Work Text:
Hob was enjoying Christmas Eve alone with a mug of hot chocolate and a crackling fire in the fireplace. The sounds of Christmas carols drifted towards him from the church. He looked up at the stars and sighed. He was out there somewhere. Hob missed him, clearly his successor was nice and all. But it wasn't him.
"I miss you," he looked up at the sky. "I wish you could be here."
“Hello Hob.” Hob turned and screamed. He was standing behind him, just as he remembered him.
“What the…”
"You made a wish to a star,“ Morpheus replied.
"So this isn't just a dream? Are you really here?"
"I'm here, Hob Gadling."
"I'm starting to believe that miracles really do happen at Christmas." Morpheus smiled. "Please stay. I missed you."
"I can stay," Morpheus nodded. "If you want."
"Yes, I do." Hob thought. "Actually, I don't want you to leave, I mean at all. Will that work?"
"It will work. I am not Endless anymore. I am not bound by anything." Morpheus smiled.
"In that case, allow me to show you the magic of Christmas London."
"It would be my pleasure," Morpheus accepted Hob's hand, and together they walked out into snowy London.
