and enjoy the food.
Slingshot was cleaning up in the kitchen when his phone started ringing, he walked over and looked at the caller ID. Oh, Skateboard was calling him! Usually he'd never be up this earlier in the morning since he prefers to sleep in, he probably just woke up early today. Slingshot answered the phone happily. "Hey Skate!" Slingshot told Skateboard.
"Hi Sling, sorry for calling you so early in the morning or well I guess it's early in the morning for me but whatever. Uh I was wondering if you, Shuriken, and Vine Staff wanted to hang out with me, Coil, and Boombox at that theme park in Crossroads on Saturday? If you don't wanna that's fine." Skateboard asked Slingshot.
Slingshot thought about it for a moment, a trip to the theme park would be nice. It would also be on the weekend which would mean that they could stay for as long as they wanted, well until the park closes. "Yeah sure! I'll ask Vine and Shuri if they want to come too." Slingshot replied to Skateboard.
"Great! It's going to be awesome, okay I think I'm going to go back to sleep now. Bye Sling." Skateboard told Slingshot.
"Bye Skate." Slingshot said hanging up the phone.
Slingshot then walked over to the table where Vine Staff and Shuriken sat, eating their breakfast. Slingshot took a seat and starting eating his food, it was amazing as usual. "Hey guys?" Slingshot asked the other two at the table.
"Yeah Sling?" Vine Staff said.
"Skateboard just called me and asked if we three would want to go to the theme park this Saturday with Boombox, Coil, and him. I said yes but I don't know if you two wanted to come, I did tell him I'd update him later whenever I y'know asked you guys." Slingshot told the two siblings.
"Of course, that sounds awesome!" Shuriken squealed excitedly from the other end of the table.
"I'd like that, it sounds fun plus I've heard that theme park is awesome." Vine Staff said enthusiastically accepting the invite.
"Alright, I'll be sure to tell Skateboard that." Slingshot said before taking another bite of his eggs.
They all finished their breakfast then proceeded to get ready for a Friday at Slingshot's cafe. Slingshot quickly changed into his uniform, brushed his teeth, and grabbed his phone. He then waited for Vine Staff and Shuriken to finish getting ready so they could leave. Shuriken got ready quickly. He then walked over to the front door where they would then have to wait for Vine Staff. Vine Staff finally arrived at the front door and then they all left the apartment and piled into their car.
Slingshot started driving to the cafe, through the morning traffic. Constant horns honking, car engines revving up, and the stop lights emmiting lights on the cars below. "Remember the first and last time we let Shuriken drive? That was nuts!" Slingshot said breaking the silence in the car.
"I do not drive that bad! Sis, back me up?" Shuriken told Slingshot while attempting to get Vine Staff to defend him.
"He is kinda right...you almost hit a stop sign. Honestly you aren't the best at driving, no offence." Vine Staff replied to Shuriken honestly.
"Oh, the lights finally green." Slingshot said stepping on the pedal.
~10 minutes later~
Slingshot, Shuriken, and Vine Staff finally arrived at the cafe after the morning rush. They hopped out of the car and walked into the cafe.
They had to set up some things before they opened, luckily it was only 7:30, 30 minutes before the cafe opened. They all went into the back and started setting up the machines, putting away dishes, and cleaning up some things they forgot to clean last night.
Finally, after finishing up everything they could open up the cafe. No one had come for the first few minutes, soon the morning rush came through. People started coming into the cafe every 30 seconds.
Slingshot was running around in the back making coffee after coffee. Shuriken was in charge of packing up the sweets and coffee. Vine Staff was running the register rapidly typing in orders.
"SHURIKEN HAVE YOU SEEN THE EXTRA BAG OF SUGAR WE HAD?" Slingshot yelled at Shuriken from across the kitchen while grinding coffee beans and boiling water.
"I think I saw it in the back, BUT RIGHT NOW I CAN'T GET IT BECAUSE 5 MORE ORDERS JUST POPPED UP!" Shuriken responded to Slingshot in a calm tone before switching to a panicked one.
This wasn't unusual for this type of weather and time, every Friday morning things would always getting super busy, especially if it was cold outside.
"WHY THE HELL IS THERE 5 MORE COFFEE ORDERS WE JUST FINISHED THE LAST 5!" Slingshot yelled from across the kitchen, obviously frustrated.
"JUST MAKE THE DAMN COFFEE!" Shuriken yelled back from the other side of the kitchen, putting bags of food on the order counter for Vine Staff to give to the customers.
Vine Staff quickly popped up in the order window. "Good news, the lines almost gone. Hang in there you guys!" Vine Staff told the two happily before turning back to face the register.
Slingshot continued to make coffee after coffee, while Shuriken packed them up and passed them to Vine Staff, who then gave them to the customer's.
Finally after an antagonizing hour, they had survived the morning rush. Slingshot and Shuriken both sat down on the spare chairs they had in the back. The chairs were very plush and comfortable, making the perfect relaxing place after a long morning rush.
~1 hour later~
So far only a few customers had come to the cafe, which was a good thing since they didn't have to stress about making twenty coffees every five minutes. Slingshot was mid way cleaning a few trays that he forgot to clean from the morning rush, when his phone rang. Slingshot didn't look at it, it was probably a scammer anyway. He let it go to voicemail.
His phone then rang again, now he wasn't sure if it was a scammer or not. Slingshot finished cleaning the tray he was cleaning and then looked at the caller ID, Skateboard. Why the hell was Skateboard calling him at 10:30 in the morning? Doesn't he wake up at this time? Slingshot just answered the phone before it went to voicemail again.
