“Deck the halls with boughs of holly,” Blair sang as he carried holly wreaths into the loft and hung them on the balcony windows. Jim had given Blair permission to have a “small” group of friends over to celebrate the holidays – as long as he cleaned up after and Blair was determined to decorate the loft and make it cheerful. While he didn’t get a Christmas Tree Blair had brought in red and green scentless candles, holly wreaths, and a few decorations.
After hearing what kind of party it would be Jim had declined an invitation to join the group deciding he would make himself scarce and had gone out to dinner with Simon.
Finishing up and content with the admittedly small décor, Blair prepped some foods and waited for his friends to arrive. Every year they would meet and make some unusual dishes. They would then share these sometimes delectable (and sometimes not) recipes and decide whether or not these were recipes worth keeping.
It was three hours later when Jim walked back into the loft and looked around, noticing first the four friends and then the food on the table.
“Hey, Jim,” Blair greeted him. “Come and join us we’re about to have dessert.”
“Thanks,” Jim said glancing at the table and trying to identify the weird looking foods.
Blair seeing his frown identified the foods as a Christmas Vegeducken, a Sushi Christmas Tree, and Maple Bacon Truffles. “We’re about to try some dessert recipes,” Blair explained.
Jim gave a smile. “I’ve already had dessert. I’ll just go upstairs,” he answered. “Enjoy your dessert,” he disappeared up the stairs.
Blair watched him go and then turned to his friends and laughed. “Jim is an apple pie kind of guy,” he explained before handing out dishes.
