Chapter Text
November 2, 2012
It was finally Friday, Seonghwa just had to get through one more day, then he could be free from the overload of work his teachers assigned for the week. He planned to try to get something for Hongjoong to give him for his upcoming birthday, only problem is he barely knew what he liked. He tried not to think about it too much throughout the day, in order to focus on his classwork. Once school ended, he started thinking of what to get him. Seonghwa wanted to give him something small, maybe a ring or something.
Suddenly he had a brilliant idea, he would get Hongjoong a promise ring, the promise being to stay by each other's side for more years to come. Seonghwa couldn’t get anything too expensive because he only had roughly $200, he’d been saving up. He decided on going to the cheapest jewelry store he knew of, although he really didn’t like their selection, so he went to a few different ones before finally finding a couple rings he liked. They were simple, one had a star engraved on it and the other had a moon engraved.
Each ring costed around $75, so he purchased both of them and made his way home. When he made it home, his parents immediately started asking him where he was, since it was a couple hours past school ending. Seonghwa briefly explained how he went to get something for Hongjoong’s birthday, while showing them the rings he bought. When they let him go, he excitedly rushed up to his room and flopped onto his bed.
He hugged one of his pillows as he flopped onto his back, a wide smile spread across his face at the thought of having matching rings with his best friend. He giggled to himself as he tried to imagine Hongjoong’s reaction to the rings, he was never one to show his emotions very well but Seonghwa felt like he could read him well, even though they’ve only been friends for a couple years.