"Hi Skate, why are you calling me at like 10:30 in the morning? You usually wake up at this time do you not?" Slingshot answered the phone, greeting Skateboard and asking him questions.
"I'll be at the cafe in 10 minutes with Coil, talk to ya soon." Skateboard said before hanging up the phone.
Oh Lord, not double trouble. Coil was known for annoying Slingshot at his cafe, Skatebaord would usually also annoy him whenever he was with Coil. Slingshot just stood there for a second, realising that soon he'd have to deal with Coil's annoying self. Oh, and Skateboard too, hopefully they don't piss him off too bad.
"Guys Coil and Skateboard are coming soon, just let me handle it. I'd rather not have them harass you..." Slingshot told the other 2.
"Alright well I'm gonna go make a chair bed with the spare chairs back there, bye." Shuriken said running off to the back room with all the chairs.
"I'll just go into the kitchen and prepare stuff for lunchtime, good luck." Vine Staff said walking into the kitchen.
Slingshot stood at the counter, awaiting doom. Just then he heard the door open with a jingle, the sound of footsteps following the jingle. "Hey Sling!" Coil said walking up to the counter with Skateboard behind him.
"Hi Coil...are you here to annoy me again or are you actually gonna order?" Slingshot asked Coil.
"Would you be mad if I said both?" Coil told Slingshot before speaking again. "Anyways I really don't know what I want to get...gimmie a minute."
"You come here like at least twice a week and get the same thing every time, how the hell do you not know what to order?" Slingshot told Coil, obviously getting pissed off.
"God forbid I want to switch it up for once!" Coil said sarcastically.
"You know what, I might as well switch up my order too!" Skateboard added on to Coil's previous statement.
"You two are both pissing me off." Slingshot said leaning over the register now.
"Yeah we know, kitten whiskers." Skateboard said jokingly towards Slingshot.
"Pardon?" Slingshot asked Skateboard.
Did he really hear that right? He definitely has an interesting form of jokes. Also why the hell would you call someone "kitten whiskers"?
"I didn't say nuthin, I just said I know what to order is all." Skateboard said back to Slingshot, countering what he said.
"That's uhm a bit...y'know what whatever, I'm ready to order." Coil said, not finishing his previous sentence.
"Alright, what do you hooligans want?" Slingshot asked the 2, who would probably say some stupid stuff again.
"My usual." Skateboard said casually like he hadn't just said he was going to get something else.
"Alright then, and for you Coil?" Slingshot asked Coil, attempting to not get even more annoyed at the 2.
"I think I'll take a medium latte, please." Coil told Slingshot.
"Alright so one medium latte and one medium black coffee coming right up, oh also that'll be 9.50$ please!" Slingshot told them.
"I got it Skate." Coil told Skateboard pulling out his wallet and grabbing 9 dollars and 2 quarters out.
"Thank you! Your order will be out shortly." Slingshot said taking Coil's money, putting it in the register, and running to the back.
Slingshot started grinding up coffee beans, while doing that he boiled water. In around 4 minutes the coffee's were ready. Slingshot grabbed both the coffee's and took them over to the table where Skateboard and Coil were sitting.
"Alright, here's your medium latte and your medium black coffee, enjoy!" Slingshot told the 2, handing them both their drinks.
"Thanks Sling!" Skateboard told Slingshot happily.
"Thanks dude!" Coil told Slingshot.
Slingshot then ran off to the kitchen once again. Being able to leave the 2 hooligans made him smile, sure they were his friends but they constantly teased and annoyed him! Sure, they might annoy him, but he still cares about them just like they do for him.
"Man, that theme park is gonna be awesome!" Skateboard said enthusiastically.
"I know right? Im glad Boombox recommend it." Coil responded to Skateboard before taking a sip of his latte.
"He always has the best ideas." Skateboard added on.
"You should also bring some money with you for the theme park booths and stuff." Coil told Skateboard.
"Yeah, I barley have any but sure. I'll bring what I have, don't expect me to give you any of my food though." Skateboard responded to Coil.
"Alright buddy." Coil said sternly to Skateboard.
Not much conversation happened after that, just them sipping coffee and looking outside the windows.
Crossroads was a marvelous and big city that was particularly loud, especially in the top layer of it.
The second layer was loud, but not as loud; it was also the layer Thevies Rest was located at.
"You wanna go ahead and go? I'm getting bored and my coffee is all gone." Skateboard asked Coil.
"Sure." Coil responded to Skateboard.
They both got up and threw away what little was left of their coffees.
"You guys leaving?" Slingshot asked from the register.
The sudden familiar voice had gotten the 2's attention. Skateboard and Coil didn't even realize he'd been at the register the entire time just standing there, watching their conversation play out.
"Oh, yeah! I completely forgot you were even here Sling." Skateboard responded to Slingshot.
"Me too." Coil said from beside Skateboard.
"You two going ahead and heading out?" Slingshot asked the 2.
"Yep, just wanted to say bye to you before we left." Coil responded to Slingshot.
"Oh, well bye then! I'll see you guys this weekend, it is going to be awesome!" Slingshot told the 2 wishing them farewell.
"Bye Sling!" Coil told Slingshot.
"See ya later Sling!" Skateboard told Slingshot.
With that the two exited the dinner and left off to Playground, their home. They thought about what would happen tomorrow with the theme park, hopefully everything would go well.
But maybe it wouldn't.
