Chapter Text
I’d never thought of myself as a remorseful person. Me and my comrades planned to dismember the prince's fragile body and toss him into the sea but I couldn't bear the thought. That night, at our feast, I had snuck certain herbs into their meals.
I took matters into my own hands that night. I knew they threw telemacus’ body into the water to “soak him” but he wouldn’t die. Before jumping into the water, I threw off his chiton. Swooping into the water, it took a good 5 minutes before I saw him. His body was limp and weak. My heart dropped. It's not like I like the prince, he kept me and my comrades from Penelope but even I think he should have a chance at a life. I gently swept my hands under him, holding him tight to my chest. It wasn’t easy to swim like this but I managed. Upon resurfacing I noticed the noose on his neck, I removed it of course. The other can’t know I'm doing this.
I grabbed my already packed sack and then carried the prince onto a boat. I'm leaving. I tied the sail and we set off…well i did, he’s still asleep. The sea was quiet and eerily calm, Poseidon didn't seem to bat an eye at me, not that I'm complaining but he usually takes notice of this kinda stuff. After what felt like years we hit it. I knew of an empty island called Makronisos. There were no inhabitants, no animals…just you, food, the sea and a small cabin that had enough furniture to count as a house.
I laid the young prince to rest on one of the many beds, as I awaited his wake, I went out. I ended up collecting mangos, pears and some coconuts. As I'm preparing water and cutting up the pears and mangos I hear a voice, directly behind me. “Where the hell am I?!” his voice was anything but low, it was the prince alright. “With me, obviously” I said with ease, not turning to face him yet. “I don’t wanna be anywhere near you! You're a horrible person!” I sighed, my chest suddenly heavy. “I saved you from death, doesn't that give me some respect?” I saw the realization hit him, his eyes wide, an exasperated sigh escaping his lips.
“Why?” is all he muttered.
“I know it seems weird but I did not wanna kill you. I don’t like killing. But…I saved you so you could live past 20.” I finally turned to face him, handing him a plate of skinned and cut up mangos and pears and a glass of water. “Boost up ur energy, ur gonna need it” my tone was more cheery than intended. “Why?” he asked again, god, he was more annoying than i thought.
I didn't expect him to act like a nat but yet here he was. “I'm taking you back to Ithaca tomorrow and you're gonna need a boost to help me kill those other suitors.” I again watched his face contort. “Wha-why should I help you?” I sighed, wanting to grab his shoulder and shake him but I didn't. “I know how to handle a spear but you have your fathers bow skills in your blood, we’re a power team.” I watched him sit on the shabby couch and take a bit of his food. “I'll help you but what's in it for me?” no emotion was in his voice. “I won't go near your mother again” i knew that much was true, i didnt even really want penelope, i was just going alone with my fellow suitors. But now, I'm protecting the prince and I'll make damn sure nothing happens to his family.
